For years I have played Ludwig Classic Maple kits, but was finding they were too smacky and harsh in symphony centers. Ludwig sent me this kit to try, and I think it will be perfect for this use.

I had the same problem with the rail consolette. I found a solution by putting the tom atlas mount on the bottom lug instead of the top. Seemed perfectly fine, no stability issues.

Classic example of the old saying trust your ears,thay sound good but to my ears i love the attack and brightness of the classic maples....that kit sound very similar to my 61 premier mahogany all birch shell....exactly same kit ringo had before he went too ludwig......

I think the 3ply is more versatile than the classic maple.

There certainly is a lot a drummer can do with the Legacy. I am using it for quieter venue situations. Playing the Classic Maple and the Legacy side by side, the Classic gets a lot louder and projects further. This doesn't mean better, rather different.
