Here for it!!
👊👊👊💖💖💖
That things a looker!!!
Knew you would like it
Should test it with one had cuts, Tachis were meant to be used for a lot of single hand slashes
Yes I hear you, but this geometric wasn't necessarily a traditional Tachi in dimensions and form...it was more a Shinogi Zukuri blade surrounded and decorated with Tachi like fittings, so it didn't have the balance and Sori of a real Tachi, thanks so much for watching
Thanks for the History lesson. Outstanding video as always Joe
Awesome thanks so much Jeff
Thats a nice looking sword! Very reasonable price. Good stuff Joe!
Absolutely brother and thank you
Awesome video brother!
Many thanks big Thras.
That's gorgeous Joe. Holy Smokes.
I'm very fond of the traditional Tachi
Interesting piece brother!!!! I’m learning about swards and that’s a cool thing!!!!! Thanks for teaching me about swards!!!!!
I do my best my friend, much appreciated Pete
Very nice review. Great work.
Much appreciated brother

Very nice Brother!
Thank you kindly David
Great video joe, the one thing I don't like with most tachi is that no one makes them with the deep sori,on most.
Agreed, I have seen some high price pieces with more pronounced Sori but not like historical originals.
For 200.00 that's a lot of sword brother. Love the history at the beginning. Bro nobody shows a blade like you! I'm glad most of the money is in the blade makes sense!
A pretty resilient blade for 200 bucks...thanks brother
i think i got one similar
mine looks the same with the over the top “fake” styled wall hanger type tsuba
but it’s got a T10 steel blade and a true sori
great video! really love this
Yeah they cut corners, to cut cost, all in all a good cutter but if you want great reproduction from a close up view look elsewhere and be ready to spend much more...much appreciated my friend
I would guess a third of the price was shipping :)
You may be right but never put one in a cart to know for sure
Have you had any experience with the Shikoto Black Kogane Dynasty Forged Tachi From budk, it’s another budget sword that goes for $160. It looks pretty cool but I don’t know anything about that brand.
No can't say I have TBH I keep away from Bud K ..I try to aquire higher quality pieces but samples like yes katana are send to me, I will definitely give them a look and give my opinion and experience with them...thanks for your support friend
I'm also surprised in the quality of the steel. Given the price (and the guady zinc alloy fittings) I would've expected this sword to be less than subpar overall. Good review Joe
Sometimes when the blade is good, and for the price, you can overlook the shortcomings
Like the saya, and sageo color
Yes a nicely done saya, got alot less solidity in the past for more money
Like others have said here not bad at all for $200
Nice to see when swords are priced correctly and give you more than a wall hanger
11:30 "ashi". Literal translation means "Legs".
Ashi also refers lines through the hamon added during the clay hardening process to prevent the edge from over hardening or cracking in the water quenching process.
🤔🤔🤔👊👊👊
11:40 the sageo on these tachi actually is itself the belt used to wear it, normally, but if your obi belt was thin enough, you could use it the same way,
Just like European sword belt systems, a lot of it was not super standardized, and people would wear it how they saw fit. That also applies to how katana were worn with sageo for the most part
Very interesting I can see how that would be done
Joe! For $205 it is a fairly good looking set up. It looks like they put all of their cost into the blade itself, the rest is more cosmetic problems, other than the loose pieces.
Priced perfectly, I love to see that in the sword market
it's not damascus, it's a pattern weld. but fun to see you review budget swords. your form and edge allignment could use some work but you look like you're having fun. good on you.
Appreciate you watching and your input👊👊
Unless they sent you a ringer....sweet looking blade other than that concern.
The blade....Hopefully that's the quality they hold for all sales
9:35 kojiri, Saya jiri ("Chape" "Scabbard Chape"). Both terms are good
👊👊
It's kind of misinformation that the recipe for wootz steel was lost. It was made by melting down various scrap carbon steels and casting them into billets, then they were forge welded together to stabilize it. It produced a pattern similar to tamahagane but with significantly less impurities comparable to modern steel.
I would not call it misinformation as that is the extent to what we know, many believe the process that was practiced was kept secret and not passed on in generations as the process of Tamahagane was and is, so yes we know somewhat but not entirely how the ancients developed and made it...
I don't think that's quite a long enough sword to qualify as an actual tachi more like a uchi-katana in a tachis mountings but cool sword none the less
That's not a tachi..more like a Shinogi zukuri with tachi like mountings, but a very well made blade with cheap surroundings..still a fun cheap representation that actually cuts and stands up well....thanks for watching dude
@@JoeSteel1 no problem I'm not sure if I remember mentioning this or not but my cold steel warrior oh katana I basically considered a Handachi which is like a regular tachi without all the extra fancy fittings basically a utilitarian version in modern terms
@@JoeSteel1 and also thanks for watching all my ramblings and nonsense I don't know if my videos are any help to you or anyone else but I appreciate you watching them
Cool sword. The way i look at it when it comes to sword tests is if the target is similar/equivalent to what the sword would've encountered historically then its not "hard use". It's only hard use if asking it to do things that a historical weapon (made out of weaker less homogenous steel btw) couldnt do. If a company cant match that performance w/ better materials then....."get gud scrubs", cause that's no good.
Point well spoken and I respect it.
6:05 if I'm seeing it right that end knot looks similar to a "gunto knot". It's uglier and not as symmetrical as a more traditional end knot, but it does the job
It does, but overall could all have been pulled tighter
The length listed looks like it’s short to be a tachi
Brother it's not really a Traditional replica of a tachi...its a Shinogi Zukuri in tachi style dressing....needs alot more Sori and lenght to be considered a Tachi but it can cut..
5:00 Kabuto-gane "cap-metal" and kashira are both common terms
Thanks for all the 411 my friend
@@JoeSteel1 I know, I left a lot of comments on this one. Lol
Not too bad,you didn’t get a horse with it ???lol.
No that's the next price up, maybe I'll get a pony one day...😄😄😄
@@JoeSteel1 lol
That ubiquitous Toyotomi mon... 🤦🏻
👍👍
Not bad. I would prefer they lose the damascus and added some sori, but for the price, ypu could do much worse.
I would love a DH Tachi with some extra width and Sori, in Hira geometric with Choigi Hamon and an Okissaki tip...and quality Koshirae....but yea dude 200 bucks, can display or use
@@JoeSteel1 lol. That would be like 2k for that katana.
Exactly 😄
@@JoeSteel1 i mean tachi. Lol Force of habit.
That's just a katana in a tachi mounting, not a real tachi
Yuppers that's what I said..but what I liked was the "katana" blade being as sharp and tough as it was
All that bling makes it look tacky.
Just leave off with the gold wash.
I don't disagree, the main highlight of this sword is the very useable, resilient Damascus blade that came very sharp out of the box, it's dressed up to look like a Tachi in a cheap way, hence the price....but keep in mind historical Tachi where very embellished and decorative but in a quality and artistic way
Not a tachi. Too short. No sori. It's a katana blade with tachi fittings.
Yes Sir pretty much what I said in the video
