- A former UK defence official has issued a stark warning to the government amid rising geopolitical tensions. Rob Johnson, the ex-director of the UK Defence Ministry's office of net assessment and challenge, warned that the UK armed forces are "unprepared for conflict of any scale". Boris Johnson came to stop a Russian/Ukraine peace. The behaviour of the British government in sending weapons to Ukraine and training their troops has been very foolish and against the interests of the British people. But this news that Britain could not defend itself is surely not surprising to anyone who reads the news. What is hard to understand is why the British government is so russophobic..
Exactly. The west creates it's own enemies. Russia has tried to be friends with us multiple times but our awful leaders rebuffed them and now want us all to go die fighting Russians because they themselves couldn't get over some stupid political grudge.

The ADF hiring policy is f*cking pathetic. I applied for the ADF a couple of years ago and during first round interview (why does a rifleman position require a multi round interview in the first place FFS!) I was asked what I would do if I was on patrol on the side of a jungle river near a waterfall with my squad when suddenly we come into contact with the enemy. I said I'd yell contact and shoot back while ducking for cover. I was immediately disqualified, told my application was rejected, that I wouldn't be able to apply again for an entire year and that I needed to think about my answer. I basically WTF'd to the interviewer, and then he angrily explained that the correct procedure is to surrender to avoid casualties. I called this out and said what about jumping off the waterfall, and he just looked at me like I was the idiot and said "it's too high, you died in the fall, great job now we have casualties, now we are gonna have to deal with the media" and then he told me to leave. I asked what the purpose of having an army is if your standing orders are to immediately surrender upon ANY contact with the enemy. He told me SAS do all the work, just wait for them to rescue you. Pathetic, absolutely pathetic army. Not surprised people are leaving in droves.

@@jellojiei6061 How about instead of comparing the size of the country, you compare the size of the two armies fighting and how many were sent. Russia is not at a numeral advantage, but has rather spent most of the war, and all of the early war at a disadvantage? Why? I don't know, but Putin has only done 1 small mobilization round and hasn't done much else to increase the size of the Russian military. For all of 2022 and most of 2023 there were less Russian Z forces than there were Ukrainian fighters, Ukraine always held the numerical advantage until recently. Again, not sure why Russia decided to do this, but my guess has something to do with Russia choosing a defensive doctrine over a offensive one, and the fact that Russian soldiers are just being rotated into Ukraine for a couple of months then rotated back out. I think Russian's are using Ukraine the same way Germany used the Spanish Civil War with the Condor Legion. They are getting experience for their troops so that if a later real NATO war breaks out they had the advantage. Meanwhile Ukraine has done so many mobilization waves that it had to lower the conscriptable age limit. Ukraine has it's entire army fighting Russia while Russia has maintained a small expeditionary force and aside from adding a few new units like Wagner and Kadyrov's men, hasn't really ever increased the size of it's Z expeditionary force in any significant manner. They have two other forces of the same size, O and V force which still haven't entered Ukraine, and then after those two, you still have the rest of the regular Russian Armed Forces. Remember that before the war in early 2022, Ukraine had the second largest army in Europe, it was bigger than UK, France and Germany's army, and now the average age of the Ukrainian soldier has been bumped from being in the 20's to somewhere in the 40's. Russian causalities are not as high because they are mostly doing defense sitting on the huge defensive line that protects the Donbass region. Outside of small village pushes Russia is mostly just sitting there letting Ukrainian's meatgrind themselves on the defensive lines.
