Holy Shit!! What a kickass version of this song! The guitar riffs are amazing! The way the video is in black and white totally redefines this song! Once again Def Leppard proves they can kick some ass! I've loved this band for so long, I wish the radio stations would play more 80's rock music because, let's face it, the era of Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Queen, Crue, Quiet Riot was unbelievably superior to the crap that is on the radio now! Def Leppard, you guys are phenomenal!!
You took the words right out of my mouth! Damn, sister! Radio has completely changed. Back in the 80's my stereo was my life. In my room and in my car. And the band's like you said kicked ass! They were real talent playing real instruments writing music and lyrics unlike anything today.it seems like now anyone can be a *star* with auto tune and computer generated music. Wow where did the good old days go?
The original is from Depeche Mode. It doesn't inspire me to do a cover version that's similar to the original. But to do a cover version differently, to bring a different spirit and perspective, that's it. So for me, the best cover of Personal Jesus is from Johny Cash. ruclips.net/video/qpYW3qng78E/видео.html
I've loved Def Leppard for decades! This is so awesome. Depeche Mode was a great and amazing band too. This just made my day! I love you Joe and the band. Rocking the world!
I don't think they are up to the challenge. Even though I would love to hear their version of "Pour Some Sugar On Me", after the 80s, I think Depeche Mode went a bit "dark". Even Depeche Mode's upbeat has become their version of "dark" upbeat. I mean, "DARK" when you listen. "Pour Some Sugar On Me" is upbeat and "lively", which it takes "good spirit" from all members to perform. Since "Depeche Mode" has nothing left from the 80s' spirit, this may not be a good idea even though it may be worthy of listening just because it is "Depeche Mode".
So I assume most everyone here is a Def Leppard fan with the exception of a few Depeche Mode fans and those who were just curious because honestly I love Leppard but I was like what the fuc when I saw this. But if you've never seen or heard the CMT Crossroads that Def Leppard did with Taylor Swift it is absolutely amazing and Brilliant I mean they nailed that I actually now prefer that version of photographed to the original like it's just something about it pops man they did a few of her songs & a few of Def Leppard songs but you guys definitely need to check that out it's really cool

I'll be upfront and say that I'm a HUGE fan of Depeche Mode, I've seen them over 12 times on 3 different continents and even met Dave, Martin, Alan and Martin during the World Violation tour in 1990. That said, Def Leppard was my first rock concert ever, back in 1988 during the Hysteria world tour - yes, I was at the Montreal show, the one that Joe Elliott and Rick Savage have gone on record as saying that was one of their loudest shows ever. I loved Hysteria and Pyromania as a child and then as a teen and adult got into Depeche. So seeing bands like Def Leppard and Duran Duran showing respect and giving a homage to Depeche Mode by covering their songs is kind of bittersweet and strange at the same time since I remember how everyone blew off Depeche Mode back then as synth lightweights. I wonder what Martin Gore thinks of this cover. I know he's spoken highly of Johnny Cash's version in the past but I'd be curious to hear what he thinks of this. I for one, think it's great when musicians show respect to their peers by covering their songs in a completely new genre. It should happen more often.

Yes I understand that people have their own opinions but jeez if you just look at everything these guys have been through & not to mention their ages. It would seem as if a person could see how time has changed all of them & us as well. I've been a Lep fan for 30+ years & for them to be able to take a song like this & remake it with their own personal touch seems like that in itself tells the true story. They rocked this one & I will forever love Def Lep & I've only got one thing to say about all of y'all with your negativity...& that's to say just keep on hatin' !! Because when y'all are doing all that the rest of us true Lep fans will still be rockin' & rollin' on our way to the grave!! Love all of you Joe, Sav, Rick, Phil & Viv 💜 Keep rockin' guys & showing the world just how it's done 😍
Well said! Bravo! I remember the first time I heard them back in the early 80’s. I had traded something (I forget what) to a friend for a Walkman and I was on my way to see a girl lol. Back before cellphones, laptops, social media et al. When you had to actually leave your house and go see someone in person lol. The only good thing I can say about social media is most of these young people will still be virgins at 30 yo lol Good times back then.
@Angela Barrett.. You're comment was on point girl ! I think people that wanna talk bad about the band are just a bunch of haters, who also hate themselves. It must make them feel better putting others down. Or maybe jealousy ? Whatever the reason, they need to know that Def Leppard is a strong group of people, who have been around for over 40 years, and going strong. And they have brought great music to us during that time, along with some awesome shows. So all you haters just keep on hating all you like. Aint gonna change a thing !!!!

Def Leppard for life!!
Well said! Bravo! I remember the first time I heard them back in the early 80’s. I had traded something (I forget what) to a friend for a Walkman and I was on my way to see a girl lol. Back before cellphones, laptops, social media et al. When you had to actually leave your house and go see someone in person lol. The only good thing I can say about social media is most of these young people will still be virgins at 30 yo lol
Good times back then.
Hear, hear from a fellow forever-Lep fan!
Def leppard pyromania the first album i ever owned in 83. A year later DM grabbed my attention w people are people. Love both bands earlier stuff, raw and just special.
Вот уж не думала услышать такое.очень круто слышать одну из любимых песен в исполнении другой любимой группы.неожиданно приятно и не испортили,голос,конечно,уже не тот,но запал все равно остался.

Не стареют душой ветераны.Браво!
Good to see Vivian looking so well :)
But Joe looks terrible!
watchtheskies They all look pretty good to me.
@@katiedrew4708 you're right, but as far as I know only Vivian is recovering from Cancer
@@terrymoser47, I've been with Def since 79'. They All Look Great! 57 years young here and don't feel old at all. Some just don't age well . Joe is still attractive to me after all those years. But, not as fine as he was in 96'.
bad to see joe so old and lacking emotion when singing. Just like Andrew Fletcher.
Very faithful to the original.
You make my day Jajajajaa
i truly feel sorry for generations that did not get to grow up with def leppard and depeche mode
This cover of Depeche Mode was wonderful !! I love English bands for being very competent and talented. I just witnessed a legend keep alive the work of another legend. It's amazing!!
This is the best version of this song besides the original!!
great version, but Johnny Cash still did it better
@@jevanglass9468 : my thoughts exactly!
@@jevanglass9468 That’s subjective. I like this version much better.
