I applaud anyone who has the courage to submit their tank pics for review by Green Aqua. Brutally honest reviews. I could never do that lol. #11 is stunning for a first tank.
Tommy, thank you for this video and for reviewing my tank - #9. Your advice (monstera climbing support) will be realised soon😊 Respect to everyone who sent in their photos! Interesting tanks to see and a lot to learn from Tommy's comments.
4:49 is my tank, there is another rock on the other side of the rotala, as this is the back view of the tank, I submitted both front and back views, but glad to be featured on the video, thanks for the advice! 😊
hes absolutely right about the fish choices. please provide your fast swimming species long tanks and good flow to keep moving, this stimulates exploration and promotes them to keep growing
I came here to say this. I think that it's because they're in Europe where they don't have ACs as much. But here in the US we all have ACs because without them we would boil. I keep my house at about 68 to 70° year round which is not warm enough for almost any fish or plants.
Dont forget the lights radiate quite a bit of heat. The pump in your filter also generates a little heat. I have a 320L closed tank and last year, we didn't heat the house at all with temperatures down to 15-16. My tank stayed at around 21-22 during the coldest moments. I have a lid, though. This is important as my tank typically drops 3-4C with the lid off (we do this sometimes in the summer during hot streaks). With no lid I would expect the temperature to be 17C at its lowest at 15-16C. In your case, this would be ~19C, which is not that bad for either fish or plants. It would slow metabolism a little, but on the other hand the CO2 will dissolve very efficiently. With a lid, you'd sit in the golden range 22-23.
I really love this video. It was very helpful and inspiring. 🤗🐠 Many beautiful scapes, and really great advice and tips, too. Thanks to everyone involved.
I'm #48. You must remember that 20-30 liters in a cube and those in a shallow tanks are different. For fish, the volume is not as important as the width of the tank. Fish usually swim horizontally, so width is more important than height ;) Greetings
Beginning of the video he said when you send in tanks to be judged you remove the tech. He told you his criteria for how he personally judges. People want his opinion and that’s the metric he uses to give it.
Hey Tommy, hopefully you can read this. I wanted to know your opinion on a topic I don't see often discussed: mixing high requirement with low requirement plants. It's just that for a long time, I've struggled with such an issue: I have low light plants such as Microsorum Trident, which I love, and red Rotala varieties. The struggle is that the rotalas need high light, but if I add high light then I get algae, because of all the low light plants which I have at the bottom, and if I reduce the light intensity, I get rid of the algae, but the rotalas look bad. The only way I've been able to sort of fix this, is to raise the rotalas inside the tank to get closer to the light, but that also has its challenges. I have a good maintenance routine and hi-tek equipment such as Chihiros WRGII, CO2 injection, a good canister filter, and RO water. Should I just give up on the low light plants and keep the light intensity high? What advice would you give me?
I know you asked Tommy, but my tank has both high light and low light plants. Typically what happens is my high light plants create shade for the low light plants below. As for your algae, maybe you have been playing too much with the lights and now you created some instability? I have always found that your regime doesn't matter as much as the stability of the tank itself.
I don't see the point of doing it without being honest. People send in their work to get advice, how to get better. You can't learn from positives only. Be brave next year, joing the club ;)
Tommy, congrats for your time analysing all those aquariums. Even for me that didn't send a picture from my aquariums it was very helpful. Just one question: is it true that blueish led light stimulate algae? A friend told me this some time ago, and I'm struggling to balance the colors here
#40 Here thx for ur advice Tommy. Im Adding some Micranthemum glomeratum to Get more height in the back. Only Problem i cant Get rid of the Green Algea on the hardscape and advice?
Hello, I have a request for help. In my aquarium I changed the filter to a canister one, added zeolite, ceramics and a sponge. And at the bottom I put a new active substrate, "advenced soil original". The water is in an RO filter. Two days after the changes, the water becomes milky, the fish (Ramireza cichlids) died, and the Ph jumped from 6.5 to 7.8. Large the changes only help with cloudiness, but the pH does not drop. Please give me some advice because this is my first time. Regards, Patryk from Poland.
Look I get it you don't want to see filters and heaters but, if you're doing a fish tank review atleast expect people Not to be able to afford an all in one system or a canister filter, I have a aquaclear 70 and I wish I can hide it. Especially heaters you don't know if these people might be in the north of the united states or Europe where it's cold and not suitable for tropical fish it's very unrealistic to expect people to heat up their houses for 1 aquarium. And also be able to hide it behind the anubias
These guys do contest scapes. For the photo you would always remove all the tech, even if you had a canister with a heater in, you’d turn it off and take the pipes out for the picture. Even if they’re not looking at it from that angle, this channel speaks to what you should aim for if you want a high standard, that’s not to say it’s bad if you can’t afford a canister filter with a heater in it yet, just that is the aim because you can’t argue that it looks better without one in view.
My point was if you send your work for a review, remove items that are not part of the actual scape for taking the photo. It's difficult to not take them into consideration when you're trying to evaluate a work where first glance impression is the most important factor. It's not about money or having cold/warm weather, it's just about appreciating what you do without disturbing plastic stuff covering it.
why this guy think every tank is a "contest tank" LOL its just a simple submit for a review. not for a contest LOL and they submit it as "as-is" lol not to accommodate him xD
"This guy" is trying to help people improve their aquascapes and the people sending their work are expecting that help exactly, that's the point of this video. Part of that improvement is to respect your own work with removing distracting elements when you show it to others so they can appreciate the work itself.

It's such an interesting thing to see though!
100% was thinking this while watching. My scapes look like child’s play compared to these😂😅
#11 is great! 👍
Thanks for taking the time to create videos like this.
The interaction is really great for hobbyists and it’s cool to see so many quality scapes 🙌🏻
Tommy, thank you for this video and for reviewing my tank - #9.

Interesting tanks to see and a lot to learn from Tommy's comments.
Just a question regarding your tank, are those 2 fish in the middle siamese algae eaters. I'm just interested because they looks very big

I wish this were a more frequently recurring series! I learned a lot watching this.

You say don't heat aquascapes, my house is never 22/23c, I would boil. We keep it at 18c, a heater in my tank is a must.

22 23 is boiling temperature? try 35 and thats still nothing😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@yawg333 in the UK it's 12-16c most of the time. So yeah, indoors, 23c is uncomfortable here.
@@yawg333 if you wanna lay on a bed or sit on a couch at 95 f then go for it but I'm not doing that.

Tank wasnt included but still a great video. Lotsa talented aquascapers
Mine too. I am kind of disappointed as I sent it in immediately when the announcement was made.
Thank you very much for the review!!!! #15
What amazing aquariums you send for the reviews!!!

I'll submit too with some originals ❤
Thanks for the review of my tank #45 @tommy , Green aqua !! 😀 Happy that my scape was shown in your channel 🎉
i love especially Nr.: 50, 34, 39, 26, 16, 9, and even Nr. 48, but 24 Liters is a no-go for fish in my eyes...
Thx

lol that’s mine at #16, I’ve upgraded the lighting since that photo and it’s transformed the scape
Nice! I have a Chihiros WRGB II and highly recommend it! Great tank you have. Are you going to do any of Tommy's suggestions?
Caring about a heater in the photo when you don't even know the environment it is in is very funny.
You can still take it out for the photo. I need a heater for 22 / 23 degrees but if it was in the tank like that I’d take it out for the photo
Beginning of the video he said when you send in tanks to be judged you remove the tech. He told you his criteria for how he personally judges. People want his opinion and that’s the metric he uses to give it.
Love this type of video, I hope one day I get brave enough to send in a pic. Gave me some great ideas and tutoring.
Aquascaping 4 Life
I really liked the video. It opens the mind like how to see aquascapes in a aquascaper way 😊

Very cool! I hope you make reviews more often they are very informative.
I had a great time watching Tommy sharing a lot of useful information, and I will be looking forward to seeing the next one in 2025 !!!

Would the heater in tank 1 be more for the ember tetras?
How do I achieve a tree like this at number 5? (6:10)

Every light can trigger the algae. I'm not sure if this is the dedicated blue LED/T5 or the blue spectrum in the LED you're referring to
@@GreenAquaShop particularly the blue spectrum in the LED

Pour spoon of distilled white vinegar on rock or sand- if it foams, it is going to change the PH.
aquarium number 5 has what plants to get the tree effect?
I would like to know the answer too
My best guess is Cladophora (moss balls)
where can I send the picture of my aquarium, I would appreciate some advice
Omg I love you calling out too big fish. So many overstock their tanks.
How do we do that?
Pls keep make this kind of content until i see my own tank 😂
