  • I got a new laser engraver that I think you guys are going to be interested in. It has a compact design that is easy to set up and put away, it fits on most work spaces, and it is big enough to do a guitar body. Also, importantly, it does some really great burning work.
    Find the laser here:

    This man works hard with making perfection as best he can all the while he is narrating and recording the process. You deserve more views and love than the typical RUclips influencer. Best of luck in your work

    Not sure if you caught my video on the OLM3 but it is definitely a killer little machine. I was able to cut 3/4” pine with it in a single pass. No need for an external air assist pump. The OLM3 has an integrated air assist where it directs the laser cooling fan air down past the laser and onto your project.

      Awesome; I need to figure out how to use this thing properly. That sounds like great functionality. Do you use lightburn for yours?

      I was going to reference your video but felt it would be rude for me to do so. I love both of your channels because you guys are the most realistic and humble guitar guys on RUclips in my eyes - no doubt! We're very blessed to have both of you in the guitar community on RUclips! Thank you both for the awesome content!

      wouldnt the external air assist pump allow even more deep cutting possibly? even with what its got? Do you have to buy the base (honeycomb) extra? or does it come with something?

    Nice! I've had mine for a few months and it's fast and very easy to use. I love it. Congrats on the new addition, both the laser as well as the little tike!

    That is awesome! You could do entire fretboards and inlays with that! I bet they make an extension kit so you can do graphics on bodies! Excited to see some of this tech included in the channel! Awesome acquisition Brad! You can easily put your name on all of your scratch builds!

    I just got the Ortur LM2 Pro S2 with the extension kit. Still playing with it but but am well impressed with it so far. Great for cutting nice square templates and inlays.

    I bet you could do a whole dining room table with that if you're careful lining it up for each patch.

      Now that you mention it; I think that’s probably accurate.

    awesome, i am so close to pulling the trigger on getting one after you and Dan (Guns n Guitars) got them. Im guessing this is the best you could recommend for engraving and fingerboard stuff do you think? Does the honeycomb base come with it to stop the laser going right through? As Dan said, Do you need to buy an external air assist pump? I wonder if a guitar body fits in for engraving? How does the laser know where the material to burn starts?

    • @BradAngove
      @BradAngove  Год назад

      This is certainly a good option. The base doesn’t come with it but you can put a random piece of metal underneath. It doesn’t need to be the honeycomb or something like that.
      You can cut without the air assist pump, but having it would help. The laser doesn’t know what’s under it; you need to position it.

    Very cool! Can you laser etch your metal pickguards with it?

    • @BradAngove
      @BradAngove  Год назад +1

      This isn’t the right type for etching metal, but I could cut vinyl or masking tape with it and then sandblast.

    Noob question: Would you be able to engrave something into a guitar headstock? Just thinking how would you or could you support it and clamp it in place? (thinking a typical LP neck and angled headstock)

    • @BradAngove
      @BradAngove  Год назад +1

      Yeah, if you could put the laser on a sawhorse set up like this and then bolt the headstock down using a tuner hole or something you could engrave it.

    Watched this and my youtube stream filled up with lazer engravers. Last night Ortur did an instructional video on engraving musical instruments. They have an extension table for doing instruments. I don't build enough anymore for it to be worth it. 5 years I would already have ordered.
    Getting much sleep?

      I didn’t realize they had an extension. That’s awesome. Very little sleep haha.

    Using proper eye protection goes without saying.

    • @BradAngove
      @BradAngove  Год назад +1

      That’s interesting. Lasers don’t kick up any dust or chips, and ones like this aren’t very bright. I’ve never used eye protection for them, but in fairness I guess the one I used for years before this had a cover.

    Cant wait for you to engrave "live, laugh, love" onto the back of next years GGBO, shiplack front with whitewashed finish and hardwood flooring control covers... What eles are laser engravers truly for?

    No mention of safety precautions with safety glasses. Accidents happen.

    • @BradAngove
      @BradAngove  Год назад

      I do not recommend putting your eyeball under the laser. Other than that; it’s not kicking up sawdust or wood chips so I don’t think eye protection is much of an issue.

    • @johngrant5749
      @johngrant5749 Год назад

      High risk of reflections. Software problems could move the laser to a reflective part of the xy. Once your eye is zapped that’s it.

    • @BradAngove

      Can’t argue with that.
