[THE BUS PULLS UP. THE TWO GET IN]

A: I’m sorry about the car, Crowley. The Bentley.
C: Thanks.
A: No, really. I can’t think of anything else in the Universe you loved more.
C: I can.
A: What? What is it, what??
[THE BUS STOPS]
C: Maybe you should look a little closer to home, angel.
[OUTSIDE]
A: Would you uh…like to uh, come in for some coffee? I could do with a cup myself
C: Angel, it’s gone.
A: Oh, my workmen are probably repairing it.
C: I spoke with the firemen before we went to Tadfield. Just to make sure. It’s gone, I’m sorry.
[CROWLEY HUGS AZIRAPHALE]
A: You…you did that? For me?
C: ‘Course I did. I knew how much you loved the place.
A: Oh my- my word!
C: What?
A: I’m the best friend! giggles It’s me!
C: No, no, it’s not! It’s…someone else.
A: Oh? Who is this specimen you speak of?
C: Oh, me and him, we go back a long time.
A: Not as long as you and I, surely.
C: And how would you know that?
A: Oh, Crowley. Why is it so difficult for you, my love?
C: Love? Why did you call me that?
A: Because you are…
C: Angel? Can I ask you a question?
A: Of course.
C: How long do you think two beings can be in love, and together and not even know?
A: Well, I’ve read many, many novels. I don’t think it happens often.
C: I guess not, no. But then again, we’re us.
A: Yes. We’re us.

This is so well written! It felt like a true “what if” moment, exactly how each might have spoken if they’d only been a bit braver…
