Fitted one of these engines in my bench grinder. Works ok. Use it for rounding the corners off cathedrals, could do with a toon though as I've just won a contract to deburr Anglesey.
Tip for the owner: Remove the “boat anchor” rear muffler, replace with mandrel bend Stainless with “hot dog” on each pipe. If the extra drone is annoying, add sound deadening in the spare well, but I didn’t bother. I got 7.6 L/100 on a long highway drive from Newcastle in NSW AUSTRALIA to Gympie QLD sitting on the speed limit with cruise control on. That Q7 had the 6 speed auto (2008), so the later model with the 8 speed should give even better economy. For a V8 it’s bloody amazing! I had a mild remap as well. Can’t remember the output. Heaps is all I’ll say:) Miss it. Thinking about buying the V12.
@@mikemayers9353 Sorry Mike you are wrong, Any turbo charged petrol or diesel Audi or not can be mapped and the darkside boys are amongst the best in the business. Stage 1 requires no hardware certainly not rods or bigger turbo. If you are planning on taking a RS3 to 1000 plus hp then yes I agree its going involve major upgrades but most poeople are happy with a decent hike in power and torque but keeping it reliable but with better drivability, just a map will easily give you a genuine performance gain.

Always said an a5 with the 4.2tdi in it would be extraordinary. Love my q7 4.2tdi and in middle of DPF delete and thinking next a remap and egr/swirl flap delete.
I Love mine had it for 7 years, It came with a sorry (DMS) tune so similar numbers. Price mine was £82k when new ouch! They will win many traffic light GP's, on a run at motorway speeds they are just as efficient as the v6 but towing is where they are excellent. Mine has spent most of its life towing a 2 ton caravan and you basically didnt notice it on the back. The only issue I have had is one of the dpf pressure sensors failled. A common fault on these and a cheap part but half the car has to come appart to change. The actual performance is alot closer in the real world to a V12 because the latter ones of these have the 8 speed box. Yes the brakes are poor and expensive oem work the best. Just a little insight from another V8 Q7 owner.
Had my Touareg v8 tdi mapped by DMS back in 2014. Never felt that good to drive despite a reputed 400+ BHP. Took it to Darkside and had it remapped again with the DPFs removed. It went from 408bhp on their dyno to 398bhp. You might imagine that I was slightly disappointed, but torque increased from 870Nm to 950Nm. The losses were only above 3500rpm. The EGTs dropped significantly from 960c to about 880c. It is so much smoother and better to drive. I can't rate these lads work highly enough.
Yes they should fail. It also carries a fine if caught. Recently they’ve cracked down on garages who remove them and it’s easy to spot if it’s been removed or hollowed out.

Hi there, what is EGT on pre catalyst? I have DPF and EGR off, straight exhaust, but cata is still there, and im pushing 370Hp and 950NM. TTH 450 BTR turbos. But my pre catalyst temp is 850 celsius on full load.. im just trying to get it to 450HP.. bit that temperature is worying me.. any tips?

@@vladimirmlinar Dont think catalyst itself is the problem. But the pipe right after the turbo is small as hell, much smaller than turbo exhaust. Same goes for piping after TVAs, too small. I´m burning 110mg at 4000RPM and have no problems with EGTs, but proper before turbo not after it, thats not so important. Barely gets to 700°C on a long pull.

It's not a good idea to remap a 2.0 143hp 300Nm BMW 118D, right? I like to do fast driving sometimes, I guess remapping is only for those who don't "race" and want power for everyday use otherwise its going to break The engine is an N4720C with only 50k miles on it or 80000km
Not really that impressive for a 4.2 V8. The B58 3.0 straight 6 in my M140i is running at a very safe 411bhp/576nm after a simple remap, with many running well over 600bhp, with a few simple mods.

The Cayenne 958 S Diesel V8 book figures are 385bhp & 850nm. Would be interesting to see how that behaves with a tune.

We tune most cars that still keep the DPF! If it's going to go it will anyway, driving style is the biggest killer.
