*1-1 Mentorship Information: Price & Structure (Maximum Capacity = 20 Clients Per Year)* It's an absolute pleasure to film these RUclips videos, and I feel fortunate to receive an abundance of meaningful messages every week, but I am unfortunately faced with the disappointing reality of turning away the vast majority of people who want to work together. I have significantly limited availability and can only support twenty people per year because I do not offer one-off calls or drop-in consulting sessions. Twenty individuals might not sound like maximum capacity, but the last few years of teaching have taught me the importance of maintaining tight energetic boundaries if I want to keep uploading these free videos in addition to serving my current clients to the best of my ability in 2024. To minimise confusion and enhance transparency, I've spent several hours writing this ridiculously long comment to help you decide if my Inner Work Mentorship is the right choice for your development & what you could reasonably expect from working closely together. Please take the time to read this service description before contacting me on Instagram… or feel free to stop reading right now if you’re not interested in my fees, session structure, client expectations, etc. ... *READ BEFORE SCROLLING FURTHER:* I'm interested in long-term change and structural transformation, which is why I've never offered one-off sessions. Complex issues cannot be resolved in a few hours, but we likewise need to define an upper limit for containment and collaboration. I've learned that deep and enduring self-integration requires at least four months of immersive effort. Why four months? It's enough weekly contact for us to work through multiple complex issues and developmental possibilities, but short enough to mitigate against unconscious co-dependency and motivational stagnation. I'm currently accepting a maximum of two new clients per month - message me after reading the following section to check my availability. ... *HOW I WORK & WHO I WORK WITH* Unlike other coaches and teachers who take an understandably more relaxed approach to healing and integration, my mentorships are characteristically intense. This is a highly-demanding, high-investment process which requires our consistent combined effort over a period of four months. If we were to start working together, I would reasonably expect you to be excited to show up for a minimum of 10+ hours of self-motivated transformative practice per week (daily reading, fitness routine, creative exercises, spiritual reflection, etc.) while also maintaining full-sobriety (no drink, no drugs, no cigarettes, no vapes). These strict standards of discipline and sobriety are plainly unsuitable for most people in most situations - even genuinely motivated individuals who resonate with my RUclips videos may not be the right match for four months of structured mentorship. If you want to get deeper, I've noticed that there's a certain type of ‘temperament' & 'timing’ to get the most out of me. I'm interested in alert, creative and purpose-driven individuals who aspire to exceptional standards of self-maturation and would enjoy the feeling of going through week-on-week of progressively stacked transformative experiences for a third of a year: my ideal client is somebody who is willing to bring forward their internal complexity with a sense of courage and transparency with the intention of nothing less than full-spectrum transformation & rapid acceleration on their personal path. I am yet to discover another supportive figure who offers something comparable to this mentorship: a four-month, structured yet flexible 1-1 container which is simultaneously therapeutic, academic and action-oriented; with primary focus placed on tangible improvements in your felt sense of self-knowledge and self-integration; in addition to making consistent and meaningful progress towards your unique goals and mentorship aspirations. I prioritise contact, compassion and accountability, which means that your work never really 'ends' at the end of your session. You can reasonably expect to be fed dozens of customised reading suggestions and follow-on perspectives outside of the formal sessions via friendly and informal messenger contact, where I am active and available four days per week to cultivate an intimate personal connection while likewise enhancing your positive momentum via accountability check-ins and additional support as required. By way of conclusion for what feels like an extraordinarily long comment and service description, I feel compelled to once more emphasise that working directly with me is unrealistic for most people in most situations. I often support people who are accustomed to wrestling with the emotional challenges associated with working through complex wounds in previous therapeutic relationships before we begin our coaching work together. Even individuals without 'hard trauma' can expect moments of pressurised darkness and heaviness during periods of shadow contact as you begin to restructure your personal unconscious. We will be exploring your psyche and soma at scale and depth, and it will be your responsibility to keep me informed about the emotional texture of your internal reality, especially if you encounter negatively charged experiences, and I will of course do everything in my power to support you through the hard times as we integrate the darkness and move forwards together. RUclips is a wonderful place for me to share free research resources and offer accessible inner work invitations; my private mentorships, however, are the place for collaborative partnership and emotional security as we identify, navigate and restructure oftentimes confronting and challenging conscious and unconscious physical, emotional and mental material. Ultimately, this is a highly-demanding but highly-rewarding process which requires the best of our shared intentions. ... *SESSION STRUCTURE & FEES:* The total fee for an Inner Work Mentorship (including 12 x 2 hr sessions) is £7,400 GBP or approximately $9,400 USD. This is my only coaching programme, and my mentorship pricing is liable to adjustment over time.
Each private session lasts two hours, and is facilitated via Telegram video call at an ideal time for both of us. Your mentorship extends over a linear four-month period, with a total of twenty-four hours of structured session time, in addition to four days per week of unlimited messenger availability for accountability updates, voice note exchanges and informal calls upon occasion. I do not work on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays, but I am fully-available across all timezones for regular calls and messenger contact on Thursday - Sunday. If you’ve scrolled this far, and resonate with what I’m offering, I invite you to message me on Instagram. It would be my pleasure to start exploring your goals and intentions in real-time. IMPORTANT: I am an intentionally independent coach, and not a licensed therapist or associated with any professional bodies or coaching institutions, and therefore enjoy the freedom to collaborate with my clients across all areas of life in an intimate, direct and highly involved coaching style. I work with no more than twenty people per year, and am currently accepting a maximum of two new clients per month. I also manage my own inbox and do not use automated systems or employ people to pretend to be me on Instagram, which means that it usually takes four to six weeks for me to respond to new messages and begin the interview process. Although my approach takes time, I hope you ultimately appreciate my personal emphasis on authentic and confidential communication from the very beginning of our relationship. I once again encourage you to message me immediately if you want to start working together within the next two months - bump yourself to the top of my inbox, and I’ll send you some voice notes to get our conversation started.
I read somewhere recently that the average person can read approximately 680-730 books in their entire lifetime (of those who regularly read at all and including children's books). That number gave me a bit of an existential crisis when I considered the millions of books in the world. We all have a ticking clock and a finite time to read. In my own Goodreads app, I have 420 total books read, 108 from my Psychology era, and 36 handpicked Thornton selections. It's so valuable to have bibliophiles like you in the present age. Someone who can find the most potent, soulful selections in a world that often lacks substance. Thank you for your work and for these lifechanging books 🙏
@AlexandarShmex yes haha probably the average is 0 to 1 per year, 2 to 5 per year for many, a book per month for "readers" The article was from the Economist, I believe. They said about 10 to 15 books per year for people who read regularly.
I came across this video last night because I’m in a mentally dark place. I picked up the king, warrior, magician, lover book that was recommended. I’m nearly half way through and I feel a profound change emerging within myself. Thank you for all the hard work you’ve put into cultivating your mind. I am confident that what you are working towards, is saving lives. I will probably read all the books on your list!
My friend, thank you for being here. I know those dark places, and I likewise suggest my recent 'dark night of the soul' video to help out - the shadow work playlist too, it's deep and practical. There is light ahead, stay steady.
Trauma may never fully "go away" in the sense that it stops affecting you, but with time, effort, and the right tools, you can manage it and reduce its impact on your life
My initial book that helped me significantly was Healing the Shame that Binds by John Bradshaw. It explains how we are all stifled in our upbringings at various levels. However our true unique self is unharmed and waiting to be reclaimed.
I'm so grateful for your videos. After years in finance, I realized that pursuing a career disconnected from my passion for mental health and psychology wasn't fulfilling. At this stage in my life, I'm finally taking the leap to return to school and become a psychotherapist. Your recommendations have been invaluable. For 2025, I'm excited to dive into 12 books you've suggested (between this video and Transpersonal Psychology video). Thank you for sharing your wisdom and guidance.
Just took some time to check out your IG, and I see your desire for that holistic and well-balanced, intelligent lifestyle. Good luck on your further studies, and likewise remember to apply your financial and entrepreneurial skillset to supplement the psychotherapy training so that you can actively build out your client load and not be left in the 'starving therapist' position after graduation. I have a good video for this too, should help you: "Coaching Business: How I Went From Broke Bookworm To Trustworthy Teacher - Inner Work Library 96/500". Keep me updated with your progress, and likewise feel free to connect with me on IG if there is anything I can do with either the Shadow Work Library structure curriculum or anything more personally involved - 2025 is looking good for you, Kathryn.
5 books that describe my path: 1. Letting Go, by David Hawkins 2. How to stubbornly refuse to make your self miserable about anything, yes anything, by Albert Ellis 3. 7 habits of highly effective people Stephen covey 4. At last a life by Paul David 5. Outwitting the devil by napoleon hill
I’ve found this video a week after a deeply traumatic experience. My experience over the past week has made me reflect on so much of my life and has made me realize that I have been drawn to unconsciousness as a way to escape pain my whole life. As I have grown up I have been drawn to consciousness and have practiced mindfulness meditation and sought out philosophical ideas from people like Alan Watts, Michael Singer, Eckhart Tolle. A year ago my life was changed when I read Letting Go by David Hawkins. I have read through the book religiously and kept it at my side through dark times. This video gave me chills. This is the kind of deep exploration that my soul yearns for. I’ve never heard of Ken Wilber before but the way you described his work tells me that it’s what I need next in my journey. Thank you so much for sharing this video. You have brought me one step closer to understanding my authentic self.
You’re doing real work here, my friend. I can guarantee that this channel (and the books recommended) are precisely directed towards people like yourself who already have a few years of broad spiritual self development and are looking for the forgotten classics from psychology. You’ll gain a lot from the studies if you find a way to keep up the 2hr per day reading habit - much can heal in a single year 🌲
I can deeply resonate with your feelings. I also had a severe traumatic experience last year (Even as I type this, my stomach pangs), and I’ve had chronic illnesses and severe pain that should have killed me, for 21 years, but I’m still here, pushing 70. I wasn’t like this, so it’s foreign to me. I can hardly drive now, and yet I have high level degrees and taught high school English for 40 years. I was very alive and animated, and it’s disheartening to know that I’m a shell of what I used to be on the outside, but inside, I’ve gained wisdom that I probably couldn’t have gotten any other way. Sorry for my long response to your comment!
I read about a book a week, not all of those are non-fiction but some of my top psychology ones are The Courage to Be Disliked, When the Body Keeps the Score, Daring Greatly, Braiding Sweetgrass, and When the Body Says No.
Did you notice my accidental delayed Douglas processing in the author names between book two and book five? Funny how mistaken memory works sometimes, but the fifth book is by MURRAY STEIN not Douglas Murray 😅
Nowhere, but I’ve shared 200+ books across this channel based on specific themes and questions. Find a video that calls out to you, and you’ll find at least a few books for your next few months… that will be far more useful than a long list without context ✌🏻
Thanks for this, Jordan. Personally Iron John by Robert Bly from 30 years ago was the life-changer. Currently re-reading Original Blessing by Mathew Fox, which I also regard as essential. And for a spiritual sojourn par excellance; Seven Storey mountain by Thomas Merton. Be Well
No. But I did notice that your name is Jordan... And, you appear to have-on your own accord-a focus on Jordan Peterson's original YT content.. Interestingly, I stopped investing in his work once he went Political... And, in many senses, I've since found myself remiss. Thank You for sharing; I'm intent on purchasing all 5 ASAP... In order (I need to limit to 1-2.. or else I'll get "shiny burnout.." & read none of them 😬 Thanks Again 💯🙏🏼
"I'm structuring, I'm mapping, I'm trying to find the system of Truth to make sense of the pain and to find a path to the Future". Man, this resonates 1000% with my mission and purpose. I'm so happy that you are reminding me of my own Path. It's like this "hey, wake up" moment as I get dragged by daily chores and chaos of the world. Like Gurdjieff wrote "remember yourself" - you help me with that and I really appreciate it.
I've never heard of you until today. So, thanks to the universal algorithms for putting you in my path. I've already bought two books from this recommended list. Thank you for the information 🙏
@@AmandaHodgson Welcome, and it’s great to be connected in good timing! Get ready to stack your shelves for this second half of 2024 - and feel free to check out my other two latest videos for Jungian and trauma psych recs 📚
A return to love - by Marianne Williamson. IMO sometimes healing can’t be cognitive. It is recognizing a truth at the soul level. This book did that for me. - Last point, in terms of voice. People tell me that my voice is healing. I agree, it comes from healing trauma but also i believe it expresses something eternal about you and the choices we make over time. Thank you! JG
Incredible Jordan. It is amazing how your own healing journey and intrinsic motivation has made you a self-taught therapist, teacher and coach. A beautiful gift for yourself and others. During my undergraduate psychology degree and now my masters in psychotherapy it is interesting that I am not even reading these types of books. They should be recommended. However, during my own healing journey and coming across your channel I have picked up these books which have helped my breath and depth of knowledge when I am participating in discussions with other students and teachers. These are the type of books that students should be reading. I often end up asking the tutor at the end of the trimester what was their most impactful book they have read just to get some ideas. They are usually surprised. It is not a question they often get hahaha... I have also enjoyed reading spiritual leaders such as Eckhart Tolle, Michael Singer and Ram Dass. Somehow after reading some of Jung, I ended up on a spiritual tangent. Then ended up reading the Tao Te Ching and now Stoicism. I find they all connect and interrelate with therapy and have expanded my consciousness. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. I love the book recommendations and your incredible insights.
@@jordanthornton could you make a video where you divide various topics like transpersonal psychology, shadows etc or by author and the best books to start with to have the basics and then which ones to go into more depth later as intermediate and advanced? and could you link the books you mention in the comments?
RUclips recently has been pushing a lot of solid content to my feed, I’m glad I’ve come across your channel brother! Going to go grab these recommendations as they’re most definitely required right about now in my life. Thank you brother! Love, light and prayers my bro! 🩵🙏🏼💫
Thank you for sharing this and the way of doing it, much appreciated. Going to stick with 2 books for now , trauma and the soul and the map of the soul. The titles alone pulled me to it .. then " back to the body " really felt related to it Thanks again , take care
I found your channel fairly recently and have enjoyed your content immensely. I picked up several of these books before the video even ended. Thanks for what you’re doing 🫶
I saw your thumbnail and knew I had to watch and subscribe. I’m deep into trauma and how it was triggered in huge way I went “unconscious” regained then triggered super deeply and everythung just crumbled in epically horrible way.
Love when you speak about „Trauma and the Soul”, it is just remarkable. Best book I’ve read in a decade. One of all time fav. Just reading it was deep theraphy for me. Lifted my soul, felt it deeply in my body, like something in me started smiling. Best chapter for me was about Little Prince and losing and gaining our innocence. This book started my brother’s therapy. After reading Kalshed stories he wanted to explore his devils/angers (or as author put it, the same forces; archetypal defences of the Self).
I love this, and you’re right that so many people can relate to the profound effects of this book. Thank you for sharing some of your story here… I’m sure it’s tipped over a comment-section lurker to make the purchase. I know it’s an expensive book on Amazon.
The Alice Bailey books helped me with existential crisis and deep depression in my early twenties which cover the purpose of incarnation and map the journey of the soul unmatched in many respects by other spiritual books.
@@jordanthornton These things come into our lives when we are ready to receive them. I particularly liked on the other video what you said of most you tube " spirituality" vids being the equivalent of a sugary drink. The energy spikes momentarily but it is not real, lasting nutrition. I have ordered three of the books you suggested. Thanks and appreciation.
It's not often I subscribe after watching only a single video. You sir, are stellar! Love and admire the mountain of work you've put into the channel. THANK YOU! 🙏
Bro, I have no idea why I am giving this video my attention today. Never heard about you before. I have been suffering DP/DR from more than 10 years now. The more I got to accomplish is to being able to live with it, with its not fully living. After listen to you Im gonna give a chance to this book. Thank you for your honest sharing.
Trauma and the soul changes the game for me with dissociation. You’ll find it a worthwhile and soulful investment - glad to have connected, and I wish you well.
This is so exciting yet sucks. I have just started reading books regularly. Just getting this video recommended has showed me an entire Library that I want to consume and I want to read them all right now haha. Going to start with these 5, Trauma and the soul coming Thursday. But the Jungian Psychology is really something that's drawing me. Thankful brother.
I was searching for something since I became a teenager. I knew something was very wrong but I didn't have the capacity yet to understand what it was. So many times religion came back but it didn't feel right. So a couple of decades later I went in a identity crisis. If I look back now I would call it the dark night of the soul. Little me didn't understand any of that but it wasn't something Little me could do. I resisted some of it and thought I went insane sometimes 😅 But finaly, and I don't really know why but I surrendered to my soul. I sure as hell didn't know how to get me out of there so I did what felt most authentic and that was to surrender. Thats where my soul stepped in and started guiding me through this compression and it made so many parts of my shadow known and it guided me to embrace these parts of me and love it instead of judging it and reject it. So for me it was a proces from within me. Essentialy what it did was teaching me to live from within myself instead of the outside world.
So happy to happen upon this video. Brilliant, Bold and Beautiful !! The 2 books that stood out for me are: A brief history of tomorrow The voice of the body Your works and words are and will be a wonderful welcome in my life adventure. Miigwech
Thank you for the recommendations. This fall will mark a year since I've started an autotherapeutic reading practice based on your book lists and videos. Charles Whitfield, John Rowan, Alexander Lowen, and James Hollis have been revelatory.
Congratulations on your consistency, these are the comments which fire me up. Cheers to your next year ahead… I’m sure your bookshelves are going to be getting stacked ✌🏻
@@rachelsavard851 it's very good at explaining why we feel the need of negative feelings like anger, fear, sadness and at convincing you to let them go because it's always beneficial and it's possible.
We all have both masculine and feminine qualities regardless of gender. I feel getting healthy is about knowing ourselves better as human beings and each of us finding balance between ego and the heart
The book that affected me the most over many years was “reflections on the art of living, a Joseph, Campbell companion”, by Diane K. Obson. It’s not mentioned very often in Joseph Campbell’s collected works, because a different author is compiling his teachings, but in a very profound and accessible way. The main perspective, I approached life from after reading this was, that life is an adventure, but that was only one among many more rare gems found in this book.
The section at the end was very wholesome brother. It’s a pleasure to watch and learn from your healing arch. I am so intrigued to see what your first book will be about. Wishing you and everyone well this Sunday and looking into the next week. Start it strong friends ✌️
Glad I decided to add those final few minutes - generally try to ‘keep myself out of these videos’ so people get more space for personal reflection, but the book title mapping is interesting. Wishing you well my man, sure you’ll enjoy that game too.
Joe Dispenza has been proven to be a pseudoscience quack. He has absolutely no experience to back him up. He failed out of a biochemistry degree in his freshman year and the only degree he does actually have is a Chiropractor degree from Life University. The guys a fraud who says a bunch of bs with science words and phrases intertwined.
Body keeps the score/public law and Human rights/We who wrestle with God - Jordan peterson/The Fourth Turning/The boy who was raised as a dog/the holographic are all books that shifted my perceptions. Nice to meet you.
You are the personification of the opposite of what's known as "dumbing down" (which unfortunately is becoming increasingly ubiquitous today). Keep reaching up jordan! We're all journeying along behind you. 🎁✨🏆🏅🎇♥♦
Inner peace to me! Inner peace is your birth right! Inner peace is finding the stillness in you. Peace be still, they say! How you keep your inner place in a chaotic world. Inner peace is something you unlock within you. Inner peace is a nirvana state of being. Inner peace is an unconditional love you find within yourself. Inner peace is something you can not teach. It's something you can not reach. It's an internal process. You have to go through different aspects of levels of life. Learning the value of living in awareness of being. Our actions and thoughts determine the outcome of our reality. Inner peace is hard to obtain in a negative world. You can not be negative and think your reality will be positive. Inner peace is a step in positivity 😇 for you can sustain the mindset of the reality that you choose to have. Inner peace is about feelings and emotions. Inner peace is a love for nature ❤️ Inner peace is silence in the mind. Inner peace is still, internally and externally. Inner peace brings peace of mind. Inner peace starts making you look at your health. You know your health is your wealth. It's your energy all of your currencies. The healthier you are, the wealthier you become. Inner peace is easy to get and hard to keep if you let it. It's hard to keep if you are not willing to let go of people, places, or things that are not severing you in a positive way. Inner peace is better than the lottery 😌 cause not many can achieve it! Inner peace is the best thing that ever happened to me. Inner peace is about love, light, peace, and happiness, nothing that the world taught to me. I have inner peace, and yes, life is great! You can have it, too! It's not outside of you. That's the world that tells you to chase. Why? When it's in you! Inner peace.. it's better the sex, drama, lack, limited, aggravation, ignorance, and much more. All the low vibration of the world shit that you will let go. Inner peace to me is great cause I am free. I am grateful 🙏🏾 to unlock 🔑 Inner peace in me.
Your coaching idea is very interesting and if you work with only 20 people, at the end of the year you make an ok income, nothing over the top. Your price is reasonable in rapport with how much you work and what you are offering. I’m a therapist and I love your ideas. Good luck!
I’ve been finding it hard to talk about sexual abuse with my family and friends as guy, just wanted to say I really respect the work you’ve done, even though the trauma is difficult there is a way to heal, that’s a powerful message for people in pain
I'm sorry to hear this, and likewise mirror what's been said here about working with a professional. 95/100 family members will not be equipped to deal with heavy trauma, and can often make things worse. It's a sensitive topic which requires a professional approach - be well.
Alice Bailey… Thank you for sharing her. I have read most of her work and they inform my soul astrology service. I am currently revisiting Esoteric Healing. Will return to a Treatise after hearing your warm voice. Thank you for this.
I’m a therapist in rehab, devout Catholic. I love integral types such as power vs. force (read like 5 Hawkins books), little Ken Wilbur, spiral dynamics. Excited to try that last book. I would recommend checking out the book “Reality Transurfing” it’s hefty, I think like 700-1100 pages. But it is a strong conscious level.
@@jordanthornton indeed; yes I'm enjoying your content about $. I've been seeking philosophy and psychology to help give insight in healing money issues.
I read your previous recommandations: Archetype revisited, meeting the shadow and healing the inner child; I've read almost 100 books on the last year covering a wide range of interesting topics, yet these three are by far some of the best I've read, towards the goal of trauma healing and individuation. Thankyou.
Thank you for your recommendations. I studied psychology for my undergraduate and that was extremely scientifically grounded and then not long after I started becoming very interested in spirituality and I’ve more or less forgotten about the former because the concepts are just so opposing. I’m glad to learn there’s bodies of work that have the two more aligned and I’ve ordered some of these because you’ve made them sound really interesting.
Delighted to find this channel. I will definitely get my hands on most of the books you recommend, but not Ken Wilber. I have heard so many interviews with him and his words are just too many. I feel absolutely no thing when he speaks. It's just words, to me at least. He makes me feel as if I have eaten much too much too much too much. But the other books sounds really interesting. I think I will start with Lowen's Language of the body and then Trauma and the Soul. Thank you very much Jordan.
Thank you so much for this! I've been desperately trying to find books like these to help my studies. But as you said, I could not find things like this because of the internet. I greatly appreciate the recommendations!
Watching ur video .. esp the last thing u did .. connecting key words . It gave me goosebumps . I was awestruck. Im in a healing phase. I have felt like my purpose is to HEAL my family wounds and also become an author. I was not able to find the link in between these. And you gave me that.❤ Also , I am finding , I am loosing interest in superficial knowledge. I have a craving to go deep and all the books you recommended have exactly the topics , I wanted to explore. ❤ This is amazing thankyou ❤
Hi Jordan, finding your channel at this moment is a beautiful correspondence. This year I have been grappling with so many of the issues you have articulated in this video. After a surge of inner work, it has really slowed down in the past couple of months and I have found myself grappling with old habits. I really appreciate finding the clarity of your channel at this moment. After a quick browse, the 5 books I can see that blew my lid wide open (and would happily have them do so again) are: Paul Reps - Zen Flesh Zen Bones The Portable Jung Michael Singer - The Untethered Soul J.A Baker - The Peregrine Elizabeth Haich - Initiation Keep doing what you're doing.
Some golden books right here, and I’m glad to be connecting at this moment in your life. It seems you’ve already got great tastes and I think you’ll enjoy stacking your shelves with some of these channel recommendations for the next stage in your journey 🌲
Dude. I just found your channel a little bit ago and it’s amazing. I’m almost done with inner work by Robert Johnson as per your recommend, it’s been amazing. Looking forward to reading these too.
Wow synchronicity my dear friend. I was processing religious and physical trauma etc and the thought came into my mind look on youtube on letting go. I have read extensively on letting etc and come across your video this morning was a breathe of fresh air. Im excited to meet a similar mind who's intellect needs stimulation beyond surface level psychology and philosophy and spirituality . Thank you for the book recommendations and I will endeavour to connect soon. My mission is to integrate intellect heart and soul to inspire myself and others based on love of the all. I was looking in the show notes for the list of the five books to order. That would be so helpful to have the titles or links to them… Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and experience. Very helpful! And so needed in our culture!
@ my specific question was, I couldn’t find the names of the books in the show notes so I had to take a screenshot every time you pulled up a new book in the video which was tricky! Did I miss where you have the titles of the books listed in the show notes?
Need more people like this human in my life - I just feel like a little girl wanting to make friends with this intellect cause its so "matching matching"!! loveeee that i found your video, bless you - may you spread the word to all those who intend on seeking .. lets say existential intel
Alice Baily 😍 "What the new age movement could have been if had it been smart!" Accurate! She is a deep read due to the time needed to ruminate & integrate!
@@Vgallo I think you’ll enjoy my perspectives, I know what you mean - always aiming for the channel to have a more rigorous and academic approach to the mysteries of life ✌🏻
@@jordanthornton yeah I think so too, when I heard your 30 second disclaimer and you mentioned this isn’t some cringey self help and these aren’t books you’d find in an airport, I knew there was something like minded and substantial here, none of these easy jejune answers that are so popular today. The only thing is, I can’t read atm, I live a house that has toxic mold and the new house we bought and inspected today, revealed mold in at least one wall 😭😭😭, that’s been the hardest part about being sick, I can’t do what I love, which is too read, the brain fog is just all consuming. So I’ll just have to sustain myself by watching your content, cuz I’m guessing these books aren’t available on audible? Oh dude I just got to the Ken Wilbur recommendation, I’ve been listening to his theory of everything.
I would love to do the coaching as I ended an abusive 22 year relationship and fell in w/ another narcissist (possibly psychopath). I want to feel genuinely happy again and make my kids proud. I am working SO hard- reading, listening, exercising, meditation, music etc. i cannot afford the coaching, so, will listen to your videos and read your recommendations. ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ Love that you incorporate a holistic approach which is essential.
Such a great video! 📚 I absolutely adore King, Warrior, Magician, Lover and recommend it to the male figures in my life often. I love Map of the Soul as well. If I had to narrow down the books that have personally had the most significant impact on me, I'd say the first that come to mind would probably be Aspects of the Feminine by Carl Jung, Sexual Personae by Camille Paglia, Fear and Loathing by Søren Kierkegaard, Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, & Demian by Herman Hesse. Really happy that I've finally come across your channel. You're lovely ❤
Tastes of a real literary appreciator, I see. Thanks for dropping in here, and welcome to the channel too if we're connecting for the first time. You're going to need some new shelves soon.
693 Books , saw what you did there Jordan 👀😌 Anyway , good content , will definitively read the book. Trauma and shadow work are necessary in today’s age with so much suffering and pain.!
Thank you 🙏🏼 My top books are How To Be An Adult by David Richo, NonViolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg, Conscious Parenting by Dr Shefali Tsbary, Peaceful Parent Happy Kids By Dr Laura Markham, and How to Be An Adult In Relationship by David Richo… maybe missing “The Body Keeps the Score” .. oh gosh there’s so many
I have a pretty big library of books on self exploration, psychology, etc. and I only have 1 of these suggested books. I can’t wait to dive into these titles! Thank you for your suggestions!
Welcome, and I’m glad to get connected in good timing. I don’t know the exact nature of your personal library, but I hope you continue to find depth and truth in some of the new books shared on this channel - stay steady with your studies 🌲✌🏻
Hi, German native speaker here. I adore what you do and am definitely going to subscribe! I do hope though that you don't mind me correcting your pronunciation of the name Jung, it is a short "U" as in "pull", rather than an "ou" as in "young". Hope this helps and wasn't rude. Much love to you, I can't wait to explore your channel further! 💖
Thank you. Just came across your channel, very pleased I did. Wonderful selection, some were new to me, others brilliant choices. Noted all. Thank you again.
Welcome, and thank you for introducing yourself. I hope that you keep finding more hidden gold here - I’m all about the intermediate & advanced reads which have been overlooked. Wishing you well ✌🏻
Trauma and the Soul: I have lived in pieces of my self, sharing the same body and lifetime... At last I have begun to understand who all I am and what had happened to me, though yet to learn how to find peace
@jordanthornton Thanks 🤗 and yes! I just bought, Trauma and the Soul, A Treatise on White Magic, Jung's Map of the Soul, Sage Huntress Lover Queen... and King Warrior Magician Lover. Just what I needed 🙏🏼
This is very inspiring. Thank you. I’m just starting out my healer/teacher/coach career and I really like the idea of utilizing literature to incorporate in a course. I will check out these books.
I wish more people were like you… it’s a shame how coaches and healers are overlooking the importance of the literary tradition. Students benefit from having primary sources to explore between classes or sessions.
glad i found your channel ! i had really bad dissociation but psychedelic spirits staged a long and incredible intervention. i have gone from fragmented / parts taking over and black outs to integrated ! but very fatigued by the whole process, now the fatigue and unpracticed focus is what is hindering me.
Welcome - you'll go far with some of these recommendations here, stay steady. I'm glad to know you've been making progress, and good luck with the fatigue and focus. It gets better.
I love your book recommendations. My to read list is increasing quickly 😅 but big thanks to you. Your channel has great value because of these recommendations
Will check out the Sage Huntress, lover, queen book. I REALLY enjoyed Carole S Pearsons book about the archetypes, I could see a lot of myself in there, trying to move out of orphan.
*1-1 Mentorship Information: Price & Structure (Maximum Capacity = 20 Clients Per Year)*
It's an absolute pleasure to film these RUclips videos, and I feel fortunate to receive an abundance of meaningful messages every week, but I am unfortunately faced with the disappointing reality of turning away the vast majority of people who want to work together.
Please take the time to read this service description before contacting me on Instagram… or feel free to stop reading right now if you’re not interested in my fees, session structure, client expectations, etc.
...
*READ BEFORE SCROLLING FURTHER:*
I'm interested in long-term change and structural transformation, which is why I've never offered one-off sessions.
I'm currently accepting a maximum of two new clients per month - message me after reading the following section to check my availability.
...
*HOW I WORK & WHO I WORK WITH*
Unlike other coaches and teachers who take an understandably more relaxed approach to healing and integration, my mentorships are characteristically intense.
Ultimately, this is a highly-demanding but highly-rewarding process which requires the best of our shared intentions.
...
*SESSION STRUCTURE & FEES:*
The total fee for an Inner Work Mentorship (including 12 x 2 hr sessions) is £7,400 GBP or approximately $9,400 USD.
I met Ken Wilber like 20 years ago when he was building his Integral NGO. Got a picture of him wearing a "Imma Si Ner U" tshirt.
Hey Jordan, which book do you recommend for me to start first if I am to work on my childhood trauma?
Just read Power Of Now by Eckhart Tolle! Intense destruction and dissolvement of ego! You don't really need any other books!

So, not the average person, but an avid reader.
@AlexandarShmex yes haha probably the average is 0 to 1 per year, 2 to 5 per year for many, a book per month for "readers"
The article was from the Economist, I believe. They said about 10 to 15 books per year for people who read regularly.
I just started reading my 11th book and am excited to read the titles in this video afterwards
@@amy-lyne That's close to what I think. I'm not an avid reader, but I read from 10-30 books per year + 10-20 times as much articles and texts.

I came across this video last night because I’m in a mentally dark place. I picked up the king, warrior, magician, lover book that was recommended. I’m nearly half way through and I feel a profound change emerging within myself. Thank you for all the hard work you’ve put into cultivating your mind.

5 books that describe my path:
1. Letting Go, by David Hawkins
2. How to stubbornly refuse to make your self miserable about anything, yes anything, by Albert Ellis
3. 7 habits of highly effective people Stephen covey
4. At last a life by Paul David
5. Outwitting the devil by napoleon hill

Outwitting is a marvelous book, everyone should read that book if they want to be free human beings.
Gosh i love the tone of your voice. So soothing
Where Can i find a whole list od your 600 books , i will be grateful for helping

But the Jungian Psychology is really something that's drawing me. Thankful brother.
You’re in for a wild, bibliographic ride - you got this, stay steady in your studies 🌲
I resisted some of it and thought I went insane sometimes 😅
But finaly, and I don't really know why but I surrendered to my soul.
It sounds like you've learned much on your journey so far... and more on the path ahead too. Stay steady in your studies, it all adds up.

I'm sorry to hear this, and likewise mirror what's been said here about working with a professional. 95/100 family members will not be equipped to deal with heavy trauma, and can often make things worse. It's a sensitive topic which requires a professional approach - be well.
@@Minimalistic-mima all the best to you on your healing journey 💗
So what book would help the most when it comes to 'sexual abuse'?
Alice Bailey…
Thank you for sharing her. I have read most of her work and they inform my soul astrology service. I am currently revisiting Esoteric Healing. Will return to a Treatise after hearing your warm voice. Thank you for this.
Fellow Bailey appreciator, great to be connected. Welcome to the channel too.
You’ll love Ken Wilber at more depth, and the last book too. Go for it, and stay steady in your path brother. God bless.
First view, subscribed by 0:40, cried by 2:14, and empathetically prayed for a reason for living by 2:24. Thanks for the efficiency.🙏🏻
What a journey! I hope you’ve been enjoying the other channel videos over the last few days - stack those shelves!
@@jordanthornton indeed; yes I'm enjoying your content about $. I've been seeking philosophy and psychology to help give insight in healing money issues.
@@mountainwoodcamp1638 Happy to know the money trauma videos are here for you in good timing 🌲
I read your previous recommandations: Archetype revisited, meeting the shadow and healing the inner child; I've read almost 100 books on the last year covering a wide range of interesting topics, yet these three are by far some of the best I've read, towards the goal of trauma healing and individuation. Thankyou.
Excellent effort, bravo! Thanks for being here with the deeper journey - keep at it.
I went the other way around. I can't wait to be finished. So much shortsighted BS. (Not all but way too much of it).
Thank you very much Jordan.
personally I'd go with just two books: Power of Now (Eckhart Tolle), and Ask and It is Given (Abraham Hicks)
Abraham Hicks is New Age garbage she channels the evil spirit.. stay away from that book and her teachings..
Oh my.... a couple classics there.
When you do these lists Jordan, it's bad for my bank account but really fxcking great for my healing and development journey.
Thank God that books are cheaper than therapy and coaching! I remember spending perhaps 50% of my income on books in 2020 haha!
@@jordanthornton You are correct! I’m not complaining really Jordan, just joking around. I love it.
PDFDrive or Internet Archives
Thank you so much for this! I've been desperately trying to find books like these to help my studies. But as you said, I could not find things like this because of the internet. I greatly appreciate the recommendations!
You’re going to love this channel, prepare your bookshelves for dozens of excellent stepping stones - travel well on your inwards path ✌🏻
Beautiful to know you’ve made the same connections all of a sudden here - stay steady in your next steps, and good luck.
Hello Jordan, I have just come across your channel.
This is a great video! I will try consume as much as I can to gain valuable knowledge.
Thank you.
Welcome, Mari. Great to get connected for the journey ahead. Picked up any new books this week?
@@jordanthornton Hi Jordan, yes I have ☺️. I am currently reading ‘ Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway’ by Susan. Thanks for your response back.
After a quick browse, the 5 books I can see that blew my lid wide open (and would happily have them do so again) are:
Paul Reps - Zen Flesh Zen Bones
The Portable Jung
Michael Singer - The Untethered Soul
J.A Baker - The Peregrine
Elizabeth Haich - Initiation
Keep doing what you're doing.
Some golden books right here, and I’m glad to be connecting at this moment in your life. It seems you’ve already got great tastes and I think you’ll enjoy stacking your shelves with some of these channel recommendations for the next stage in your journey 🌲
I actually bought King Warrior Magician Lover for my ex last month. Watching this I realise it was an inspired purchase. Great video thank you.
Fantastic gift, did you read it too?
@@jordanthornton it's in my reading pile along with the similar Feminine one. Great talk thanks.
This video made me want to spend my evening reading! Thank you for sharing your strong interests in psychology.
How did your evening reading marathon go? It's the best way to end a day.
“The only Zen you find on tops of mountains is the Zen you bring there.”
Dude. I just found your channel a little bit ago and it’s amazing. I’m almost done with inner work by Robert Johnson as per your recommend, it’s been amazing. Looking forward to reading these too.
Welcome, and thanks for being here with this library. Prepare to stack up your shelves hahaha
Thanks for sharing , Diamante Angelini Jackman
You’re in good company here, my friend - welcome and enjoy the golden books ✌🏻
I was looking in the show notes for the list of the five books to order. That would be so helpful to have the titles or links to them… Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and experience. Very helpful! And so needed in our culture!
All the books are right there in the video, and I hope you find them well in addition to the hundreds of books I share here! Go well ✌🏻
@ my specific question was, I couldn’t find the names of the books in the show notes so I had to take a screenshot every time you pulled up a new book in the video which was tricky!
Agreed! It’s a shame that we watered things down… but such is the way.
oh I just found a new channel, the new age movement is so goddamn cringe and overly simplistic
Very soothing voice too. I calmed down watching this video. Thanks for the recommendations
Welcome to the channel, and I'm glad to have you here - enjoy the books.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Love that you incorporate a holistic approach which is essential.
I clicked subscribe when you said “i’m not here to entrain you” cuz this is exactly whet we need as a online society really
It’s my aim of the entire channel, since day one - I hope you’ve been enjoying the new books ✌🏻
Your voice is beautiful ❤️
IFS saved my life! Definitely would want IFS books in my library. Meanwhile I will explore your other recommendations. Thank you
You’re gonna love these compliments - go deep into archetypal psychology if you enjoyed IFS.
You have great voice, pleasure to listen
Cheers, I'm glad to be able to speak on these topics - rewarding work, and meaningful days.
Thanks for your generosity in sharing your experience with these books!
Truly my pleasure, thanks for being here.
This is extremely impressive ! Thankyou for making this video
What an intro, you have my subscription.
Welcome, great to be connected 🌲
I love this!, I appreciate your honesty about your experiences and amazing book recommendations
Which ones have you been picking up?
Mr. Thornton. I'd be interested in your take on these 2 short & powerful classics. 1) Avadhuta Gita & 2) Ashtavakra Gita.
693 Books , saw what you did there Jordan 👀😌
Anyway , good content , will definitively read the book. Trauma and shadow work are necessary in today’s age with so much suffering and pain.!
700 sounds boring as fuck, we’ll go with something more symbolically significant 😉
@@jordanthorntonastonishing progress in one year.. ~550 books 😁

@@jordanthornton You're the best, Jordan! ❤️❤️❤️
Great recommendations. Also I loved you in the show Trying.

Love Donald Kalsched's work. Thank you
King of dissociation healing, agreed.
God help me avoid the trap myself, when the time comes.
Excellent news, welcome and enjoy going deeper with the golden books we talk about here 🌲
Thank you for putting all this together and sharing it!! 💜 😊
Welcome, and it’s a pleasure to get connected. Hope you’re already stacking your shelves with some golden books - you picked up any new reads yet? 🌲
@jordanthornton Thanks 🤗 and yes! I just bought, Trauma and the Soul, A Treatise on White Magic, Jung's Map of the Soul, Sage Huntress Lover Queen... and King Warrior Magician Lover. Just what I needed 🙏🏼
so glad i just found your channel and all these books
Welcome, and start stacking those shelves!
P.S. make sure to get a copy of ‘The Living Classroom’ - it’s worldclass for the work you’re doing ✌🏻
glad i found your channel ! i had really bad dissociation but psychedelic spirits staged a long and incredible intervention. i have gone from fragmented / parts taking over and black outs to integrated ! but very fatigued by the whole process, now the fatigue and unpracticed focus is what is hindering me.
Was reading Pearson only last week, funnily enough. Nice synch.
Nice to sort of meet you, Jordan. Always interesting to me how content creators appear on my feed.
