Pls. continue reviewing the first Kiss album... it's a classic. However, the live versions of the songs on this record were better on their 1975 live album 'Alive!' and that became their first platinum selling record... The live versions of tracks like 'Strutter'... 'Deuce' ... '100,000 years'... 'Black diamond' ... 'Cold gin'... 'Firehouse'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘are much better than the studio versions... Part of the problem with the first 3 Kiss albums ('Kiss'... 'Hotter than hell' ... 'Dressed to kill') was that the band had no idea how to capture their sound in rehearsals in the studio... They signed to a label called Casablanca Records which became a disco label in the 70's - their label head Neil Bogart was more familiar w/ pop bands and artists that kids enjoyed ... He hooked up Kiss w/ a pop production team for the first 2 albums and neither sold well commercially... 'Strutter' was one of Paul Stanley's songs... The original makeup-era Kiss - Paul, Gene Simmons (bass) and Peter Criss (drums) did most of the vocals, while Ace Frehley (lead guitar) was not confident about singing (Frehley did lead vocals for Kiss by 1977 and he was pretty good at it... by 1979, Ace Frehley sang lead on a number of Kiss songs and had a successful solo album as well) When Neil Bogart first signed Kiss, he loved their demo and didn't like their makeup and costumes... He suggested getting rid of the makeup in 1974 and Kiss refused... Even when they shot the first Kiss album cover, he asked the band if they would change their mind and do the cover without makeup... By 1977, the 4 Kiss makeup personas were so large and famous that they became a merchandising gold mine. Kiss was going broke by 1975 and Neil Bogart himself produced their 3rd album 'Dressed to kill'... and the song 'Rock and roll all nite' got a buzz but the album sounded very pop-rock and didn't sell either...Kiss and their label faced bankruptcy that year and decided to record a double live Kiss album because they couldn't afford to make another studio album... Kiss was playing arenas in Detroit even without a hit record and recorded some shows there... Producer/ engineer Eddie Kramer was not impressed w/ the tapes and had the band members record overdubs on the tracks to deliver a better sound on the record... The double live Kiss album 'Alive!' was released in '75 and shocked everyone by selling in huge numbers, the live version of 'Rock and roll all nite' became a top 40 hit single...It saved Kiss and Casablanca records from financial ruin... Every Kiss show was sold out by early 1976 as they toured the US and even the first 3 Kiss albums sold gold (half million copies each) as a result.

I love early Kiss, but my childhood memory from when I was 8 years old is "Heaven's On Fire" from 1984's "Animalize" album. Nowadays, that's a real good song to get into a rockin' party mood :)

The Version on KISS Alive! Is the best version. KISS really needs to be listened to Live to be perfectly honest but please go down the rabbit hole, you will enjoy the journey ❤
@@flyingburritobro68 yes while that’s true of that live album and most live albums, the album is called Kiss Alive and it is worth doing an album review in my opinion.
The song Black Diamond 💎 the fist album was the right album at the right time for me. This version of Strutter isn’t the original meh. Google for the artwork and playlist of the Original album.
Bizmatic: as a woman who was a fan Kiss back then, it’s just embarrassing for you to apologize for the song’s subject matter. Those lyrics are as fitting today as they were then. Nothing wrong with them.
Oh no, another classic ruined by remastering!! What are they doing??? How about some live action from The Midnight Special? You can see the boys still young and in their prime. 1975 and the song is called, SHE. ruclips.net/video/rRXx5hfk58M/видео.htmlsi=19ODI_mdCqTe01J5 Enjoy!😎
Im not doing the lives until i hear the original versions first it works better for me to understand the songs so i can even see the difference in the two if that makes sense. but i will do the lives soon
Honestly, any song on KISS (first album) should only be reacted to first by listening to ALIVE 1 version. For Hotter Than Hell, title track, Watchin’ You and Parasite are worthy studio versions as a re its tunes not on Alive 1 like All The Way and Strange Ways too. But all of KISS first album quality couldn’t hold a candle to their live versions, esp Deuce and Strutter. Only exception might be Cold Gin. Even Black Diamond should be Alive 1 first. Doctor’s orders! 😊
I 100% agree. Listen to the studio version 1st. and Kiss songs are just good rock and roll. make up stage show smoke and mirrors, at the end of the day....Can ya dance to it? Did it get you up off your ass? Music is a Time Machine.
Saw KISS for the first time on my 18th Birthday in 1976 on the "Destroyer" tour, and it was like they were a presence in the arena, the fans were in awe. Then i saw them about three years later on the "Dynasty" tour, and the whole scene had changed, for the worse. Eight year old's with their parents, just too much of a change in the audience.
This is probably my favorite Kiss song but I agree with one of the commenters, it’s been remixed & kinda killed the heaviness of the original. You wouldn’t know this so not your fault.. this happens a lot with the remixes for most bands that are out.
Especially "Let Me Go, Rock N' Roll" if they would've recorded it in studio like they played it on "Alive!" then it would've been the greatest Rock And Roll song ever that is an incredible version where they let Ace show off his magic before he was burnt out on alcohol and drugs.
There are lots of Kiss eras. The original era, with face paint, with Ace and Peter. Then the disco era, when KISS were wise enough to see that disco ruled the world, so they changed their sound just enough to satisfy both the disco crowd and the KISS fans. Then Paul and Gene got rid of Peter Chris and eventually Ace too. Replaced Peter with Eric Carr, who wore racoon make up instead of a cat, and replaced Ace with Vinnie Vincent, who wore Egyptian themes make up. Then there was the 80's era, when they got rid of the makeup for the first time, and had a revolving door of guitar players. And finally ever since the 80's finished they've been mostly a nostalgia act, but they also put out new material from the 90's until 2012, and they did an amazing Unplugged acoustic show, bringing back Peter and Ace, which resulted in a reunion tour with the make up back on and the original four members back together in 1996/97. I am not including anything with the fake Peter and the fake Ace.
So when Kissa made their first greatest hits record, Paul Stanley redid this song. Can't recall why he did this but regardless, the result is an inferior version. The original from their first record is infinitely better.
Wow what a crappy remix of a great tune. Sorry whatever they did to the background vocals just made this sound like crap to me, and I know what the original version sounds like seeing I've owned the original first pressing of this album sense the day it was first released.
I couldn't agree more!! So many remastered versions reactors play are like this. So disappointing. Almost sounded like a cover band doing this. So sad!!
@@snakeinthegrass7443 I just came across a reactor doing Revelations(let my mother live) by Ozzy a couple of weeks ago and they messed with Randy's solo by recording it a couple of octave's lower plus they shortened it. Leave the originals alone, it's one thing to make it sound better it's a whole other thing when some dumbass producer thinks they can make an already classic song better. Sorry they don't they just F-k it up instead. It's kind of like Hollywood they take a perfect movie then ruin it by trying to remake it and then throw in a bunch of CGI, it just doesn't work.
@@tomlafleche332 Oh no! Not Randy in Revelation? That's one of his best pieces of work, imo. I'm getting goose bumps playing it in my head. Typical for this world we're living in. Everything is upside down and inside out. Awful.
@@watchbizmatik Oh nobody's giving you crap for this vid my friend we can't blame you for getting this horrible version. If this came from KISS's official RUclips channel then the blame goes to KISS for thinking doing this was a good thing. Sorry I think that official channel might be a fake because I can't see the guys in KISS thinking that this would fly with the KISS army without some major backlash. But unfortunately there's way too many fakes or bad remixes by amateur producers out there trying to pass their crap off as official. The Doobie Brothers, Ozzy, AC/DC, Deep Purple, Beach Boys this is just a small list of artists that have been messed with, it's kind of a slap in the face to those who both wrote the songs as well as those who grew up listening to them by wrecking a great song.
