Silent Hill 1, Parasite Eve and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis were all released in the late 90's, and that particular style of survival horror spawned from the 90's. But other than that, nice review. I remember playing The new Nightmare when it came out, i loved the vibe, atmosphere, artistry behind it, but compared to it's competition, the gameplay was mediocre, even frustrating at times, and the story and character arcs just didn't hold enough conceptual gravititas to keep me pulled in, that with the high level of difficulty, i never completed it. Shame as aesthetically it has a lot to be admired
Thanks, you are right. I was so sure it was early 2000s that I didn't confirm it. Lesson learnt there. And yes, the game was really cool, but definitely could have improved on the gameplay alot more. I never could beat it before until recently; probably needed a lot more experience to face this old gem! lol.
