great and informative vid, just make sure you also warm up solenoid when you test resistance ( resistance will increase when warmed up ) often solenoids will fail when warmed up but apprear ok at room temp. cheers
It depends on the result of the injector on the test bench, and the difference with the performance you need to achieve. You test it using the same shim size as before, see how it goes and then increase or decrease the shims size until you hit the sweet spot. For the beginning, take note of what shims you change, what sizes, and what results you get. With experience, you can get it right at the first attempt.

You must make your own tests, changing a shim with one a little larger or a little smaller, testing again, and taking note of what changes and in what direction, after some tries you will learn to predict what shim (or combination) does what. If you do not have a test bench to correctly make these tests and make sure the end results are correct, you cannot do any of this, even if you manage to get an injector working, you can never be sure if the calibration is correct, unless you test it directly on the engine and hope for the best, whihc is not a good idea.
Great video. Can disassemble a bosh common rail injector to clean the nozzle. Just i was thinking to mark the nut with the body when put back will be in the same place. Can I do that for cleaning?

First of all, we must note that if an injector has a problem, what we recommend is taking it to a specialized workshop who will repair and recalibrate it correctly, we do not recommend disassembling for cleaning alone. Marking the reciprocal position of nozzle nut and body is not useful. when tightening, the important thing is to screw the nut completely and then tighten the correct force with a torque wrench, the alignemnt makr would not provide any useful information in this case.

What if the slonoid has a intermiton issue as this can be a common problem with these injectors after a certain age reading the resistance will not tell you this shurely

There are several ways, from the simple spray testing with a hand operated nozzle tester, to looking inside the nozzle with a borescope to make sure the there is no dirt occluding the holes, to testing the whole injector on the test bench and seeing if the deliveries are within tolerances, if they can be calibrated with shims, or if they are so far out that some component may be compromised.

Just cleaning the injectors is not correct. We recommend taking your injectors to a specialized Diesel service workshop, which can replace the worn parts, and calibrate the injectors doing a proper remanufacturing.

The resistance test is just preliminary. The injector is always tested on the test bench and any issues will emerge.
