Your marketing strategy is actually very good. This content is not just good copy, it provides a great value. Almost got me buying subscription (I'll maybe buy it next time).
Thank you for this video, Herman. It made me laugh a few times.😄 It's always fun to learn new things. I'm glad I've been following most of these tips. A tip I use a lot is copying and pasting effects from one clip to another, provided they look or sound similar. It saves a lot of time!✌
Hey Welcome to the Artlist team, this was an amazing tutorial, great speed and you showed everything that you spoke about, Thanks. Looking forward to the next video.
My favourite tip is the organization! So important - I guess that's why it's #1 ;) To this list I would add not writing a quick retrospective at the end of the project. It's what happened, what went well, what went wrong, and learnings for next time. You can even use it to explain something to a client, and encourage better feedback.
You're so right! Looking back on a project with fresh and objective eyes is crucial. It's probably the best way of improving and learning from one project to the next.
Thanx!! I am shooting a documentary on Cleveland Hip Hop History and have made all these mistakes!! (I wish i would have saw this 3 years ago!! lol note: organizing is important and workflow!! i also switched from adobe premeire to davinci resolve for waaaaaay better results, workflow and price!!!
@@artlist_io I'm very happy with artlist/artgrid, specifically since I discovered the new bundle artlist max. Now I get SFX and 4K Footage. The workflow for downlading videos is also better/faster than artgrid, I think.
Awesome, Herman. And there are strong correlations between video editing habits and, quite frankly, any creative endeavor. Like you, the one I learned early on was the organization thing. I now use very descriptive folders and bins, and also label-date my filed names, i.e. "221222-R2 Timeline.docx". Thanks for all these pointers.
Sure! It's actually a mix of two sounds, a Whoosh and an Impact. We used the Whoosh as is, but added some of the ticking sounds of the Impact to match the flickering of the on-screen text. This is the Whoosh we used: bit.ly/3Wo4rFX And this is the Impact: bit.ly/3FV8Fhi
Thanks Joshua 🙌 And thanks for fixing our mistake! It was an issue with the chapters in the description, forgot to label "Not enabling & disabling clips". It's corrected now and all 10 mistakes are there ;)
Nice tutorial, thanks for sharing! I am a new content creator and artlist user. As a new creator it is sometimes hard to find the right SFX. I loved the SFX in this video. Request: would you be able to list the names of SFX used in this video, that i can use as inspiration for my own content? Hopefully you will consider adding this to your description many thanks!
how do you guys deal with producers constantly asking for changes in the edit while at the same time, challenging your creativity with their changes? I'm currently working in corporate edits and I've been getting mixed messages about being creative with the edit (by my bosses) and following the script/ tending to what the producers want. it's a really frustrating process.
You forgot the number one mistake, which is to never subscribe to artlist because they will change their license model so you now have to constantly worry that your clients will get unjustified copyright claims. Oh and ofc artlist thinks we are stupid and tries to sell it as a cool new "feature".

@@artlist_io I already applied last week with my RUclips channel ✌️ Are there any minimum requirements? I have a small channel but this years started to grow a lot, when I started to create DaVinci Resolve tutorials.
Yeah, Premiere Pro is definitely not the only option these days, and if you're just starting out - might as well consider other options. We at Artlist also offer free editing software as part of Artlist Max, so there's a lot to choose from ;) However, we do still need to consider that Premiere is an industry-standard at a lot of places (if you work at a production studio for example).
What video editing mistake did you use to make? How did you overcome it?
Let's share some knowledge!

Some things you learn through experience but that's just part of the journey! Sounds like a really neat project you have going on too 🤩

It sounds so easy but once you really get into it, organization can be key and the most crucial!
can you name this sfx at 2:49 (add edit text reveal )

This stuff is helpful. Thanks amigos!
You shoud try Davinci REsolve with Live Save and auto backup. And press D to deactivate a clip.
Nice tip 👍
DaVinci definitely has some nice features.
Very well presented video. Organizing files it was something that I used to neglect a lot before. Now I think I am struggling with sound design.
Seems so obvious doesn't it but so easy to neglect! You learn something new every day
love his energy!
He brings it every time! 🤩
This is stellar!
He did do a stellar job didn't he!! 🤩
Hey Herman, thanks for this video! I was taking notes the whole time. I counted 9 mistakes listed in the vid instead of 10 - just as a heads up
Thanks Joshua 🙌

Like always amazing video and production. Well explained Herman ;-) My editing mistake was using Premiere Pro and getting frustrating all the time 🙂
Some things you just learn on the go- what works for you and what doesn't! And that's deff an important part of the process 😎

It seems like most of this advice is: Use Resolve. Stay away from Premire.
It really depends on the person and how you like to work, can't know what works for you until you try it right!

I don't remember saving any of my projects with with Final Cut Pro 🤔🤣😂
I'd swap 'Not making backups' for 'Using Premiere Pro'.
It's just not worth it anymore.
