I purchased a Bolt EUV Premier this Fall and it fit's my driving needs perfectly. Chevy will also pays up to , $1,000.00 to install a 240V second stage outlet that you can plug in your charger that comes with the car. I took advantage of that deal and it was at no cost to me. With the Federal Tax credit ($7500.00) and in my case the Colorado State Tax credit ($5000.00), it drops the price of my Bolt EUV down to around, $21,000.00. That makes the Bolt a terrific value. The Bolt also comes with an 8yr/100K on the Battery. Last, the Bolt will also exceed it's EPA rating. Routinely I hear people are getting 270, 280 on a charge. What is not to like. Cheers!!!
This is a segment in the market that GM could have set itself up to dominate, but thier poor leadership and lack of forward-thinking has cost them billions. Think about it everyone's praising the new Toyota Prius but Gm made the Chevrolet volt over 10 years ago with just as much all battery range. And honestly all the Bolt needs is a 100 to 125 KW charging ability not the failing ultium platform.
Mary is well aware that the Bolt was facing a public spanking from the upcoming high volume compact from Tesla. Better to bow out quietly and do a deal for a rebadged compact for the next gen Bolt.
@@libertykrueger1433 Yes, now that the Chevy Bolt non-Ultimium is no more; that will only give Tesla the nod of approval to buy Tesla Model 3 instead of waiting till 2025 summer for the new Chevy Bolt Ultimium EV car and even worse still it will take two years to get a true production new EV ramped up; so one can fully expect to wait until 2027 summer for the Chevy Bolt Ultimium EV vehicle at one's Chevy dealer; thanks but no thanks Mary Barra as by then the tesla $25k EV vehicle will be out by that time fully available to purchase; Mary Barra you will be late to the party by middle 2027 summer; so I am not waiting or hoping to get a Chevy Bolt Ultimium EV vehicle; who knows the Ultimium EV batteries might even also catch fire if charged on the higher speed charge rates; thanks but no thanks Mary Barra; that is a hard non-starter pass for me plus I will be able to get the Tesla EV battery pronto quick like no one's business; who knows what other problems the Chevy Bolt Ultimium EV vehicle will have down the line with its EV batteries or high speed EV battery recharge rates with potential high speed battery EV recharge overheating problems.
That’s why I bought my son a Bolt EUV this year… he’s going to UCONN using our home charger and the chargers on campus. Perfect for him! As a MY owner, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, drive experience, and the sneaky spacious room of the interior.
GM, makes one mistake after another. The Bolt is an essential affordable EV which is going away for who knows how long. GM can't build enough of these cars and now the Blazer launch is having problems. GM, promised a lot, but didn't deliver on its promises. Where is the Equinox EV promised last spring.
If Mary was smart, she would work a deal with Tesla to do a new Bolt based on the upcoming compact architecture. That would be the perfect small EV offering. All the technology of a Tesla drivetrain with a more conventional interior with proper buttons, instrument cluster, CarPlay and android auto, etc.
Its going away _forever_ . If a Bolt "comes back", it will be an Ultium and will cost 35% more and have completely different guts. Kind of like a "new Beetle" vs a real one. Name is the only thing that wont change.
I really don't think it's a CCS problem. I think the problem stems more from an American EV infrastructure problem. There are not enough chargers, and maintenance is lacking.
Just bought a used 23 euv Bolt with 13k on it. So far I'm unimpressed, cheap interior, rather uncomfortable seats, funky brakes. I switched to this from a Buick Lacrosse, the Buick was a real car, hope I get to like this thing.
You don't need to put the Bolt or any recent GM car in park before you turn it off. Just hit the on/off button and it's in park already. We have a 23 Bolt EUV Premier that we love, and a Lyriq on order.
I'm a Chevy guy we've owned a Volt, Bolt EV, and now a Bolt EUV loaded say for Supercruise. I love this car and was considering an Equinox EV... However, the new platform has fallen on its face in regards to the *Stop Sales* on the Blazer and they've priced it, and the Equinox EV nearly out of my price range. So I totally agree with you! Chevy has and is making bonehead decisions concerning their future EVs! So bad...They have me thinking about nice Kona Limited... I bet I'm not the only one!!
I really like my Bolt euv, and how smooth, quiet and comfortable it is. The euv is longer and taller than the Bolt ev, but no wider; I like the size of it, as it's easy to park and get into tight spaces. The slow charging isn't a big deal for me; I hope it makes the battery last longer. I wish a heat pump were an option. I got the 1Lt with comfort and driver packages. I'm looking forward to the 2nd-gen Bolt.
We’re a week shy of one year ownership with a loaded EUV Premier (with super cruise). We have been so happy with the vehicle. We previously had a Model Y LR-AWD but the 2022 car market was so crazy we sold it at a crazy profit in 2022 and picked up a Bolt in 2023 and will get the tax credit soon. Between the two transactions we’re into the Bolt EUV at an incredible price. The EUV fits in our smallish-garage much better than the Y. Still fly, rent ICE or borrow ICE for trips. My mother in law likes the Bolt so we swap out for her CRV typically. L2 charge at home, at work or at mother in laws house, have had 0 issues at just over 8k miles, hasn’t been back to the dealership for anything. May consider a second one, a used 2022 in 2024 when it qualifies for the $4k used credit to replace our degraded 2015 Leaf.
Also… regarding the jokes about Bolts at 350kW chargers, let me share a story. I bought our EUV in Sarasota, FL, flew down there from Memphis purchased the car, stayed the night with friends and drove back. I have been driving electric since April of 2015, I understand different chargers have different charge rates and I have used DCFC’s before, have an EA account, have used EA chargers. At my very first charging stop on the way back to Memphis, the very first stop, EA station. 4-stalls, one 350kW occupied by an ID.4, three open, I pulled into the 150kW to allow others to charge at the remaining 350’s. The app, the station, everything indicated that the 150kW was functional. I could not get the car to charge, while trying various things, the other spots became occupied. I called EA, the lady said the station was broken. So I pulled over into a line that had formed and ended up waiting to charge for a bit of time, even though I was there before several others. So I tried my best to be courteous and it cost me at least an hour. Next stop, two of four stations broken, had to wait again. I get it, the issue overall is broken chargers, so let’s focus on that first before ridiculing Bolt drivers using functional stations to charge just because they got there before you did. Back home after that trip, several eGMP owners start posting in social media Bolt groups “Please don’t charge at 350kW stations Bolt Owners, thank you eGMP owner.” Which makes you just want to give them the middle finger. Focus on the issue at hand, broken chargers, then start working on education.
I've had my Bolt Premier since brand new for over 4 years now (including 4 Canadian winters) and love it. By far THE best car in my life. Also, I test-drove an EUV last year and didn't find much of a difference. They are both great cars.
You need to talk to Kyle about Cannonballing a Bolt cross-country. Yeah it will take longer to charge, but literally any charger will do, from 50kw and above. No 350s? 150s derated? Who cares, does the charger work? That is the only question.
I work at one of Hertz's larger locations, and I expect we'll be selling mamy of these over the next year. I love them, but most of our customers don't want them.
I test drove a 2017 Bolt used. I fell in love with it almost immediately! Sadly when I went to purchase, GM had started the “stop sale” action in order to fix the battery issues. So I was not able to buy it.
I have a 2023 Bolt EUV Premier and I love it. I did not think I would like SuperCruise but it has grown on me. My only real complaint about the Bolt EUV is the slow DCFC and the reat storage isn't great but otherwise I agree that it is great EV for people that mostly drive around town. I have down a few 500+ mile round trip drives and they have not been bad with SuperCruise other than the slow charging speed.
Wait. Who got pink slips and why? They have replacement EVs wouldn’t it make more sense to transfer? Personally I have a love hate relationship. The safety features they pumped like auto emergency braking among others just doesn’t work. Almost 30 years driving and the first accident I’ve had was in the most feature packed car I’ve owned. Rear ended someone. Then had to wait 6 months for parts to get it fixed. Strongly considering trading up for something basic.
I have a 22 Premier in the same color. The one you rented looks like a base LT model. The blanked out climate buttons were for heated seats and steering wheel. I am a middle class guy so my Premier with Super Cruise and Sun and Sound is the nicest car I have ever owned. I also have a 2017 Volt and you can see what GM learned from their experience building the Volt.
I was looking to get a bolt euv last February. I drive 80 miles a day so I don’t need anything fancy. Don’t need fast charging because I can charge at home. It’s a perfect commuter car.
buy one now while they’re still available, Bolt still also gets full $7,500 federal tax credit in 2024 which can be taken off the car price at the dealer
Picking up my Bolt today, and with the $7500 at point of sale, the price is really unbeatable. My state also has no sales tax and my dealer does no MSRP markups. Combine all of this with my downpayment and car exchange, I’m going to be making monthly finance payments that are equal to or less than what I pay for gas each month on my 2007 Malibu. I really couldn’t afford a brand new car with the type of features I got in this otherwise. Also, heads up that my dealer was speculating yesterday that the new Bolt might not be out to the masses until 2027. Maybe I’ll upgrade then when the Ultium platform has hopefully worked out its kinks.
To me GM makes poor quality vehicles with tons of issues and worse they do not seem to like making affordable cars anymore. I would honestly never and will never buy a GM product for as long as i live.
I currently own a 2023 Bolt EUV redline edition 1 LT with the comfort and safety package, which I bought on 1/1/23. I am an Uber driver, and I got about 3500 dollars off the MSRP due to my Uber and Costco discounts at that time. I have since put 63000 miles on it since 1/1/23 with no problems at all. I have also been averaging 4.6 miles per kw. I have previously owned a 2017 and a 2021 Bolt EV, which GM bought both of them back from me due to battery issues, but I didn't have any problems with them personally. After the tax credit, the 2023 will end up costing me 23500, which is a great deal for this car. If you do any ride sharing, this is the car to get, and I own a 2022 M3LR and a brand new Model S long-range. If you drive this car right in the southern California weather, you can get over 300 miles on a full charge easily. 99.9% of my charging is done at home on my level 2 charger, so the charging speed is not an issue.
@oceanbreeze685 Monday through Thursday, I usually drive about 150 miles, with 45 to 50% remaining on the battery. Friday and Saturday are my 8 to 10 hour days, and 300 miles on a single charge is plenty. On occasions, about 5% of the time, if I am super busy on a Friday or Saturday night, I may charge once again for about 30 minutes for an extra 100 miles
I am also an Uber driver, and I am looking into buying the Bolt EUV. However, I saw that some Uber drivers have said that some passengers (hardly any but some) have complained about the car and their tips are a bit lower. There isn't much headroom in the backseat, and it's pretty narrow too, so when I sit back there, it doesn't feel comfortable to me. And that's coming from someone who is a 5'8" male that weighs 150 lbs so I am far below average when it comes to weight and a bit below average when it comes to height. What are your observations?
I went with the EV, I prefer the hot hatch look over the EUV. I just love it, perfect car for us and great range/efficiency, I haven't needed to use level 3 yet.
2 out of 6 units down, that’s not bad for an Electrify America station. The next obvious question is how many of the remaining 4 units are capped or top out at 50 kw?
Which begs the question why the heck was a Tesla waiting on line for the EA charger? They must not have experience with EA as in 30 minutes they might wait to get on a likely 50 kw charger they could have charged and been gone had they plugged into the 72 kw Tesla destination chargers that were right there.
My 22 EV interior is exactly the same as the EUV except for the back leg room and cargo area Comparing a new Bolt EV or EUV with a pre 22 isnt a fair comparison we rarely dcfc so the charging really isnt an issue for us. Love our Bolt. Msrp is $30,700 for our 2LT. Less the tax credit for those who qualify puts it at about $23,000. By far the least expensive ev out there. The 1LT drops below $20,000. The ultium EUV should keep the Bolt as the best value EV in the country. Btw, if you turn off the Bolt it automatically goes into park
We had a 2019 Bolt before we upgraded to an Ioniq 5. That 50kW charge rate just doesn't work for traveling, but I am still a fan of the Bolt and have to admit that it does a couple things better than my 5. The driver's info screen on the Bolt may look a little like a 1960s SciFi movie idea, but the information is displayed in an excellent manner. Unfortunately, my 5 goes for big, useless graphics. I wish it had the Bolt's functionality. The turning radius and maneuverability of the Bolt is outstanding (my 5 needs the whole parking lot to turn around). While my 5 is a perfect one-car family vehicle, if I wanted a second car or a commuter, I's buy a Bolt or Bolt SUV.
I'm pretty sure Kyle changed Mary's mind! The rest of GMs decisions on EV vehicles have been half baked and they need to get going. The Bolt is a great affordable EV, can't make any sense out of Mary's decisions.
You're right about the Bolt. I purchased Bolt EV a couple of days after you picked up your X and it's been absolutely amazing. The One Pedal Drive is my favorite feature. The regen works like a dream. When I drive my ice car I actually hate using the brake pedal. Not joking. I'm absolutely positive that if I didn't get on the freeway I could get 300 miles out of it on a full 💯 percent charge. I don't use public charging but come sometime in February,at least for GM and Ford owners, that disastrous CCS situation will eventually go the way of the Dodo bird thanks to the Tesla super charger network. Gr8 vid yet again.🦤🚗🇺🇸🔌⚡
On steep hills, one pedal may not hold. Hill start assist will hold the car on a steep incline if you use the brake pedal. Alternatively, you can apply the electronic parking brake in Drive. It will disengage on acceleration. Also, turning off the car will put it in Park automatically.
In electronic world, there should be no more hand break anymore. shifting to park should apply hand break automatically. Agree that park should be equal to turn off except electric components such as radio.
Bolt is great. GM should have just chosen one of the versions and stuck with it. Ton of features and always gets more range than expected. The only upgrade it needs is increased fast charging.
Have a 2020, love it. Bought it used.. it's totally loaded.. has the subwoofer in the trunk. That makes a HUGE difference in the audio quality. Yes DC charging is slow.. But I am not really in a rush when I road trip.. I just plugged in, and took a nap in the back.. You can lay the seats down, and sleep diagonally back there if your under about 5 foot 10 inches. The CCS charging experience kinda sucks, I took a 2500 mile road trip right after I bought it... I would say 50% of the stops had some issue with one or more dispenser... But I was able to charge each time.. But lots of messing around at some stops. But I bought mine to drive in the city.. for Rideshare.. so 99.9% of the time Im charging at home. I will say if you live somewhere cold, the winter range is about 15% less.. so keep that in mind if you need the entire range each day., like me. But overall efficiency in normal weather is actually really good, as Dave mentioned. With no heat or AC needed, I have seen well over 5 miles per kwh... and 4.0-4.5 easy. Winter at 25-35 deg F.. about 3.3 - 3.5 Mpkwh. Great little car... too bad GM is so short sighted.. kill the best and only selling EV they have, before a replacement is ready how dumb are they???? I suspect the Tesla model 2 will come out before the new Bolt .. and absolutely kill it... when GM could be selling an affordable EV NOW and until then. But they will wait and by the time they do bring it out.. Tesla will have something better available in large numbers .
As of December 15, 2023, General Motors (GM) has confirmed that the Bolt EUV will be brought back with the next-gen model in 2025. The new model will be on the Ultium platform and will be a revamped version of the Chevrolet Bolt EV. looks like it is not cancelled , just stoped production for plant upgrade to different evs
2022 the ev non euv bolt got a refresh. Same interior as the euv and exterior styling. Has standard dc fast charging now and the onboard charger went from 7.7kw to 11.5kw. I bought a used 18 bolt with a new battery and love it. Plenty of range for me, fun to drive and lots of usfull options. Only downside is you can buy a used 2022 right now with low miles for what I paid for my 18. That’s what I would recommend unless you’re in a state with large tax incentives that drop the price low
Ive had a 2023 Bolt EUV Premiere since early October. I like it, and it fits my situation nearly perfectly. Its great for a daily commute, and occasional longer trip.
Agreed with your entire assessment. The Bolt EUV is a great car. Hopefully, GM will bring back all the existing engineering features in this vehicle in the 2025 model on the new platform with a higher charging rate. Perfect!
What GM says make sense: to restart Bolt EUV production on Ultium platfotm like all other EVs. What happens in real life makes no sense: the Ultium platfotm is just troubles for now as software kills the Blazer if charged on some DC charging units. There are lots of problems with Blazer EV. That comes in a huge controversy with lots of commercials about future Ultium based EVs which had been running for years so now to fail the launch/production of this platform vehicles. And those very nice cute cars, perfect commuters, Bolt EV and EUV fell victim of continuous GM EV debacle. GM had a very long history of love/hate with EVs and with technology connected to EVs: remember the 2006 documentary - who killed the Electric Car? Then GM creates a nice PHEV platform in a wrong car Chevrolet Volt instead in Equinox. GM improves Volt a lot in its second generation to quickly kill that platform in 2019 in just 4 years. The same happened with Bolt: nice improved second generation gets killed in less then 2 years. Nobody can explain why GM creates beloved cars to get them killed so quickly afterwards. The Bolt main competitors, Hyundai Kona EV, Kia Niro EV and Nissan LEAF are still in production though. So it is no excuse to say that small EVs on the market in North America are non-profitable.
It's like the Spark EV. I know they lost their butts on it, but it is a nice car. If they could put a LFP battery in it, heat pump and maybe increase the range. It would be a kick a$$ car. I have a 2016 Spark EV. I just bought a 2021 Bolt EV. The main reason was the range in the winter, in Wisconsin. 60 miles is a killer. I hate to say it but GM kills vehicles, that it shouldn't. Impala, Volt and I would say the Camaro. Each of those cars, have loyal followers. I can not count the number of Impalas that I owned in my life time on two hands. Great car. Rambling on but at least, I hope that they keep their word and bring back the Bolt. Only had mine, for a little over a week but it is nice. Still have to put on about 6,000 miles to get the software to let me charge to 100 %. How often will I do it? Once in a blue moon.
@@bresina63 We bought a pre-owned Chevrolet Bolt EUV 2022 Premier. It is easy to park in tight spots, has a nice ride, good range, very fast AC charging speed at home. It has features found mostly in luxury cars: heated, ventilated seats in the front, heated seats in the back, heated stearing wheel, adaptive cruise control, windshield wipers rain sensors as in front as in the rear, 360 degrees camera view, front camera, Android auto, Apple Car Play, wireless charging for phones, navigation, sunroof, LED headlights, motorized adjustment of both driver and passenger front seats, very good soft-firm suspension balance. But most importantly has very large leg room space in front of rear seats. It has USB charging ports in the front and rear as type I as type C. It is a very mature EV car dedicated to commuting. Personally I believe that Chevrolet Spark EV had a very short range for North America and was sized mostly for European market. However its sales were not so bad to deserve to get killed so quickly by GM.
@@Damon_MahAs I wrore in another comment we went with buying a Chevy Bolt EUV. As such we plan to keep the car very long time. Naturally it is in our best interests to hope/pray GM survives to not have our car as an orphan. The key to GM future success are EVs. GM hope for that success lies in Ultium technology. Hence we hope GM gets its Ultium technology right in ALL its vehicles not only in some mentioned by you.
Please understand where GM is coming from. First, yes, the charging on it isn't very fast. However, quick charging any Lithium batteries causes them to degrade faster! Never charge over 85% as well. Now, the big reasons to get rid of the Bolt is cost and performance. Its cost is $10,000 to $20,000 less than most other EVs. It also outperformed the other EVs in endurance runs. So, the Bolt has truly embarrassed most of the other EVs. Low profits on the Bolt and super performance (shaming the other EVs), made GM sacrifice my Bolt!
Great video and editing. I think the Chevy engineers did a good job with the layout and making the Bolt user friendly. The ONLY down down side is the inability to charge at 150kW DC. That would place the bolt in territory for most users. Being able to charge at 520 mi/hour would satisfy my needs. But I agree with all of your comments.
I love my fully loaded 23 premier redline. You should have tried the button with the flag on it by the wireless charger, that's the boost mode. I've only DC fast charged once and that was just to try it at evgo, so the slow charge hasn't botherd me yet at home on level two.
This is exactly what is going to slow adoption of BEV for many. They simply don't have the time, nor the patience and don't want the hassle. 03:15 As to the Bolt, there's a ton of NEW stock out there (2023 models) and they're not hard to find, both LT and Premier.
I have 2022 Bolt EUV Premiere with Super Cruise, have it for about 1.5 years and I’m on slight dislike. It can’t compare to Tesla and Super Cruise don’t always work infact most of time doesn’t work, and only a 3 yrs free subscription after that it’s $29.99 a month. Get a Tesla instead.
Purchased a Bolt EUV LT leather redline edition a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it. The build quality is amazing and it feels solid and much heavier on the road. When I read that the Tesla charging network was going to be available in Feb 2024...and GM was planning to replace Apple and Android Auto with the some inferior proprietary software for 2025, I immediately purchased it. Aso, my night vision isn't what it used to be and the headlights on the Bolt are incredibly bright and I can drive safely at night again. Just a winner which GM found a way to screw up (for now).
The local dealer (that never had a single Bolt sitting on the lot) now has several Blazer EVs sitting there. They are huge and fat and start at like $55,000 and they have a _GIGANTIC_ pointless console preventing people from using the car for passengers or driving. At least not people with knees. Actually same reason I couldnt buy a Clarity and got a Volt. I utterly love being able to just slide across to get out of my Silverado when I am blocked on the drivers side. Or being able to seat someone there. Not sure what Chevy was thinking. Unless it was "lets make sure Nate never buys another new car from us."
I believe Chevrolet Bolt EUV did not need to charge at 150 kW on DC current to be a perfect commuter car since it has very fast AC charging speed of 11.5 kW to be charged at home. Two vehicles Toyota BZ4X and Subaru Soltera are much much more expensive that Chevrolet Bolt EUV but have roughly worse DC "fast" charging than the latter. In North America a road tripper should be a larger vehicle at least at Equinox size. That market size is getting crowded in 2024 and especially in 2025 with new launches of cars in that size. The most affordable in that size is entry level of RWD VW ID4 with greatly improved software and an adapter to be available in 2024 to use Tesla Superchargers with 170 kW DC fast charging with very flat steady charging curve. Obviously Tesla Model Y leads the segment but some folks, me included, do not like its harsh ride.
I have a 2023 Bolt EUV Premier redline and a 2023 Rivian R1S. Both my wife and I prefer driving the Bolt. It drives so solid, smooth, quiet. It is a snap to park in busy NYC. The real buttons are much better than finger flicking a screen. GM got it right and then screwed everything up
The car media and EV-Tubers didn't tell you but the Bolt EV was actually cheaper to purchase in late 2020 through late 2021 without the Federal Tax credit than it can be had today with the federal tax credit. Unfortunately, they were too busy hating on the car.
Dave, you said that is the only charging location in SWFL but I think you meant to say the only EA in Collier County. There is that Jule location not too far from where you were. FPL has 4 chargers by the City Mattress off I-75 in Collier County. There are also a number of dealers with Chargepoint chargers in Collier and Lee county. Plus we have EA and 7Charge in Charlotte County. EA is close to opening a new location in Fort Myers and Pilot/EVGo/GM has a location coming in Fort Myers as well. Hopefully things will get better.
I'm in the market For electric vehicle I wanna pull the trigger on the bolt euv But I am afraid of the charging times At Superchargers How long Does it take to charge from let's say 10% to 80%
I have a 2023 bolt euv. I have never used a super charger. I bought in February 2023 and already have 21000 miles. Just get a level 2 charger. You'll do fine.
Question about the bolt. Is a surge protector recommended once you do the 240 outlet installation in your home? Anyone that might know any info is greatly appreciated.
The Bolt is really a great cheap car to jump into EV ownership. I bought a 2017 LT with 42k miles used in late August of 2020 for 18k and it now has 147k miles on it. My wife and I have driven from the Carolinas to California and back 5700 miles in it. The DCFC is definitely the weak spot for the cars, I don't get why they couldn't give us at least 100Kw max.
They announced they are coming back in 2025. I think that's just the Bolt EUV though. They are retooling and coming back on the Ultimum platform. Did I miss something? We just picked up a used 2020 Bolt with a new battery and 5k miles. Love the thing. My wife qualified for the 4k tax credit as well.
Love our 2023 Bolt EUV Premiere Redline Edition which has 13,000 miles on it. We bought an adapter to use with Tesla level 2 chargers not the SuperCharger. It works really well at hotels a lot of which have the Tesla level 2 chargers and are free. Our Bolt EUV has all available options and it is indeed a shame GM isn't going to make it anymore.
Good bye? Aren't these reviewers aware that the BOLT is BEING UPDATED for 2025. With NACS and LFP batteries, it will be a much better car. Hope they make it the size of the Trailblazer.
People like to complain about the Bolt's 55 kW max charging speed, but the truth is, the biggest annoyance in charging a Bolt on trips is not the time it takes to charge, but the possibility that a charger might be broken or full - in other words, the exact same problem you'd have with literally any CCS car, including those luxury SUVs that cost several times the price. If anything, driving a Bolt makes you walk a way more likely to feel satisfied with your charging experience because you don't need to worry about the difference between a 50 kW charger and a 350 kW charger, nor do you need to feel upset it a 350 kW charger is derated to 50 kW, which it often is. Of course, the Bolt's slow charging speeds do make it really important that you plan your trips properly - that is, begin each day with a full battery and, when it is necessary to stop and charge, to try to cycle the battery between 10% and 55%, and avoid staying plugged into to 80% or higher unless absolutely necessary, or you have something to do (e.g. a restaurant is taking a long time to get the food ready). But, if you do plan the charging properly - and the charging itself doesn't disappoint (a big if) - a Bolt can get nearly as good road tripping times as cars far more expensive than it, once you account for all those food and bathroom stops you'd need to be making anyway.
I drove two EUVs and blown away on the first car then I went to look at another one but the one pedal was terrible- it took way too long long to break that I thought I didn’t engage the one pedal but I did. I kept driving it to make sure and I could come to buying it and told the car salesman that something is wrong with the one pedal but if I disengage it then go normal brakes it works fine.
they are on the right track, the Bolt EUV is getting upgraded with safer and longer lasting LFP batteries, faster charging, and NACS charging ports in ‘25 model
Sure, the charging rate isn't as fast as other cars but you have to ask: is it fast enough? For the price, I'm willing to roll the dice. I live in an apt with no charging facilities and pickup a Bolt today - even doing Uber I think this is going to work for me. Chevy, you need to keep something like this in your lineup. I can't afford a $40k ev
We love our Bolt. It is not perfect, and we have an ICE tow vehicle (Pilot) that we use for long winter trips (and our 17' Camping trailer in summer). One day when you have a battery that charges at 150KW, and has less than 25% performance degradation in winter, my Pilot will see less use for longer trips
My wife and I drove a new Bolt. It had decent power and I adjusted to the regenerative braking right off the bat and loved it. The Bolt was not as quiet as our new Ford Maverick Lariat Hybrid, it had a little more road noise. I believe GM and Chevrolet did the right thing by coming out with a somewhat more affordable EV. It’s ashamed they are stopping production of the Bolt. My opinion of EV’s are they are ideal for around town driving. Even though it will be larger than the Bolt, the upcoming Equinox will replace it. What killed the Bolt was the battery fires. Even though there were very few compared to the number of ICE car fires. As far as looks go, I think GM is far ahead of all other companies.
I have thought maybe I wanted an electric car a few years ago almost went and bought a Bolt EV. I decided not to and I'm not sure I'm ready for an EV as a daily driver.
Manufacturers were selling the cart before the horse. Limited or nonexistent charging infrastructure is why other Ev car makers are failing and Tesla is the undisputed gold standard for dependable charging.
One of the rare cars that actually looks really good in white, probably because it makes the car look wider just like a white dress makes a woman look "fat."
GM is retooling and the BOLT will be back in a year. That has happened many times with GM and Ford facilities, over the last several decades as you know.
@@ronniemullis8717 yes, they are going to use the ultium battery platform which will give the Bolt faster charging and they are only building the EUV no more smaller Bolt I think it will be there best seller
Right, but if the so-called "upgrades" mean an extra $10k added to the purchase price, for a budget car buyer who has home charging, it's probably not worth it anymore.
That’s shocking news! Bolt has been the only electric car on my radar for its compact hatchback design, pricing and range! It’s the most practical car! The only American car I ever wanted to buy! I drive a Yaris hatchback and I prefer small efficient practical cars for city driving and parking! Chevy is so freaking stupid!! China has plenty of these small practical cars, but they’re not here yet. They could’ve mass produced these and offered them at low price point and dominate the market segment!!
Lucky enough you can still get great used and even 23 Chevy bolt and EUV''s . Buy them instead of the over priced Blazer EV and Equinox EV. After they got rid of the cheaper trim levels and have decided to remove Android auto and Apple car play I will not be buying a Chevy/GM EV. KIA and Hyundai still offer AA and ACP and don't force you into using their apps. Looks like they want my money and Chevy/GM does not. The next gen Bolt will no longer be affordable.
The new bolt model will come out in 2025.Gm is retooling the Orion plant for the Silverado ev. The new Chevy bolt will release late 2024 after Gm retools the Fairfax Plant. 😊
RUclips "How GM killed the first electric car"
Agreed....they have routinely submitted a good entry into the space only to not emphasize it enough or polish it enough to get recognition.
All the technology of a Tesla drivetrain with a more conventional interior with proper buttons, instrument cluster, CarPlay and android auto, etc.
exactly you don’t discontinue your bestselling EV product until its replacement is actually ready!
Love my Bolt EUV. Owned Bolt's for seven years, great cars.
Let's hope GM knows they screwed up - big time.
You got my like on the heat pump. One of the options i'm looking at when I upgrade
I owned a Bolt EUV for about 2 years. A great, solid car. If it had a faster charging speed, it would be a game-changer.
Did you use that 7500 point of sale as a down payment? Or did you pull money out of pocket and use the 7500 to reduce the purchase price?
To me GM makes poor quality vehicles with tons of issues and worse they do not seem to like making affordable cars anymore. I would honestly never and will never buy a GM product for as long as i live.
We have 2020 MY and Bolt EV. Love driving them both. Bolt EV with studded snow tires is very fun.
Does the charge last you through out your ubering day? do you have to charge like twice a day or just one?
What are your observations?
just bought the 2023 standard edition in black for 17.8 TOTAL with 20k miles
with that tax credit, it would be 13.8!!!
My Chevy Bolt Euv premier with Slow charge speed doesn’t bother me, especially for battery degradation, good video Dave 🎉
I went with the EV, I prefer the hot hatch look over the EUV. I just love it, perfect car for us and great range/efficiency, I haven't needed to use level 3 yet.
I liked the look of the 2017-2019 better.
Have a 2023 Redline. Great little runabout. I will not road trip it. I'm looking forward to seeing what Chevy does with the next gen Bolt
None of the 1300 will be without work. they’ll be able to go to other GM plants in the area until Orion is retooled.
A used Bolt EUV would make a great second vehicle, a commuter, or run about car for anyone
@@kekdogg slight correction, it will put it from D into Park when you shut it off. Not from Nutral
Tesla’s models are always years late
@@Damon_Mah
Except it's already been years, since they first talked about it.
I guess time will tell.
I really think they did too... The Bolts are good cars hate to see them go.
GM will bring the Bolt back a $45K then dealers will add $5K. GM does not want to sell EVs.
It's coming back, but it will be awhile and I'm certain it will be more expensive. I adore my 23 EUV premier
However its sales were not so bad to deserve to get killed so quickly by GM.
yes the Blazer is a software issue hopefully fixed soon
but other GM Ultium vehicles like Hummer, Lyric, Silverado (fleet) are fine for years
@@Damon_MahAs I wrore in another comment we went with buying a Chevy Bolt EUV.
As to the Bolt, there's a ton of NEW stock out there (2023 models) and they're not hard to find, both LT and Premier.
Just a winner which GM found a way to screw up (for now).
please write GM CEO Mary Barra to keep Apple CarPlay, everyone loves it and it’s an advantage over Teslas
Great video Dave I agree if it charged at 150kw it would be the best Electric car out there.
@@nevco8774 Yes I agree. But it would be the best of both worlds.
Dave, your positivity is infectious.
A friend has a 2017 with new battery and drives 166 miles one way to work...L2 charging on both ends with it free at work.
Smart friend.
166 miles! That's a whole nother job.
I bought a 22 euv premier last august, new from dealer.
Love it... except for the charge speed. I drive for uber, sometimes I need to fast charge.
We have two Bolts, and love them. However, given GM's incompetence in determining it's future, it's likely we will buy from another company.....
I have the exact same model in Black.
GM is continuing Bolt EUV as 2025 model
Good bye? Aren't these reviewers aware that the BOLT is BEING UPDATED for 2025. With NACS and LFP batteries, it will be a much better car. Hope they make it the size of the Trailblazer.
The EUV would make an outstanding Uber car. Huge back seat, about like a Checker cab.
Lol no
I drove two EUVs and blown away on the first car then I went to look at another one but the one pedal was terrible- it took way too long long to break that I thought I didn’t engage the one pedal but I did. I kept driving it to make sure and I could come to buying it and told the car salesman that something is wrong with the one pedal but if I disengage it then go normal brakes it works fine.
Electrify America always have 1 or 2 down at any station and if u don’t check the 350 hyper fats is not going more than 40 kw😬😬😳😳
I thought GM was on the right track.
GM 👎
Happy owner of ‘23 EUV Premiere base in Ice Blue Metallic
they are on the right track, the Bolt EUV is getting upgraded with safer and longer lasting LFP batteries, faster charging, and NACS charging ports in ‘25 model
Only the bolt. The Euv is to return in 2025 if I remember correctly. Hopefully we can get a 500kw charging as standard or an option at extra cost.
Gonna be a great value used ;)
Thank You for All that you are doing for our Planet Earth.... Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Namaste.. 🙏🏻 😊 🌈 ✌ ☮ ❤
I loved my top spec 2022 Bolt EUV. It’s just about the perfect sized city car for putting child seats in the back.
Which color is this? Gray Ghost Metallic or the Silver Flare Metallic? Looks different in various lighting and not able to make out for sure.
I looked this up and they are still making The Bolt.
At least they arent taking them back in and crushing them. Again.
how many cars do you own
I had two Chevy Volts and was going to get a Bolt but then Elon announced the Model 3. So glad I waited. Now driving an Ultra Red 2023 Model X.
Bought an EUV Bolt and love it. Chevy is making a mistake.
I imagine the 2025 Bolt will fix those issues!
We are all for "sustainable energy"... That's why we build all illuminated charging stations all over the country... ; - )
As far as looks go, I think GM is far ahead of all other companies.
not sure what you mean Equinox is replacing Bolt, Bolts are still for sale this year and both Bolt 1.5 and Equinox will be sold going forward
They are not killing the bolt 2025 will be back with new battery platform for faster charge and upgrades too
First I heard of that, interesting.
@@ronniemullis8717 yes, they are going to use the ultium battery platform which will give the Bolt faster charging and they are only building the EUV no more smaller Bolt I think it will be there best seller
Right, but if the so-called "upgrades" mean an extra $10k added to the purchase price, for a budget car buyer who has home charging, it's probably not worth it anymore.
the new model will have less expensive LFP batteries which are safer and last longer
@@Damon_Mah yes, and the car will be better than it's earlier versions and it will be one of the best sellers on the market
I think this is the ideal second car for us. I will have to get a used one, should be able to find a great deal!
Keep an eye on Hertz. They're going to be dumping many of them this year with very low milage.
Electric Hooptie !
I don't understand why they can't make the paint match on the body and bumpers anymore. Is it supposed to be a different color?
Lucky enough you can still get great used and even 23 Chevy bolt and EUV''s . Buy them instead of the over priced Blazer EV and Equinox EV. After they got rid of the cheaper trim levels and have decided to remove Android auto and Apple car play I will not be buying a Chevy/GM EV. KIA and Hyundai still offer AA and ACP and don't force you into using their apps. Looks like they want my money and Chevy/GM does not. The next gen Bolt will no longer be affordable.
please write Mary Barra tell her to keep Apple CarPlay that everyone wants
Maybe will put a small gas engine in them.
we looked at them, but the charging was always the thing that stopped us from buying one.
That’s the only good car they made! Shame on them!!
Just like the EV-1... buncha bone-heades! Now they have a recalled Blazer. It's amazing that these executives are so heavily compensated.
If the Bolt is so good, then why would GM stop making them?
The new bolt model will come out in 2025.Gm is retooling the Orion plant for the Silverado ev. The new Chevy bolt will release late 2024 after Gm retools the Fairfax Plant. 😊
Newer battery tech which will charge faster, and likely costs GM less to manufacture.
they will also switch the fast charging connector from CCS to NACS
