I can’t thanks you enough for these videos! Your positive attitude is helping me not to freak out - having my RTC surgery in 3 weeks.
Thank you! It’s great to hear that these videos have helped you. Reach out if you have any questions. Best wishes on your surgery, recovery, and rehabilitation. Stay patient, positive and persistent.
@@AnneSchmidt Hi Ann I just had my rotator cuff repair surgery today. I’m wondering what you did with the ice therapy polar machine when you needed to go to the bathroom, did you take the cuff off or just disconnect tubes? And did you leave the machine on all night cycling 20 min. on 20 min. off? Please let me know and thank you so much! Janet
@@JanetKinney-o6j I just disconnected the tube after turning the machine off. It drips a bit of water, but better than taking the whole pad off and on. Almost impossible to put on alone. It took me a bit to realize you press the silver tabs in to release it from the connection. My machine had a long plug in cord so sometimes I just pulled the ice bucket with me places lol. I would run that for an hour at minimum and then take a break but not take off the shoulder portion, just unplugged it. I iced as much as possible almost all day at times. I bought ice trays and just keep a cycle of using and freezing.
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You. I am in my 7th week of healing and hit a bump in the road. I feel like giving up but your video has inspired me to keep on keeping on! Through the pain, frustration and sadness, to keep on trying.
You are so very welcome! This recovery is long and brutal. Tested me in ways I never expected or imagined. You got this. Stay positive, patient, perseverant, and keep smiling. It’s a tough go, but will be worth it in the long run. I’ve had back to back years of it now that I have had both shoulders fixed the same way. Just started weightlifting in month 9 of rehab.
Thanks for these videos, surgery next Tuesday, been putting it off for a long time because I can pretty much do everything I need to do with little pain at first, but later in the day it's annoying pain. Thank you for the upbeat commentary on your progress, makes me feel a bit easier on having this done.
It’s great to hear sharing my experiences and journey has helped you! Best wishes and here if you have any questions.
Have my surgery on Monday these videos are super helpful
Best wishes on your recovery and rehabilitation! Great to hear my videos and journey was helpful. Here if you have any questions. Had both my shoulders fixed and in year two of my left and year one of my right.
Having surgery on my left shoulder this Friday. Thank you for sharing.
Best wishes and thank you!
Thank u so much. I'll have to do this by myself too. I hope my 4-6 weeks go by fast. I have a 85% partial tear.
It’s good you are getting it taken care of! You got this. I had a full tear that was retracing. It’s better to be proactive than reactive.
@@AnneSchmidt thank you. 😊
Thank you! for taking the time sharing your personal experience.
You are very welcome and thank you for the thanks!
I have a mushie too! I'll be using mine after surgery as well lol.
Pillow or any thing that can help hold up sleeping with the sling for 6 weeks is highly recommended! Best wishes with you surgery and recovery ❤️🩹
How were you getting to your PT appointments? Did you have a dedicated driver or did the therapist come to your house? I’m having rotator cuff repair, bicep tenodesis , & distal clavicle excision on 2/11/25.
I’m scheduled for this surgery Torn Rotator Cuff and Labrum and possible some other damage. I’m not looking forward to it. It’s scheduled 30-Nay. I’m hoping it all goes well.
I hope it all goes well for you! Keep me posted and reach out if you have any questions or need advice!
@@AnneSchmidt
Thanks 🙏, I really appreciate it.
☺️
Get well soon mam God will help you
Thank you
I was cringing the whole time you were doing this video, thinking you were going to lose control and drop your arm down! What was your diagnosis for your surgery? I have a full tnickness tear of my supraspinatous tendon with retraction. I was told I may need surgery. Thx
Get it done sooner rather than later.. Xx
In the description I have what I had done on my shoulder. Yes, if you have a full thickness tear you should have surgery.
I just had surgery 4 days ago repairing my supraspinatus which was a full thickness tear also I had a small full thickness tear in my subscapularis with some tearing in my infraspinatus muscle. My labrum was also slightly torn along with some biceps tendinosis the worst part of my pain is mostly gone although I'm still experiencing this discomfort I go back in 10 days for my first post-op visit hopefully all it works out for the best
How did it go? Your injuries are very similar to mine. I am at month 10 and my left shoulder is now better than my right. Finally can say I am joyous to have done this journey and surgery and when I need my right done I will know it is worth all the hard work, sleeplessness, pain and immobility.
@@AnneSchmidt going on 2 weeks today. Have my first post op visit tomorrow
@@Melodycat918 be patient and positive. it's a long go for this recovery, but you got this! I am so very pleased with my almost recovery now at month 10, but at week 2 I was so unsure of how I would recovery.
Your pain is gone at 4?
@@kandacepatterson7965 no. It was not gone after 4 days. I said the worst part of the pain which was incisional was gone. I'm 8 months post op now as I'm writing this. All I'm having now is post therapy soreness. About 60 percent of my strength had returned. All of my ROM is back except for behind the back ROM which is slowly progressing.
I’m day 5 too… wish you’d have mentioned ur pain level here. I’m still on oxy :(
Hope your recovery is going well. I just had rotator cuff surgery on October 10. I find putting on and taking off the sling is really difficult pain wise. For me putting on a shirt is also tough. RUclips videos make it look so easy doing these tasks. After using the oxy for 3-4 days I find using an ice machine works much better at pain relief than narcotics. Take care and best of luck with your recovery.
@@davidmcgahan8140 yeah, (day 16 today)....ice was very helpful the first 7-8 days, now sometimes the ice machine is too much for me even on level 1, but I know I will need it after I start PT next week. Pain is very low now...I am just dealing with the frustration of not being able to do much and accidently moving it in a way I shouldn't....I never had much issue with the sling...are you doing gentle pendulum swings a few x each day?
For your bicep repair, did they release it and re-anchor it?
Yes, the surgeon did. It’s called bicep tenodesis. I’m glad I had mine done, but it was one of my most sensitive anchors of the five I had drilled into my humerus bone long term. I still have some pain or soreness at 18 weeks if I seem to push myself a bit to far that day.
@@AnneSchmidt Thanks Anne for the info. Tomorrow’s the “day” for me. Nervous!!
Hope you are well! Sorry for the very delayed response.
@@AnneSchmidt no worries. The doctor did great work, procedure lasted 4 1/2hrs and he told my wife “I’m exhausted after all that.” Woke up with 7 punctures to include the bicep repair, but I can safely say it’s one of the most successful procedures I’ve ever had done!
@@WDFJR16345hope you have made a full ❤️🩹 recovery!
Excellent, I live alone
Being alone as its perks and drawbacks. One perk is you can sleep alone however you need and take up the whole bed! Haha
The drawback is you have to do everything yourself and you will need to be creative, patient and take extra time for everyday activities.
I live alone too. My surgery is 2 days away. I have a little dog to take care of. I really dread this!! So grateful for this informative video!
@@MicheleJane how did you do????
@@SuperHowyalikemenow Surprisingly well! The hardest thing was trying to tie my hair back. That was tough! I got a steering knob on my car so I could drive to physical therapy...left handed too! It's a long recovery period to normalcy though. I'm in no rush to get my other shoulder done...IF I ever do! ha!
Glad to hear you’re better! Thanks
6 friggin weeeeks??😮
Yup! I had my right shoulder repaired the same this past June. No driving and definitely wear your sling for 24hrs a day for 6 weeks.
Thank you for the video. I had a tenodesis 5 days ago. Did your bicep hurt from the humerus anchor? Most my pain comes from top of shoulder but my bicep does hurt, assuming from the anchor?
Yes. My bicep tenodesis anchor was very sore for a long time with both my right and left rotator cuff surgeries. It also caused some nerve pains.
@@AnneSchmidt appreciate you getting back to me, thank you
😊
Dumb question... Are you videoing with your cell phone?
Yes I am.
Does the sling hurt your neck?
Yes, my back and neck was sore while wearing it 24 hrs a day for six weeks. Plus, my back remained sore many months after.
