Hehehehe, I've had this vid queued up for days because I wanted to see you paint some glorious crystals. I finally get a chance to sit back with a root beer to indulge and you surprise me with a shoutout! This whole diorama is absolutely lovely, keep on bein you! :-)
Thanks! I hope I don't stop being me, that would be rather confusing. Your SioCast video was very helpful and informative so thank you for that :)
@@52Miniatures I wholeheartedly agree with Brent. I. Really. Love. That. Diorama. This "being courageous when painting" really clicked with me. I've been watching your channel from the start and it is so amazing to see how far you have come and how much joy you seem to be having trying these actually really scary things like wet blending with oil paints just winging it according to how you feel. Thanks to you I have been trying oil paints and I'm going to try this "paint fearlessly" in my next project! All the best to your and keep being you! :)
@@tripod222 Lovely to hear T, It makes my day :)
This is a thing of beauty. Very inspiring, Alex.
Thank you humbly!
This whole project was fantastic. Well done Alex!
Thanks Knarb!
This video was so amazing, and so is the diorama!!! Incredible work all round, and thanks for the mention!
Thank you Dana! I so like the concept and visuals of this game.
Its a beautiful diorama congratulations 👏
Thank you dearly Bill
This was the best example of show not tell I've ever seen - loved it. Great work 52!
Thanks CC! I kind of couldn’t start getting in to details.. or you’d still be watching.
Gorgeous diorama and dialog!
Thank you Jeremy!
God Dammit, now I have to back the Kickstarter xD
Thank you so much for the inspiration and this video =D
Your accident at 08:30 made me wince; I just lost 1/3 of a bottle under similar circumstances. Love the diorama. Rivenstone has some of the best Dwarf sculpts I've seen in years.
The scale75 Paints just keep doing that. My new trick is to not make a hole in the top and actually pull the whole "dropper" out and filling my palette that way.
I am so impressed with BAM, they apparently gave creators some models and background and let them go so we get interesting, contemplative pieces like this. I am, of course, looking forward to the battle reports and theorycrafting this game will lead to but when the creative side of the hobby can take center stage, it is a pleasure for all involved. Thank you for the video.
I agree. Very much free hands, a great thing indeed.
Man, there goes our miniature RUclips philosopher again. Can't put to proper words to how much I enjoy your videos and the simple fact people like you are out there.
Thank you Marco, I humbly appreciate it.
Your retelling of the Rivenstone lore intrigued me to know more about the fantasy world--sounds like a fun premise!
Painting crystals is HARD and you absolutely nailed it.
Thanks! There was quite a lot of "step back - not pleased - at it again - repeat"
A 52 Miniatures video? Good music? Check. Dry humour? Check. Elegantly filmed? Check. Wonderful paint job? Check. It checks out!
Wow, that glowing belt buckle at the end is something else.
Check!! 😂 Thanks Euan
Gotta love that frog...
Oh yeas!

Stunning!! Such clever use of space and colour.
Creating fearlessly sounds like the way to go.
The color is really stunning~:D
Those spiderwebs looked pretty wicked.
Right!? I'm glad you noticed :)
Extremely good work! I don't know if your "modeling and painting" skill is the greatest, or is it a storytelling skill. Love to watch your videos (this time to feel better after having my tooth removed 12 hours ago). Thank you.
Thank you very much Marcin!
Beautiful! Beautiful commentary. Beautiful Production. Beautiful outcome. What can I say, beautiful!
Thank you Charles
Fantastic. I enjoy watching these dioramas being built on this and many other channels but until now I've never been interested in building one myself. I love the size of this diorama. I love the idea of taking a small cube and packing in as much environmental story-telling into that small space (instead of having a larger base where individual elements can get lost or feel unconnected sometimes). It's the first time I can see having these visual narratives on my own shelf space for display as I've always just painted for gaming.
Great job.
This is the best feedback Wayne, I'm very glad to hear it. I find it takes a few dioramas to get somewhere... and that they can be rather simple yet still effective.. and then sometimes, like this one, just a lot of everything and it still kind of works :)
I 100% BLEW THE CAP OFF MY NEW BOTTLE OF SCALE COLOUR OVER MY WET PALLET!!!!! I feel your pain.
I was opening Magic The Gathering booster packs when I put this video on. It made me put down the packs and watch attentively. That's high praise coming from an MTG addict. Great video! Loved the background and lore descriptions. Thanks!
Now that's some high praise! :)
Fantastic use of colour! Great result.
This is spectacular. I want to say spectacular as always, but I think this might just be the best paint job you've shown us so far. Thank you.
Well thank you PN!
BEAUTIFUL diorama! That use of colors is fantastic. The glow is so vivid. This is going to be a bad surprise for that drilling dwarf. And by the way, I always liked Triceratops eggs the most, down in my cave playing Warcraft 1.
Mmmm Tricerotops... :)
Wow! You have outdone yourself yet again. Truly a masterpiece....
Thank you!
Dazzling.
Wow, you did some real magic with the colors ! I'm a fan, bravo !
Thank you David!
Lenny turned out amazing! I'm glad we can see him more clearly in this stellar diorama.
Maybe your best work to date!?! Love the magenta glow and the overall composition. Well done Alex!
Thank you! It did get a lot of effort put in. Relaxed fun effort :)
An absolutely outstanding and beautiful piece of art.
Thank you!
Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing its creation!
Thank you BP
This was mesmerizing! I've been saying all along that I'd watch paint dry with your narration slapped over it and here you come up with this super colourful, eyecatching, conceptually phenomenal diorama! It was a feast for the eyes and one of your best pieces to date! I loved that stop motion animation you did but there are so many little nuggets of amazingness sprinkled throughout! Like that shiny little fish or beautifully shaded leaves. Fantastic job Alex, you've created a masterpiece!
Well said!
Well thank you, I just let this one become what I had in mind. That sounds strange. But I had an idea and I kept working until the idea is what I saw in front of me :)
@@52Miniatures I'm glad you did because it came out brilliantly!
I has been a long time watching you videos. I forgot how peaceful they are. Also amazing work and inspiration as always!
Thank you Melike
Wow, as the video goes on this just looks more and more amazing
No joke, but I think this might be the best thing I’ve seen you do! Not to say you’re other stuff isn’t amazing, but this feels like you’ve just levelled up. The use of colour and execution in this is awesome! Amazing work dude!!! 👌🏻
Thank you M! I did try to just let go and have fun, also I let this one take time :)
I was at Adepticon where they were doing demos. I really should have done that. The booth did catch my eye, I just didn't make the time for it. Your diorama looks great. I also like the art style for the same reasons.
They seem to be putting a bit of effort in organising play testing. Hopefully you get another chance.
Love the OSL. Truely an awesome job. Very well done! I also like your background story!
Thank Hendrik!
i really enjoy how you narrate your videos. Another great vid, thank you from the bottom of my noob to painting miniatures heart 😊
Your painting style is so enjoyable!
Thank you so much 😀
Wow. Really....just, wow.
Thanks Sean!
Very vibrant and inspirational, thank you as always!
Thakn you!
Ohh, nice. I don't see photo etch used enough in the hobby.
Love the stuff!
your narration was amazing to listen to and what you have created is just beyond mesmerizing you did a phenomenal job thank you so much for the fantastic journey!
Thank you Jake!
Very great job, inspiring in its complexity, and one of your best because Dwarves rule!!
These are so cool dwarves. I mean.. yeah :) and thank you Thorik
Awesome build and video Alex! I too have wanted to try talking about the story instead of how everything is done, and I think you did a great job of it here!
Thank you. I just could not see myself talking about every step on the way… there’s just so many! So I decided to not talk about any of them. I hope the format works.
Love your style Alex, it's unique among youtube in a very cool way
Thanks Jonathan!
Yeah, I'm in on Rivenstone. The mechanics look awesome and the minis seem so fun to paint! And your diorama is freaking fantastic. The orc skin is in that uncanny valley area where it feels so wrong, but so right in this context. Nice work!!
Thank you Chris, and I'm glad to hear you'll be trying out the game. I'm kind of exited over the immense terrain building possibilities. Like, purple forest with pink mountain? sure - why not.
@@52Miniatures agreed! It's going to get wacky, and I am here for it 🎉
That sir is a work of art! I love the use of colours and detail pieces. There is a place for the eye to rest and parts where the closer and longer you look the more details that tell a story pop out. I watched Dana Howls video before I saw this one and the Rivencast game looks very interesting. She also did a great job painting some of them as well! This is one of the best dioramas I have seen in years! Thank you so much for sharing with us.
Well thank you Andy, what a lovely comment to read.
Beautiful piece. Your colour choices are fantastic. 🤟
Thanks Jimi
Your OSL is amazing - are you sure there's not a LED in that belt buckle!?
Alex, I really enjoyed that you composed and related a great story about what inspired this wonderful diorama. The construct of the crevice/cave is nifty* *Nifty def: somewhat dated term that was later supplanted by "really cool" and afterwards by god knows what. Okay, this was riveting and I gotta believe that the folks at Broken Anvil are delighted. Well done!
Thank you Mark, nifty is a good word, I think I probably prefer it to "cool" :)
Nicely done, very good video and love the diorama
Awesome work overall. Great techniques in every single detail
Thanks a bunch!
What an amazing piece. Thank you for sharing.
Many thanks!
Just backed the full set, I am so excited for this game.
Cool! I hope you'll enjoy it.
Looks dope, really enjoy that little stream.
This is just great Alex, there’s tons of life here 👍
Thanks Max!
Beautiful work! Here's to hoping you do a video on the aforementioned skin tones, they look amazing!
This is gorgeous!!!! Spectacular work!
Thank you!
Absolutely amazing diorama and video, bravo!!!
Awesome work and, as always, such an engaging video! Your channel has quickly become one of my favorites and I have been preaching the gospel of 52 Miniatures to anyone who will stand still long enough for me to do so ;-)
Great to hear, thank you GG!
Outstanding. Love the riot of colour and character, really well done 👌
Rock and effing Roll 🤟! Very cool!
the paint bottle top bursting off made me really sad for some reason lol. i love all the detail you put in this project i for some reason the log caught my eye even with all the bright colors
Thank you!
Really, quite fantastic.
Lovely work! it was fun to watch you put it together.
Thanks Dave!
One of my favorite videos to date!
Wow, thanks!
Always an exciting time when I see that you've released a new video.
Wish I could offer more support other than simply watching, liking and sharing, but alas, I am poor 😂
You are also commenting! And that makes a big difference. So thanks Robert 🙏
This is a fantastic diorama. I love it.
Lovely!
Rivenstone seems not quite my thing, but I am patient(ish)ly waiting for some mice from BAM's previous KS campaign, not for militaristic reasons but purely because-mice! So with luck I'll shortly be able to judge this Siocast process/material for myself.
Mice is always mice :) Thanks Stephen
Absolutely love this!
I remember those days before internet. The things we did to survive... dark times indeed
It's a wonder we made it through alive
Amazing work and very inspiring! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much!
awesome work - thank you for sharing your passion.
Great Paint job! I’ve been trying to master this style of watercolor cartoony with OSL myself this is very impressive! I may have to just try something like this and paint brave!
Extremely awesome Diorama! I hope you enter this in a contest one day if you ever have the chance!
Thank you, I appreciate it. I had a lot of fun “painting brave”, and can warmly recommend it :)
Inspiring and GORGEOUS
Thank you Magnus
A wonderful video. I appreciate your narrative which is so inspirational. Quite unique. And of course a great job on building and painting (as always I have to admit - you are setting the bar quite high).
Aye... I'll fall down one day 😂
That is a super cool diorama! I love it!
Thanks Walter!
Amazing diorama, so much detail in such a small piece, and the lighting effect from the rivenstone is 👌
Thanks Michael. I struggled with the rivenstone glow and kept going back to it whilst working on everything else. I still think it could feel a little "brighter", but its such a fine balance between colour and "brightness" ie. white paint.
FANTASTIC results...great style, execution, and presentation.
And yes(!), Brett and Dana have very worthy input on the matter (or magic).
Cheers!
Thank you Ard!
Amazing! ❤ The OSL turned out so well!
You were correct when you said that all the different colors made things look more realistic. It really set a tone for the setting and made the whole piece more believable. Well done!
Thank you Braden !
Amazing, and something to aspire to amongst various demanding requirements. Appreciate the community shoutouts and subtle transitions in your videography.
Thank you Dan
Truly amazing work Alex! I was looking forward to seeing how you made this one as it's truly impressive ^^
You really brought the setting of Rivenstone to life in a small piece of art :D
Thank you Aleria! As always :)
Absolutely incredible!
Thank you Manuel!
This vid hit the spot -- fantastic work!
Much appreciated!
Another great job!!!! Your work is amazing.
Thank you Chris!
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Thank you Mark!
you continue to amaze me, new patreon member incoming!
Lovely stuff! :)
Such a great project, and for some reason I feel pride seeing dear Lenny in such a lovely setting! Well done
It’s like he’s always been there :) Thanks M!
I always love your use of color!
Thank you! Cheers!
beautiful diorama sir.
Thank you kindly
Amazing work! Beautiful scene and wonderful details.
Beautiful diorama 😍
Thank you very much!
Absolutely beautiful piece and amazing use of color. I think this will be one I come back to a lot when I need some inspiration to "paint bravely"
Lovely! Thanks Matt
Wonderful job, I love the color variation, and your storytelling is very entertaining for me! Thank you.
Thank you Shane!
these are the coolest dragon wings on a miniature i have *ever* seen.
your painting here reminded me of some seriously amazing novels by Robin Hobb. I'm not sure if you have heard of them Alex but I have a feeling you would enjoy them. There are 16 books.
Anyhow.. in some of the books there are dragons and they are of extreme majesty, hypnotizing and mesmerising humans purely with the beauty and grandeur of their scales and wings. your dragons really reminded me of that, as soon as you filled in the wings with gold.
beautiful inspiring work
Thank you T! I have indeed read the (very long) Hobb series. I enjoyed the first few books but I had difficulties when everything turned Caribbean pirate or whatnot :) the dragon concept was very cool though.
@@52Miniatures ah thats a shame, the story eventually weaves back into itself. ah well, either way incredible painting man. truly inspiring. makes me want to grab a brush and thats the best thing
@@tatooine_dream Yes I did read all of them. I think I just enjoyed the initial setting to much.
@@52Miniatures oh sorry I misunderstood my bad.
Amazing diorama well done mate
Thanks Zach!
