Baby ducks! Eeeeeee! Brave to be hauled up mast, and great to have shrouds repaired. If you like, check out: The rigger's apprentice, by Brian Toss.

I wondered about the rigging material cost. I spent three years in Spain in the mid 60s as a child, so your videos are refreshing memories. Appreciated!

Oh, everything stainless is expensive those days. I think 400 euro ish for those two. Glad to hear you appreciate the videos, there will be more Spain to come!

You can use galvanised in stead of stainless, stronger and cheaper but needs bit more maintanance like paint when getting older.

Be careful, in that i have concluded most riggers tension sailboat rigs far too tight (especially if you have oversized rigging). You are a cruiser, not trying to win a Transpac! Also, if you can, find what rig size the original designer intended and the design tension (a lot of owners assume it is a good thing to increase the size of the shrouds. Older, over built boats, had a lot of strength and could survive over tensioning for a period but newer boars are more critical. I have seenl chain plates create stress fractures in the bulkheads and, worse, i have seen hull delaminaton due to stresses they were not designed to take.

True, we went with original size and we do tension the rig ourselves, but it is not always easy, since to little tension also can case damages when there is a lot of pressure in the sails and big waves make them flap.

@sailingtilda Yes, there is a minimum too. Enjoy the Mediterranean.

I carry spare rigging wire and parts on my boat and know how to fix it which i learned from an experienced rigger.

Oh, I wouldn't dare to press the terminal myself, and neithet have I the tools! bBut now at least I have a spare one (the once exchanhed but not broken)

@@sailingtilda there are video's on youtube on how to do the rigging. And you need a tension meter. Its handy to know how it works in case one needs it.

@@sailingtilda There may be places you can "rent" the tools for these repairs, but you are on your own if they don't work. Agree with the tension gauge, I have one.

@@olivei2484 maybe so, but ut is a vital part if the boat. Absolutely I think sailors should be able to do the rigging themselves, but for manufacture new shroudd, to me it's something only for the pros!

@@sailingtilda I agree, I dont want to do it either.
