I'm glad I purchased the HR-V EX-L. I didn't test drive it, or sit in it, or even unlock it. My previous car was heavily damaged by hail (over 17K to repair). Fortunately, this was one of only five small SUVs available in my town. I immediately purchased it before anyone else. 👍

I wanted a 23 Accord EX last year as I was trading my 20 Fit EX with 8200 equity. In Texas, my insurance was going up 445.00 in my 6 months. A Civic was 440.00 more on insurance. The lowest increase was 235.00 on the 24 HRV EXL. I refused to pay almost 300 a month for insurance on the Accord. I got the 24 HRV EXL. My insurance is 229 a month. My payment is 342. I paid 29,000 MSRP and financed 20,500 for the HRV. I’m paying extra principal so in 10 months I’m down to 11,800. I’m glad I didn’t get the 1.5 turbo Accord as they have the oil dilution and blown head gasket issues. I’m glad I have the plain 4 cylinder engine. Accords and Civics are stolen a lot and expensive to repair.check the insurance before you buy a car. Some are less than others. I got the FWD in Milano Red. I get a lot of compliments on my car.

The only thing I don’t like is it is underpower. However, I don’t need anything more. It’s new design is hands down the best around. It’s classy and fun especially once you get up to speed. I would never pay anything over stick tho and a lot of these Honda dealers were doing that. I just gave a deposit for a 2024 too model. Can’t wait to get it. It offers so much more that than other other car in it’s class and for the price it’s SO worth it. Honda is really unmatched

Great review Kevin as always. The biggest and Iam not sure you mentioned is the ridiculous cost. Honda in general has seen significant increases. This could hurt the hrv as the crv lower trim may be equivalent to hrv higher trim. A Rav 4 Hybrid is almost the same price. Overall good vehicle but buyer beware in price in a very competitive small compact mkt. Hope you are well my friend.

We are recent proud owners of a new 2023 Honda HRV EXL. While the pricing seems to be bit higher than the competition, it makes up for it with residual value. The only negative comments that we have seen on RUclips, etc, have been "It's too slow, not great gas mileage and no rear arm rest". Being that it's not designed to compete in drag races, not very often transporting adults in the back seat or driving legal + speed limits on the interstates, the car does just great. 0-60 in 9 seconds is as good as some of the "performance" cars of a few years ago. The missing arm rest is just not that important unless you are doing a trip that exceeds a couple of hours with adults in the car and we are currently getting 35+ MPG at 65-70 MPH on the interstate. Guess having an upscale interior, an excellent compliant quiet ride and residual value doesn't count for much, eh?

Well with journalism you have to speak the good and the bad of course. Imagine if everyone said nice things about everything.. you wouldn’t be happy with a review like that would you?
You would call that a commercial and call that particular reviewer a sell out. If the bad doesn’t bother you, God bless. You found something that meets your needs and the good that the product does have enticed you enough to pull the trigger.
Perhaps for another shopper, the cons of this vehicle will be a turn off and the pros might not be good enough for them to convince them. Everyone is different my friend.

@@MeynMotorGroup I agree that both the good and the bad should be reported so that the public has the correct information. That way the buyer knows what may be the deciding factor to making their decision. But stating that one car can only achieve 28 city and 32 highway mileage when their competitor is capable of 29 and 34 or 0-60 is 9.1 second but the other brand is 8.9 seconds is ludicrous. I could use other examples but it would be pointless. The proof is in driving each of those that interest the buyer and let them make the decision. Yes, give them the facts, but one fact remains: How long do they last if the buyer decides to keep them for any length of time. That should be a deciding factor as well. But it is impossible to really know. One last point. It seems with different reviews come different opinions. Why is that?

This is the only model in the H lineup that I like right now. I also think it's the best looking car in its class. The sculpt of this is so good. Can't really put my thumb down on any one thing but this just does it for me. Blows the Toyota Corolla Cross out of the water for exterior styling. That car is butt ugly and so is most of the class and you know how much of a Korean fan boy I am so this is good praise lmao. The Kona has always looked terrible to me. On top of that it's too small and the interior is chintzy and doesn't remedy the small appearance. I got in a Kona the other day and I felt borderline trapped. Not something I could possivly own for myself. Was helping my sister cross shop the class. The base 2022 weighs 2906lbs, compared to a 2023 that 3304lbs.
So you're dragging almost an extra 400lbs around every mile. That is probably the main reason for for its mediocre gas mileage and less than steller acceleration.
That bigger, more "stable and crisp handling", 2023 unit you praised comes with a price. Consequently, I'll be looking at the possibilty of a HYBRID HRV only, in the future. With 2035 looming, gas only trade-ins won't be worth dog crap in the coming years. On the other hand, here in the Desert SW, the limitations of "electric only" are concerning in these remote mountains, where cell phone rescue appeals can't find a signal!
It's going to be a HYBRID, no matter what car/CUV brand (as long as it's Lexus, Acura, Honda, Toyota or Mazda, once they go Hybrid).

@@MeynMotorGroup Leasing is THE way to go. Payment is less because you are paying for the difference in value only. Also the term is shorter (3-4yrs). Thus, the capitalization is for a shorter time and a much smaller amount. As you approach 2035, you won't get desert sand for your trade. The trick is to get a Lexus, Honda, Toyota or Mazda.
