What makes this scary to me is the trucker knew he was making David paranoid and in a way he manipulated David into attacking and the fact he was still inside his truck while that was happening
What if the cowboy who left first the restaurant is the driver who has that as an extra "decoy car" so drives away and a few minutes later comes back to his truck?
That's a theory I never thought of!

Like the classic movie of "Thing" let audience decide some questions or not tell everything to make a "boring" movie. Or maybe... let feel in first person the struggle of the main character driver whom trying to solve who is this insane driver opponent.
In the script the trucker's name or company on the truck door was Keller .
He should've just hopped in the truck while it was parked to see who the driver was.
I've always wondered what the trucker was like as a person, as it's definitely someone human driving the tanker. I'd imagine he'd be a loner, working for a fuel company that serviced remote filling stations( the gas company is never stated on the tanker, so it could be a small independent outfit), and travelling acros remote parts of the West. and Midwest. Probably the driver has killed before in remote areas and knows he has less chance of being caught than someone who kills in major cities as a hit and run in the desert is easier to do than a murder in LA.
That would have been a big risk as the driver may have freaked out and attacked him. David might have ended up with a knife in his guts. He should have contacted the highway patrol at Chucks to alert them.
An outstanding movie even still in 2024.

What upset me most about the cafe scenes is that he didn’t finish his sandwich (Swiss cheese on rye, r. y. e) 😡

The Truck Driver could've had other friends along with him, that could've been on his side the truck driver, or his friends may not know that he's a road rager!
