In fact it's not racist at all. It's more of an unintelligent question because Kyle/Lyle is Chinese, and China is a major part of Asia making him/them Asian. So answering yes is just a shorter way of explaining what I just did.
Hey, I was kind of not taking it seriously, as I've heard Korean and Chinese people making jokes about that kind of question (AKA not taking it seriously). What is often asked: "What type of Asian are you?", if is not racist, is borderline.... Of course, there's that new concept of being ok if you make jokes about your situation, but if someone else does it, then it's abusive.... My country, Spain, has had so many migrations, invasions, and mixing that is complicated to say there's "one race". I'm kindda "white", but who knows what's in the mix, lol... Yep, the question, if anything is soo ignorant that is quite funny. :D Is like If I'm asked if I am European or from Spain... Mainly, I find that making jokes (if gentle) about this kind of misconceptions is... healthy. Anyway, we all come from Lucy (so to speak), the rest was adaptation to a particular environment and weather, per area, that's all about it.
