    It may be very possible as it is a very common molecular biology process, that there is a negative feedback effect where the blood supply causes a DHT production increase which in turn produces less blood supply (due to hair miniaturization) and then more DHT production and so on ... the negative loop keeps being fed. Therefore, stopping any or both of those problems (restoring blood supply or blocking DHT pathway) will produce hair growth. I wouldn't disregard that idea completely since both may be right.

    Excellent topic that I’ve also been pondering on. I always wondered if the diffused loss of hair in 60, 70, 80 plus year olds was due to DHT or just from aging? As we age all of our organs slowly die in old age and I wondered if this was the case with hair in men who has never experienced MPB prior? Great message that meds are still the best defense over the life span. As a hair transplant patient I know that no matter how good my donor may look now it will be at value risk in the coming years as I’m 56. Once again many thanks Kevin for sharing! 🙏

    Great you brought up this subject. Been something really bothering me at age 44 with no regrowth from trying Dusteride 0.5 mg per second day over a year now. Doctor refuse oral minoxidil. I am still around 2,5-3 NW. Worse in right side because men lose more temple hair there on average it seems from hair science. Will properly do some tiny transplant in Turkey and go back to a 1NW preferably. That is when I am having more money at hand. At least I am not really bald like many others above the crown. I can still go to metal gigs and bang that hair:) I just hate how greasy the scalp becomes after topical Minoxidil. Especially with long hair. I also feel like it gives zits. So have to start up Tretinoid and Basiron here. Something starts thinning the hair when getting older. Its not the DHT in everyone. Its the diameter of the hair shaft. Some follicle out dying phasing.

      @Cosmic_Code Год назад

      @@LarsRyeJeppesen Afraid it will nuke the DHT even more. Fin reduce DHT with 68-72 % approx. Dutasteride reduce DHT with 84-98 %
      So my logical was that I can already feel over a year of taking it that my scrotum or behind the Penile and testicles, that prostate is properly reduced at least 50%. Might be a good thing if its enlarged? Think it was only 5-10 % enlarged before. So it feels different and I am not making it up. I am also concerned it will shrink the penile. Before starting 5-Alpha Reductase Inhibitors. I was almost 21.5 cm. (Almost 9 inch) Lately I measured to round 18.5 to 19. 5 cm. (Just 8 inch) Think the circumference is the same somewhat? 13.8 cm around, but feels smaller somehow. Its hard to explain. When I go to the gym its really small in girth or flaccid after a heavy workout. And people would get a shock knowing it can grow 8 inch. Would look like highest 5 or some it could do.
      Its just tiny concerning. I don't want to believe in post finasteride syndrome.
      But lets look objective on things. Body builders like myself will often take DHT compounds to get more hard muscles. Now I only tried once a very small cycle with such pills. Very mild. However, does it not makes sense that Derek from MPMD is wrong when he states that you get 15-20 % more free T from jumping on Fin Or Dut? When you also reduce the DHT. DHT is small part of free T. Sure, But its making you hard and its even making your muscles look hard and giving you strength. Their must be something to it?
      On top of that my beard is okay on my chin and mustache but is absent from my cheeks and throat. Meaning I might not even have too much DHT already?
      Therefore I am slightly concerned lowering this much with Dutasteride. I even think of going back on Finasteride but if I run some cycles, I might stay on Dutasteride to combat hair loss better.
      What would you do in my situation with these observations? After i started Fin and went to Dut. I also started Viagra and switched to Cialis. I just felt the blood circulation and most of all the feeling was more numb and it was hard to feel the nerves. Properly DHT related?
      When you then take Cialis because of Dut and then have to now also get prescribed anti reflux tabs for the burn in the throat that cialis create with 5 mg aday. You are taking 2 medicine extra because of the first one? Chain reaction.
      If I was having some enormous hairy beard and body. Closer to getting bald? I would properly have enough DHT to endure the agony that comes along with Fin or Dutasteride.
      Also the brainfog is pronounced.
      Experienced any of this? I know its taboo and I am very honest here. I got nothing to lose at this state in life and if not honest then I might as well not contribute to anything or live life.

    I think one of the major reasons is a decline in GROWTH HORMONE! A lot of guys with hair loss or who've been near completely bald have been able to regrow a full head of hair after starting to take HGH. What is the other main hormone that reduces with aging other than T and DHT? It is growth hormone. The reduction of GH release could be one of the major causes of senile alopecia. I take a GH secretion promoting drug and just so happen to regrow a lot of hair on my Norwooded areas. I am not taking finasteride otherwise.

If DHT is not the culprit, then what made the hair miniaturise in the first place? Are you saying it's purely "aging"? Because that's not a deep enough answer, what's the answer at a cellular level?

      Possible for some. Others probably just had really good genetics.
      You can follow a lot of these guys' hair progression because there's so many photos. If they seemed to be slowly receding then they suddenly have full heads of hair again then it's probably a hair system. If they had recession and then creeped back down to a lower Norwood level I'd say medication and/or transplant. If they never showed any sign of recession it's probably just good genes.
      Roger Waters from Pink Floyd is a great example. 79 years old with a perfect hairline. MAYBE he's thinned a tad over time, but the Norwood reaper probably won't make any significant dent in his hair before the real reaper takes him out. Lots of photos of him throughout the years and never showed any signs of thinning or recession. From what I've seen his whole family has pretty good hair. Was the ugliest dude in the band in their early years and is now the most handsome of the three left... if you're him I don't know if that's good or bad.

    Hey Kev, I have a question regarding gt20029 I saw your video on it but you did not tackle one subject. If the drug is degrader of receptor (It destroys the receptor) and if it goes systemic a little bit (according to phase 1 trial) Does that mean, it would demasculize you in the long term? muscle building potential is corelated to androgen receptor density in the muscle, also while maturating, androgen receptor density in the face along with testosterone (not dht) is coorelated with jaw size and other masculine facial features?

      It looks like the amount of systemic absorption is very low, but we will have to see if there are any anti-androgen sides in the larger trials. In any case, it would not cause any permanent changes, because your androgen receptors would come back after stopping the drug.

    Hmm... but if senescent alopecia is the explanation to why balding progresses as you age even though DHT levels drop, wouldn't that require that everyone who has AGA also has senescent alopecia? Because otherwise there would be a type of person who has AGA, but not SA and such a person would have their hairloss halt as DHT levels drop and maybe even reverse slightly, yet we know that type of person doesn't exist. Furthermore, as the study you reference says, when they examined ppl who started balding before 30 and those who started after 60, they found genetic differences, meaning that the AGA sufferers did not have the SA genes that the guys who went bald after 60 had (in other words, they didn't have SA).

    • @haircafekevin
      @haircafekevin  Год назад

      Usually by the time DHT drops with old age, people with AGA have had enough irreversible damage done by DHT that the drop in DHT no longer has much effect. This goes along with 5AR blockers working best when they are started at a younger age, and they have less effect if you start them too late. Or at least that's how I would explain it.

I had a nice set hair with very little graying up to about 2 years ago when thinning, receding hairline & some balding at the vertex started developing. I don't know if it's AGA or SA 🤔 (my father died early but both of my grandfathers lived into their 80's & had no MPB - just a little thinnng & normal graying). What about your father, if I my ask - his age & does he have any hair loss?
      Furthermore, I got a script from my doc for fin. I didn't start the 1 mg daily standard dose but instead followed the Hair Loss doc's recommended 1 mg 3xweek (MWF). I had some side-effects, so again at their recommendation, cut that down to .5 mg 3xweek - which I believe equates to .2 mg a day? (.5 mg ÷ 7 = .21). Side-effects gone & I feel pretty good on that dose (been on that dose for 3 months now). However, I'm not seeing any results nor even stabilization. So, I don't know if I have AGA or SA 🤔 (gets confusing on the difference of these two conditions?).
      Funny thing virtually every friend or acquaintance of mine around my age or older at my gym, have some level of hair loss & hair thinning. Even a couple of old timers I know with long hair (these guys have pure gray hair that they ponytail) have some balding going on (vertex) or receding hairline. I've ask all these all guys if they have taken fin or considered taking fin - they all say they never even heard of it & that they're happy with their hair the way it is. I probably wouldn't care about my hair either except I'm widowed & in the dating market - and you'd be surprised at how many of these old women in my age demographics despise bald guys & want a dude with a full set of hair! 🤣

    Hey man, this isn't especially relevant to this video, but I've been watching your videos for a while now, and I was wondering this: could use of these hair loss treatments possibly have an epigenetic effect? Supposing one takes finasteride or whatever to suppress DHT sensitivity, could this suppressed sensitivity pass on to their kids, and so on? I am not a geneticist, and I've only recently started looking into hair loss treatments, so I might just be talking out of my rear.

    Key Kevin, do you have any info on Minoxidil shedding a 2nd time, or periodical shedding? Could be a good idea for a video.
