    this is basically millionaires mad their beach front property is near rentals same reason Malibu was trying to hide their beach access from the public despite them being public beaches

    Short term rentals are awful and trashy but hogging and blocking access to the public space aka beach is also terrible

    Booo if you have a thousand short term rentals that’s taking a thousand residences out of the housing market. No wonder rents and housing prices are ridiculous.

      That is the real issue. But these rich people don't care about that. And people blame the homeless instead of these people.

    Oceanside was a poor man’s beach town loved it growing up in Vista in the 90s but now it’s turning into snooty Carlsbad/ Del Mar type

      Not everyone loves crime, drugs, shared bodily waste, and outdoorsmen yelling at the streetlights at 3am.

    What ever happened to Zoning?

    • @jp1082
      @jp1082 7 месяцев назад

      Just an f y I, Newsome, removed zoning.There is no such thing anymore. He has imposed a density quota in every single neighborhood in california. As he said , you can take out one house and put up a mini hotel and be congratulated for it by the governor. It's a total destruction of neighborhoods as we know it. The Democrat Government of California is truly desimating its beauty.

    It's tearing down the beautiful older homes that is ruining Oceanside. These unique houses have soul, memories, and history. Most were built in a way that didn't obstruct the views for other homes. You start tearing down history and pretty soon it's people who don't care about Oceanside staying there and every place is just like a hotel, nothing special, could be anywhere . We need to stop selling the coast to room brokers. I grew up here, I don't own land. When I return to visit, yes, I do rent homes, but ones that are old and owned by people, not corporate entities. I am respectful of my neighbors. Sometimes it is only 3-4 days, but mostly longer. I hope to return someday and might have been able to afford beach front, but the vacation business has upped the taxes and the value to the point people who inherited beach houses from their parents can't afford to keep them. It's very sad and there needs to be a way to restrict this if you don't want to lose what makes it unique

      Business bro Beach fronts is for Business Especially when people in droves want to come out This is why I rather live in Temecula Murrieta, Del Mar or La Jolla for Exclusion or more privacy the beach has always been a public favorite why I stay away from living right on the beach..

    Why are these rich people acting like they don't know how our political system operates, the "gifts" to the city council are going to have outweigh what they can pilfer from the tax revenue generated by the rentals

    Short term renters are much better quality of people than long term renters. I perfer vacationers in my neighborhood. They don't leave the outside of the house trashy.

    It is not entitlement. Those are private homes that should not have to deal with small hotels next door.

    San Diego government has been selling out for years. They love the revenue. I live out of state in a very old rental area. My rental agency has a strict no party policy.

    Thinnk about this your Areas are desired by just about everyone in the world. When you have lots of money you can make moves to more private areas and you can just rent out those units. I get it you feel like everyone else is also enjoying that portion of life. I rather live in La Jolla or Del Mar and maybe rent out one of those beach fronts for all to enjoy..Come on Karen stop bieng a karen..You can move out Karen if that suits you better. Move to AZ where taxes are low!!!

    Meanwhile the people that live here can't afford to rent one. This is clearly a greed vs. greed. Tourism is only financially beneficial to the people with money but look at all the shit us lower class have to deal with. Traffic, roads, affordable rent, jobs, access to beach. Only thing to do is drink beer and then grab a coffee to mellow you out.
