- In this lifecasting tutorial video, we demondtrate making a silicone rubber mold of a child's face using Smooth-On's Body Double silicone rubber. Body Double silicone rubbercan be used to make a mold of a face, hand, arm, leg, torso, or any other body part.
Body Double "Standard Set" and Body Double "Fast Set" are long lasting skin safe lifecasting silicone rubbers that can be applied directly to the skin to make molds of the face, hands and other body parts.
The rubber cures quickly and will reproduce perfect detail from any original model - far better detail than any alginate.

Holy cow! this video was pretty decent but it sent me over the moon when it included how long it took thank you so much!
Thank you for watching! Don't forget to subscribe!
@mysterymelody Applying the rubber is fairly fast, and the mold is lightweight. Some models even tell us that it is very meditative and relaxing!
@leostyle7771 Generally the eyes are sculpted open in the final casting. This can be done by pouring melted wax or clay into the Body Double mold instead of the resin. The wax or clay casting can then be re-sculpted and re-molded.
@Tom1988ism This can be used as a memento to save for years, or give to a relative. Lifecastings are used in many different sculptural and memorial applications.
i'm watching this on my tv with surround (through HDMI) and i was scared that my mom would think it was porn because of the intro music xDDDD
@Dustinavollmar The mix is 1A:1B resin and 1 part metal powder. We also have a metal cold casting video on our channel which gives more information.
wow...🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 fantabulous
@MrEJR26 You could use our Rebound 25 silicone for non-lifecasting applications.
@SANCxFREAK Communication is key in keeping your model comfortable.
Can you use a silicone swim cap when using body double?
Not gonna lie. The model experience looks like my worst nightmare brought to life. Process steps seem straightforward though. Thanks for the comprehensive tutorial.
If I wanted to use this to make a mold to work off of for prosthetics would I be able to use plaster of paris to fill the mold? Is it possible to do more of the head, into the hairline if a skull cap was used??
Absolutely. Here is a video showing a full head: Lifecasting Tutorial: Making a Mold of a Head using Body Double Silicone
Can you use this stuff and the same procedure ono making a leg to foot??
how much liquid life casting silicone rubber is needed to make a full body(head to leg) shape/mold ?
please, answer it honestly.
that was just amazing

What is the recommended amount for a "full" arm cast? (Finger tips to shoulders)
would it be alright to pour a gypsum cement like ultra 30 plaster into something like this?
Geez!! They did it SO much quicker and easier on "Mission: Impossible" 45 years ago!!
Ooh, I hope my model doesn't become claustrophobic (Surprisingly, this happens during these kinds of situations)
I really want to try this!
Can I buy a similar product at Walmart or Target?
As a novice can you tell me the exact names of what to buy at the store? I got confused lol.
Hi there, thank you for watching. To completely replicate this video you will need Body Double™ Standard silicone, Body Double™ Release Cream, Gypsona® Plaster Bandages, Smooth-Cast™ 325 and Bronze Powder.
Awesome!

For how many minutes long should the model keep his eyes closed in total?
Wow that child was very well behaved and patient that would of made me unpatient.
what if u wanted to add eyes? how will i do that?
is it tearable ?
is there a place where u can get it especially done??
Yes thanks for asking.
Not to our knowledge. Check out Amazon or Dick Blick. Our products are also sold there.

Nice
Body Double Release Cream looks like a petroleum jelly or vaseline.
He is a mommy!😄😂
The part when she wraps the face up make him look like a mummy O.o
Next time, make a mold of his back and shoulders.
This is a great idea! We will forward it to our video team.
Can this be poured? I need to make a copy of my ears. Yes I'll have ear plugs in.
It is best to apply this in a thin layer. For pour on lifecasting we would recommend alginate.
what kid is that lucky?!
lol i know, maybe its for having a memery for when he grows up or something. or maybe is for a mask
