I think killing the driver is pretty much penetrating the side armour
At least the tank did not blow up entirely
@@Schlau-xo7hrbecause there is no ammo beside the driver, if the hull ammo rack is loaded, the missile would destroy the ammo too.
also driver position from the side is the worst position to shoot
majority of the times were the driver was killed that was the 2a7 not the b+

Well there is a choice. If you don't like Strv 122, you can always try Leopard 2A7. These are different tanks, after all!

@@88BaCbOk88it’s actually a somewhat different form of D tech armor, which is better but not by much. It’s meant to improved upon the Leopards side frontal arc protection.
This video is very strange in the set up of the armor testing.
None of these side armor packages, mostly D tech add on armor (2A7V) or Swedens (Solution) MEXAS-H D-2/3 side add on armor, is meant for flat side protection aside for mildly the MEXAS armor.
This armor is meant for frontal side arc protection like threats from frontal angles as protection, this is quite literally the case for the 2A7Vs D tech armor.
For full side arc protection you will have future components like APS and full coverage of D tech or MEXAS with slat armor on the rear, rear sides of hull.
2A7V has mountings for additional side armor but this armor hasn’t been implemented yet.

@@potato_sniffer no, PSO D tech side add on armor is for the most part a UbrOp package ancestor, made by KMW with collaboration with IBD Engineering before 2A7+ UbrOp package was released; it’s domestically German based.
What the Strv 122B+ has is a KMW, IBD and Aker (IBD subsidiary but it’s based in Sweden) collaborative project/development package armor. It’s naturally still considered a MEXAS predecessor and I’m not sure what Sweden has it specifically for its designation but it is primarily a MEXAS/D tech derivative of add on heavy side armor for Sweden and domestically for Sweden.
In game, the PSO side add on armor is not as thick as Swedens Strv 122B+ side add on armor, this is due to that development separation.

It could just essentially be the full UbrOp package but as we know, 2A8 has already been released as a project and production by KMW, not necessarily keeping a UbrOp predecessor package as an option, but it is implied.
Leopard 2A8 is stated to be an update with EuroTrophy APS and full integration support for BMS and essentially fills some of the protection gaps for the 2A7V platform in a common platform standard.
With APS there may not be a need for a full add on armor kit but this has yet to be implied that a full add on armor kit hasn’t been developed for the 2A8.

Леопарды в принципе очень живучие стали, бортом накуют как советы раньше.
Чёт я не помню, чтобы что-то кроме Б3 и 90М и БВМ танковало бортом. И то это самые топы, и то первый и последний танковали лишь рандомом. Советы вообще не особо живучая нация. Как минимум можно отметить карусель, взрывные топливные баки, три члена экипажа, картонную башню с хрустальной казёнкой, крышу башни, в которую что только не залетает, наитупейший лючок мехвода, наитупейшая компоновка, что ухудшает и без того ужасную живучесть, а так же можно приплести скорость... Наводки, разворота, заднего хода, всё это не способствует выживаемости. Короче я хз, чё там советы у некоторых танкую, но когда у меня от прямой маски 2А4 происходит рикошет, я начинаю думать, что качал явно не ту нацию.
@@dutch1107 схуяли у советов башня картонная и они не живучие? Если нлд не показывать и жопой не стоять к противнику, шанс ваншота тебя практически 0, ни один лом не бьет влд т-90/80.
Влд ничего не пробивает? Скажи это лючку мехвода))). Да и башня картон тот ещё, её частенько пробивают даже не в район маски, а просто на отъебись. К тому же имеется крыша, которая ровно такой же картон, так ещё и из-за тесной башни тебе частенько помимо казёнки будут выбивать и одного члена экипажа, что кажется "не так много, ибо не влияет на эффективность танка", но когда тебе в очередной раз пробьют маску, попросту некому будет пересесть.
@@ddd-sx7pw дело в том, что в реалиях размеров наших карт никто совкам в влд и щеки не стреляет, совсем другое дело - 5км и больше, вот там то совок и сможет выжить (нет)
@@dutch1107 ну в этом и прикол, что совков надо выцеливать, на отьебись в влд не пробьешь, а нато танки именно так и пробиваются
2A7 is overall better cuz of the better thermals and apfsds. B+ does have better protection but that doesn't matter cuz the same spots won't be penetrated even if you're in a 2A7. You'll be shot in the weakspots anyways so that additional armour on the spots no one's gonna shoot at anyways are not that useful. And 2A7 has more smokes

i wish you knew what CE/KE protection and no tandem/tandem warhead means :) then you would know why 400-600mm missile wouldn't pen (other 50% is that it is not working properly)....one of the reason russian tank missiles to the side skirt...
most of the time you are better to look for weakspots for overpressure (commander/gunner optics, top roof panel, neck, drivers hatch)

@@MARKED_CAP You should do some more research man. The merkavas are pretty dam impressive but as with any tanks, urban warfare, atgms, drones and not enough infantry or recon will result in a tanks destruction almost always.

This is a Sweden leopard 2 not a German one, Sweden Leo's have more composite screen on side armor as you can see in the video, and also leopard 6 doesn't have spall liners
