I first learned of The Shins from Natalie Portman in the movie Garden State. A wonderful movie and actress. Anyway, I have been a fan since. The lyrics, compostions, harmonies, and the execution of the songs is just first rate. The last time a band stood out from a Soundtrack this wonderfully was the Australian Band The Morning After Girls song Still Falling in Lost in Translation.
i just recently encountered this album i had really only known one song by the shins , this whole album is growing on me ,like music use to when i wore a younger man's clothes (I know billy Idol would be rolling over in his grave me saying that)
It's a crime that talent like this goes largely un-recognized, while Taylor Swift can't rake in money fast enough. Ah well, at least we can enjoy this.
