In my opinion, yes. And I’m a huge fan of Demna overall. I think the other 3 collections seemed much more polished and fleshed out. It’s like, he COULD be onto something with the concepts he’s trying to introduce to couture, but this didn’t seem like his best effort to push the envelope and explore those ideas further because the final product of those streetwear/subculture-influenced looks do end up looking way too similar to his ready to wear, like you mentioned. Like okay bring these RTW ideas that are new to couture. And the work put into making them is impressive for sure. But a maybe also elevate the overall looks accordingly. Feels like there is potential.
I think Demna is so talented, but for some reason he loses the mojo gradually. I loved Vetements when it started, it was disruptive but so well put together, really cool. Things started getting lazy and messy - and I love messy when it’s well executed. Then, in 2015 he started doing Balenciaga. That first collection is one of my top 5 collections of all time. Brilliant to the core, and here we are, again, talking about how lazy this couture show was. There’s a pattern here, and it’s not a good one, unfortunately
I know couture is expensive, that's like a given, but must it also be beautiful, at least to the majority of people ? I though fashion primarily is beauty. Then some of it became political, and now this ...... conceptual. There should a room for different things, but personally, I like my fashion to be about beauty ( my own definition of course ). This is f***** ugly IMO.
I loved it. I wasn't bored. It technically met all the requirements but of course people would rather just look at pretty dresses. He's pushing the boundaries of the future of fashion. This collection actually cemented my appreciation for Demna's work. You'll know it's couture when you touch it, when you wear it, but not necessary when you look at it.
What I learned as part of an RTS gaming community for 20 years is that people will play the exact same scenario and will reject every single change to it, not matter how boring and repetitive the scenario becomes. This is why Demna receives so much hate: he's the one ALWAYS bringing lots of new things and silhouettes onto the stage, much more so than any single other designer, but people hate change and they will say shit like "Cristobal rolling in his grave" because all they wanna see is the same "beautiful" ball gowns over and over and over again (look at how universally acclaimed tacky Schiaparelli is by all the people shopping at Zara), as they are NOT intellectually equipped to recognize the value in his work.
Wouldn't call this couture in a million years.
More like a mid ready-to-wear collection.

It's horrific as everything that Balenciaga does🤯
I really appreciate Demma’s work; however, the last collection has been very similar. I couldn't agree more that he has made the most stylish shoes.
Even if I had unlimited money I would not spend a 100k on these boring, streetwear looking crap sorry not sorry lol
When shit like this comes out everyone in the room should stand up and walk out.
The butterflies are probably monarch programming.
It’s anybody going to call the emperors new clothes ? It’s just ridiculous. Lol.

Anna del russo is my favorite part of this show, which is telling
I need denim pant coolest couture
Maybe is the change to a better designer 😊
