Holy Shit!! What a kickass version of this song! The guitar riffs are amazing! The way the video is in black and white totally redefines this song! Once again Def Leppard proves they can kick some ass! I've loved this band for so long, I wish the radio stations would play more 80's rock music because, let's face it, the era of Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Queen, Crue, Quiet Riot was unbelievably superior to the crap that is on the radio now! Def Leppard, you guys are phenomenal!!
You took the words right out of my mouth! Damn, sister! Radio has completely changed. Back in the 80's my stereo was my life. In my room and in my car. And the band's like you said kicked ass! They were real talent playing real instruments writing music and lyrics unlike anything today.it seems like now anyone can be a *star* with auto tune and computer generated music. Wow where did the good old days go?
The original is from Depeche Mode. It doesn't inspire me to do a cover version that's similar to the original. But to do a cover version differently, to bring a different spirit and perspective, that's it. So for me, the best cover of Personal Jesus is from Johny Cash. ruclips.net/video/qpYW3qng78E/видео.html
I love how metal heads and rockers respect Depeche Mode. Def Leppard has always been a favorite of mine and to see them pay tribute to Depeche Mode just really kicks ass.
I saw them in 2015 and they were absolutely great. I saw Bryan Adams around the same time as you and I was amazed that his voice was exactly like on the albums.

Which voice? I don't hear anything extraordinary, to be honest. I respect Leppard , not a huge fan but always respectful of their career. I even saw them live once, around the year 1998 It was just ok.

I love your interpretation of this song. I'm not a very religious person, but I do love this song, so from now on, I'm always going to think of it as a song about friendship. ❤
I'll be upfront and say that I'm a HUGE fan of Depeche Mode, I've seen them over 12 times on 3 different continents and even met Dave, Martin, Alan and Martin during the World Violation tour in 1990. That said, Def Leppard was my first rock concert ever, back in 1988 during the Hysteria world tour - yes, I was at the Montreal show, the one that Joe Elliott and Rick Savage have gone on record as saying that was one of their loudest shows ever. I loved Hysteria and Pyromania as a child and then as a teen and adult got into Depeche. So seeing bands like Def Leppard and Duran Duran showing respect and giving a homage to Depeche Mode by covering their songs is kind of bittersweet and strange at the same time since I remember how everyone blew off Depeche Mode back then as synth lightweights. I wonder what Martin Gore thinks of this cover. I know he's spoken highly of Johnny Cash's version in the past but I'd be curious to hear what he thinks of this. I for one, think it's great when musicians show respect to their peers by covering their songs in a completely new genre. It should happen more often.
To combine my favorite electron band of all time, Depeche Mode, and my favorite rock bad of all time, Def Leppard, to do this song is just pure GENIUS. The song was kept the same, but with an amazing rock twist. Pure genius guys! I hope Depeche Mode is proud of this version as well. :)
I've been listening to Def Leppard since I was 8 back in 1984 to come along on this gut wrenching white knuckle rollercoaster with Lep has been an honor and pure blissful pleasure..I remember wearing my ripped jeans peaking through the doors at a concert in Kansas..my parents wouldn't let me go so my mom feeling awful about it dropped me off outside of the show..I sat by the doors and sang every song through some tears of coarse but I lived lol..barely🤩💎💥✨💋🔥👁️💃🐆
I’ve been rocking their music since I was an early teen back in ‘80 when OTTN was released. I latched onto them instantly - and have never let go - because their signature sound spoke to me. Despite the fact that they achieved mega world-wide fame, I’m still more a fan of their grittier early stuff when they had Clark/Willis.
