Jase, you should actually get Johnny Hopper on the podcast. He’s very interesting/insightful and has said what everyone’s afraid to say about the sport for years now. It would be a great watch/listen.
Johnny Hopper is a good dude and his ideas could truly help the sport and make it safer. It's unfortunate the industry insiders seem more concerned with trying to sensor him than listen to him.
Riders have needed a Union for 30 years . Until that happens Feld and AMA /FIM. Manufacturers will continue to “Do what the Do ‘ make and steal money from the racers Blood sweat and tears . RIDERS UNION YES ! Every stick and ball sport have Players unions and those sports aren’t in the Danger zone like SX/MX It an absolute crime the way they treat the Pro riders !

I had a major motorcycle accident 3 years ago near death experience, broke multiple bones and had multiple injuries lost the use of my right hand due to the accident and haven't been able to ride since and also been in some very dark places at times, dirtbike riding was my passion! and therapy!
Shocked to hear AP talk about the injury clause actually passed me off......these teams need to take care of their riders especially if they have a serious injury that keeps them from riding......not like they can get unemployment....f**cking BS.
Injuries are something all independent contractors deal with every workday. Especially in the construction trades. You get hurt, you can't pay the bills. At least most of us have job skills that we can use over the course of many decades. These guy's have a decade, at the most, to make the most of their incredible skillsets. It's a shit situation all around.
We dont deserve AP man, such a cool dude. Wish nothing but the best for this man. I remember racing at his dads track called paradise back in the day and he was out there flagging, watering, and anything else he could do to help. Talking to him you would have no idea your dealing with such a talented dude just because of how humble and down to earth he was
@@m35boostystag29 sponsors dont make you take that risk. It's your choice to do it for a living. If you dont want a contract with injury clauses, theyll find someone who does
@@Jake_Hamlin they're literally the only sport that does it, its deplorable, hey come compete im this extreme sport for us, but better not get hurt then you're on your own?
Sucks to hear about that kind of a clause. Just broke my leg on Saturday riding. Definitely been a struggle these past couple days dealing with the thoughts of recovery and being out of the things I love to do. The emotions are real with injury for sure. Hearing dudes like Arron talk about this stuff helps put it in perspective and keep hopes high.
He says it perfectly, "they"ll do what they'll do" smh so many fucked rules and regulations against our very own riders no wonder this sport is dying rapidly
In 2011 I crushed my heel and missed the first ski seasons of my life....skied/raced from age 4 until I was 31. Had partial seasons due to injuries but never missed a full season. It was 2 years before I could put a ski boot on without my foot going numb....bad times.
Yeah the injury clause has to be a slap in the face of these athletes. If anything they should get paid a salary while they are injured riding your bike for your team. Bullshit
I feel the same about the injury clauses, and the riders are almost forced into it because if they don’t sign the contract, the next guy waiting in line will. It’s a shitty situation all around, but cutting the riders pay to the point that they don’t know if they can make their monthly payments isn’t right. I could understand the sponsor docking a small percentage of their pay during the injury time because they’re not on the bike, but give them another way to make the money by promoting the product another way off the bike. There are many other ways that the riders could market their sponsors products during an injury period (autograph signings, live promos, etc.) Just my thoughts on it
Factory riders make a lot of money and they need to invest in good insurance no matter the cost. I remember that Johnny O used to pay a lot of money to Lloyds Insurance when he raced. For such high caliber riders, it’s an investment they need to make.
In you don’t agree with something, don’t sign(=agree) it. If there’s no opportunity that goes along with your values, then don’t keep supporting the system at all. As soon as Aaron signed that paper he made it even harder for everybody else to get rid of the stupid effing clause. A clause that puts the riders in a financial dangerous position and thus prevents riders from lining up without worrying about their livelihood.
Just how life is you can tell when he talked about getting a job like he's not against that it's just just how moto has evolved as a demographic culture how many people can go at the level he is at maybe 20 or 30 people on the entire planet the deal is corporate knows almost exactly how many riders are willing to risk their lives to replace any of our current top pro riders at the end of the day the people running these companies don't give a shit because the motorcycle business is kind of like a side bet except for KTM
Aye Jase, my only argument is that we all choose to ride. It isnt military jump school. Bs all the same, but a lineman who gets zapped wasn't drafted man, its a choice. Otherwise, I agree.
These guys make hundreds of thousands and millions of dollars to do what they love. They are risk takers and that’s why they are champions. They take major risks on the bike and in their lives.
Injury clause = Major BS , these guys are the front line sales dept , spokesperson ,tester and asked to perform at the elite level all year long! Alot of these guys have family counting on them , c'mon ,pay these guys what they are worth , for the awesome job they do!
I feel for injured riders but injury clauses are essential. I wouldn’t want to be a main sponsor spending big money to back a rider who’s hurt. Meanwhile his bike is just sitting in the semi while he’s getting zero results or exposure. That’s just not a fiscally responsible move!
Passion the masculinity ego trip! Lol who's beating who? Top dog the risk vs reward! Was hard telling myself brutal truth that racing wasn't paying the bills.
Yep that injury clause just isn't right ( f ' d up doesnt even cover it) Damn agents should start doing something about this. After hearing this I'm ready to never buy another bike/ ATV/ or s,-b-s. Fuck all the manufactuters.
That’s a joke on the injury clause. Like it would have to be in the back of the mind of these guys especially AP at the time the bike sucked... so why push that last 5% to where your really hanging it out and trying to go for top 5s let’s say.. so then you crash and don’t get paid.. but if you go 9 10 in 2 motos leave healthy then you do get paid.. kinda seems stupid of the sponsors to do that.. obviously these guys have a lot of pride and want to win but that concept is ass backward
Get hurt slippin off toilet seat and your assed out of a regular job. Unions are not always running on all cylinders, they have their own major issues. It’s sad how the mx industry hasn’t sorted out a mass insurance for all the top team riders to allow them to receive the whole salary when injured !
U should b okay. I was slaming some nearly woops and looped out and hit my heal on the top of the woop and cracked my heal.
Ryan stay in school because right now you’re dumb!
Injury clauses are common in many sports. In Rugby it's the same, players get injured in training pre season and make nothing..
AP is the best🤘🏻🤘🏻

I heard somewhere they should do it like the ufc and then all the privateers get the benefit also
If you don't agree with the injury clause then why did you sign it? Because that's what they offered and you took the deal. Life.
