Recipe (my interpretation): 2 ripe bananas, 1 cup rolled oats. 1/2 cup peanut butter, 1 teaspoon each chia and flax seed, 1/4 cup blueberries, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon amla powder, 1-2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips. Place spoonfuls (cookie style) on tray lined with parchment paper and bake at 400f for 15 min. Am I close?
@@marymiller7477 Personally if I do not have walnuts I substitute with almonds or cashews. My grocery store has a middleEastern pita bread made with minimal ingredients. If I buy any pita bread that is the one I get. Not sure of the name off hand. I would not buy dempsters bread as it is full of unwanted ingredients as well as many other brands.
thank you! I made it after the show and loved them as well as my family. A week later, I couldn't remember the ingredients other than ripe bananas, peanut butter and oats. Thanks for taking the time to share!
As an Indian, I always get a chuckle when folks start referring to everyday food we eat as superfood. I am glad to see my native foods getting recognized for values that our ancestors knew thousands of years ago. Nellikai which is the term for amla in the local language of my state in India is a good source of Vit C. It is also widely used by diabetics to control blood sugar. Also if try the Indian style nellikai pickles if you can get your hands on it.
Thank you. My husband tried for 3-4 years to follow this on his own, with my help, when he learned he needed open heart surgery to avoid the actual surgery. He declined gradually for the next 3 years. But he suddenly passed away a month ago in his sleep unexpectedly after a good day with a surprise visit from his favorite niece. I will continue his and my quest on the WFPB diet for myself, son, and daughter ( and hopefully grandchildren yet to come. God bless!! You inspire me everyday.
. . . just gotta say how much fun you are to enjoy & learn from, Jane...you're so down to earth & just lots of fun...God Bless You & your beautiful familia, So Much .... 🥰🥰🥰
I absolutely loved this video. Such healthy and quick recipes. I loved the interaction with Brian and your daughter as well!! I am a lifetime fan of ANY content that you guys put out!!❤❤❤
Most of the time these videos refer you to a cookbook. I like how Crile just invented this starting with three simple ingredients and make it how ever you want. She does say 2 bananas, 1 cup oats and the half cup peanut butter. The basic 3 ingredient recipe. I love how she does not dirty a bunch of dishes and just dumps mixes and bakes the cookies. I am going to make the basic three ingredients and make one with choc chips and the other with raisins and put flax in both. The other recipes on the video are all in the book. I love watching y’all.
I made these oat cookies ( breakfast bars/cookies) they were excellent😁 simple and easy. I added a tsp of baking powder which fluffed them up a bit 😁Great job!
I made Crile’s cookies for the first time today. I subbed almond butter for the PB. I didn’t gave blueberries. I used raisins. These are great! Thank you. Rile for sharing.
I made the smoky walnut quinoa salad today! LOVE it! I make a version of scones from be a plant based woman warrior! I make them with rhubarb! Thanks for wonderful recipes!
Just made a double batch of these for a weekend trip. SO good - perfect snack for sitting in the airport and the rest will be perfect for a snack between meetings. Thank you for this!
Thanks so much for taking the time to show us your recipes. I always enjoy the Esselstyn family. Every last one of them! I have your cookbooks so I can't wait to make the recipes you showed us!❤
Love this whole episode. Really enjoy the long form episodes and this particular topic. Keep up the great work and will be trying all of these recipes in fact I followed along on the last two in your book.
Thank you so much for this video! I have learned so much from watching your videos. I’m a newbie. I went WFPB the Friday after Thanksgiving 2023. Loving it!!!
I made Crile's breakfast cookie and absolutely loved it. It will replace the one I had been making. The blueberries were a great addition. Never thought to add fresh fruit before!
They look delicious! Making them right now. Thank you! ❤ update: Just took them out of the oven. They are delicious! Bringing some to my elderly neighbor. I’m also wondering if I can substitute the peanut butter with chickpeas. I might give that a try.
Peanuts have palm oil in them. Make your own at home. To bind the desert use I tablespoon of Chia seeds wait in 2 spoons of water is enough. Yes, put natural ingredients in your meals, and desserts. Gooseberry powder she has said. But unfortunately, they get Aflatoxin on these ready-made bags. You think they choose the best product for us, especially in hot countries like India and protect these nuts from getting Aflatoxin. Or in other countries. When I buy red ones little ones good for your eyes what was its name? Remembered Goji berries. Last 3 years couldn't find any product clean in Tesco. I complained a couple of times not to sell them but here we go. You can see by your eye. There are micro-white pieces or dots on every fruit. It means that the product got Aflatoxin😢😢😢 So use your common sense & don't trust anything you hear, please. For many dry fruit or nuts check Google you will read as I do. Thanks also Doctors are telling us not to eat Palm oil or Rapeseed oil . Check the products before you buy. Read the labels they advice us. You like to eat vegan but these are poison to your body as well. Regards from London🙏✨💫💯
Just an fyi, capers are not pickled juniper berries they are unripe pickled buds from a bush called Capparis Spinoza which grows wild across the Mediterranean & parts of Asia.
I just happened to have two super-ripe bananas in the fridge, so tonight I made Crile's Blueberry Breakfast Cookies. YUMMMM!! Only changes I made were: I used about a T of cacao powder in place of the chocolate chips, and added about a T of wheat bran with all the other ingredients she suggested. (And probably closer to 1/2 cup blueberries.) A definite WIN - will be making these again, for sure! ;)
If you have a pizza stone in your oven, pita are SO easy to make from scratch and you can make them whole grain and fat free. I'd love to see Jane and Ann make those sometime!
How interesting!! They're so expensive in Argentina. Once a lovely cook said: don't go to that expense, just simmer small peas in vinegar for some time and nobody will notice. =)
Nice doctor book says not to worry about oxalates, however if you are someone like me, who is very sensitive to excellence, you then do not observe the nutrition. And once I removed the oxalate, heavy greens and put in low or no oxalate greens, my digestion, and my recovery was dramatic. I’m just saying it’s an option for those who have trouble with it.
So sorry, my first reply did not come out correctly. It was supposed to say I realize that Dr. Brooke says not to worry about oxalates. However, if you’re someone like me, who is very sensitive to them, you do not absorb the nutrition in those greens. Thereby you do not gain the benefit. However, when I changed to low or no excellent greens, I had no problem with digestion and my body’s response was remarkable as she talks about. I’m just saying for those of us who have an issue. Basil seeds are an option.
Always appreciate your videos! I had made your scones when I purchased your cookbook and attended plantstock and they are so delicious! As you mention, almond flour is super caloric. Is there a substitute flour that would work in this scone recipe?
Wow , the oatmeal cookies/bars were amazing. I stopped the video and went to the kitchen. I’m going to work on a savory recipe for these and see what I can come up with.
Keep your pita dry; keep your gunpowder dry. Good axioms. Capers are a pickled Mediterranean bud. You can grow nasturtiums and pickle those large buds they put out.
So many fillings for pita: you can cook up v breakfast sausages and break them up with beans or grain, green; grab a handful of garden veg when you are in garden and stuff away; salad adorned with v cheese or beets or Chinese style tofu; on and on.
Curious, did you hear that from a woman named Barbara O’Neill? That’s the only person I’ve ever heard say that peanuts and peanut butter are notorious for mold.
I don't think I've ever watched a video and immediately made something, but those cookies area amazing! I'll have to get some dried cherries to add next! These will be my next scuba diving snack! Better get more bananas! Would this work if the bananas were frozen first or would they be too soggy?
Scones look wonderful for the kiddos! Thoughts on substitutions for the almond flour? My guys aren’t allowed to have any nuts at school, but they are busy boys and need the “calorie bomb”!
MONTMORENCY DRIED CHERRIES are available from Bay Fruit Company (Traverse City, MI?) without the oil or sugar which dehydrate more than the oil and sugar coated cherries. I get them from Meijer (grocery/deptartment store).
I'm writing from Argentina. Here we don't have the variety of healhy packaged food that you can get in the States. Most of the things I use when cooking are natural, don't come in a box, or bag or jar or tube or any other container. But I guess there's no problem with those packaged things if you trust the labelling.
I just made these with the banana, rolled oats, unsweetened almond butter, same choc. chips, crushed walnuts, chia seeds, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice. Next time will add raisins or blueberries. Next time I will try at 13 minutes, think my oven is slightly hotter?
In my understanding, the plant world carries everything you need with one or two exceptions. Vitamin B12 is a concern if you are a very strict vegan. It suggested that you either use nutritional yeast flakes and or supplement with a B12 supplement daily.
I really enjoy watching your cooking demonstrations. I do have a question though. As a person who has newly discovered she is borderline, diabetic or fully diabetic, I would really like to know what your blood sugar does after eating some of these foods. I often see you using processed grain products, like the pita bread, whole wheat, tortillas, bread, products, yes, these might be Whole Foods, but they have been ground up, which in my understanding is not good for diabetics. Even eating whole grains can still cause blood sugar to rise too high so it might not be Dramatically spike, diabetics still have to watch their carbohydrate intake. At least in my experience, I have been eating perfect food for the last three months, lost about 40 pounds, I’m so thin, but my blood sugar still does not come back to normal after eating even legumes and the smallest amount of fruit or grain.I know everybody is different, but it doesn’t make sense to me to see you using these kind of foods. The only thing I would assume is that none of you have the gene for diabetes. I’d be interested to know if anybody out there who has been diagnosed with diabetes, what has been your experience by going on this diet. Do you have to limit your grain, or high carb food intake?. I’m quite frustrated that after losing so much weight and being at the very bottom of the range for my height, why am I not seeing my blood sugar come back to normal. It’s not super high, but one meal I tried to add 1/2 slice of Ezekiel 49 bread, and two hours later, even after nearly an hour of walking, my blood was still in the mid 140s. At the two hour mark, normal person should be back under 100. Anybody offer some suggestions or thoughts on this matter with which you have experience? I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
It all looks great, but what this has to do with quick meals on the run, I don’t know. It would take hours to make that quinoa dish, not including cooking the quinoa, including all that vegetable prep, and then clean up. I work full-time and have five dogs. I think I’ll just nukes a potato and call it a day..

Too much carb for us diabetic people but I am sure taste great 😢1 cup quinoa have 117 carbs and 650 calories ( energy ) and 22 protein! I am just saying 🤷🏼♀️
Thank you for commenting. I am newly discovered that I am either borderline diabetic or fully diabetic. Have you tried any of their recipes, and what has been your experience? Thanks.

Very! Crile also added cranberries and mentioned using raisins occasionally.

That stuffed pita is mouth-watering. 🧡
Hi, lovely recipes. Is there a way you could add the recipes in the description box? Thanks

Can’t wait to try the breakfast cookies. Have some bananas and wasn’t sure what to do with them!! Thank you fellow Clevelanders!!
Frozen bananas are awesome. Taste like ice cream.
Omgosh! I'm born and raised in Cleveland Ohio too. In India now.
I made Crile's breakfast cookie and absolutely loved it. It will replace the one I had been making. The blueberries were a great addition. Never thought to add fresh fruit before!

Capers are pickled juniper berries. Love these recipes.

Sounds easy and looks great! It surely smells great too. Congratulations!!!
I have a couple of upcoming long haul air flights. All of these look great and so much better than airport food. Thanks!
Thank you so much for your wonderful cooking lesson was very helpful love Jen 😊
Love the Videos!!!!
Mmm 😋 i love everything you made 😋

Gluten free?
Capers are the pickled unopened flower buds of a Capparis spinosa. From Mediterranean region originally
How interesting!! They're so expensive in Argentina. Once a lovely cook said: don't go to that expense, just simmer small peas in vinegar for some time and nobody will notice. =)
Amla is speeding the digestion up. So be careful. Nice recipes.🌻🌻🌻
I love chocolate so I usually add organic cacao powder and it is yummy!
Just a thought, Chia seeds are high in oxalates, and for those of us that have trouble with oxalates a good replacement is basil seeds.
Dr. Brooke Goldner says to NOT worry about the oxalates.

Well done !!!
I finally have real maple syrup, so excited.
I make the scones with chopped walnuts and raisins. They are so good! The chocolate chips trigger my sugar addiction.
I take the amaretto scones for breakfast when backpacking.

I am not fully plant based but I make a lot of your food and the quinoa salad is delish ( my dinner today). Thanks❤
Keep your pita dry; keep your gunpowder dry. Good axioms.

Love this! Is there a website we can sign up so we will get notifications y’all are making a video or coming live?
I submitted with my almond butter. Peanut butter is a mold food. Fun recipe for sure ..love adding nuts and cranberries.
Curious, did you hear that from a woman named Barbara O’Neill? That’s the only person I’ve ever heard say that peanuts and peanut butter are notorious for mold.
They sell some really nice scoops now. All the same size and easy to push out.
Ground flax seed, yes?
I don't think I've ever watched a video and immediately made something, but those cookies area amazing! I'll have to get some dried cherries to add next! These will be my next scuba diving snack! Better get more bananas! Would this work if the bananas were frozen first or would they be too soggy?
ever consider making this book - engine 2 cookbook - as a SPIRAL BOUND version? 😁
Capers are the buds of a flower when they are put up very salty, also the Craisins are loaded with sugar. Just FYI.
Ground flax?
I believe a caper is a nasturtium seed!
Caper is an unopen flower bud from a capparis mediterranean shrub plant.
Scones look wonderful for the kiddos! Thoughts on substitutions for the almond flour? My guys aren’t allowed to have any nuts at school, but they are busy boys and need the “calorie bomb”!
What brand Pita is that without the oil? Can’t find any.
Trader Joe’s has whole wheat pitas without oil!
I 'd like to have an answer to a question : the omega3 in chia seeds and line are they destroyed or altered when cooked ?
MONTMORENCY DRIED CHERRIES are available from Bay Fruit Company (Traverse City, MI?) without the oil or sugar which dehydrate more than the oil and sugar coated cherries. I get them from Meijer (grocery/deptartment store).
Would like to try the pita quinoa salad recipe. Can you please share the recipe with us? Thanks
I do not have such a kitchen machine. 😩 But will a small Püree mixer do this job?
My favorite sandwiches were peanut butter and bananas!
I'm writing from Argentina. Here we don't have the variety of healhy packaged food that you can get in the States. Most of the things I use when cooking are natural, don't come in a box, or bag or jar or tube or any other container. Could one use almond butter?
I just made these with the banana, rolled oats, unsweetened almond butter, same choc. chips, crushed walnuts, chia seeds, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice. Next time will add raisins or blueberries. Next time I will try at 13 minutes, think my oven is slightly hotter?
I'm going to start the plant based food...I would like to know if one needs any vitamis, minerals , or plant food would give me what I need? Thank you
In my understanding, the plant world carries everything you need with one or two exceptions. Vitamin B12 is a concern if you are a very strict vegan. It suggested that you either use nutritional yeast flakes and or supplement with a B12 supplement daily.
I was vegan for four years. I became anemic and stopped but never happy. I am now WFPB full steam ahead.
I really enjoy watching your cooking demonstrations. I do have a question though. As a person who has newly discovered she is borderline, diabetic or fully diabetic, I would really like to know what your blood sugar does after eating some of these foods.

Can you use all oat flour?
I know I’m weird but I HATE really ripe bananas. Wondering what a good substitute would be , if anything.
Pumpkin or apple sauce
Looked up Caper Bush
I would make the dressing in a high speed blender instead of a food processor
I’m not active but I would like to be.
I thought Dr Esselstyn advises against nuts.
He does if someone has heart disease.
I think capers are a flower
Her name is Kryle? Like Kyle with an r thrown in there?
🍓🍓🍓
That would be a Bench Scraper, not bread knife (with serrated edge)
I was just wondering why you have your videos listed for kids. It doesn’t allow you to go to the bell to get notifications when you subscribe. It seems to me if it was on the regular RUclips you would have way more followers.
Diabetics please comment: what is the effect on your blood sugar after eating foods like this? I’d really like to know.

I can't get over how they never wash their produce. That's half the job of making vegan food!
OMG! Too hard for me to follow, wish they were more organized. Will just try the recipes on my own. Thanks anyway.
These recipes may be good but I find their recipes too complicated with too many ingredients.
