  • In this 2023 Honda HR-V Review, Brad and Jared are determined find out if the all-new HR-V is better than the last generation. They break the 2023 Honda HR-V into four categories and find out of it is actually bigger, faster, better looking and tackle the question of price. We all know the HR-V took on a massive price increase, but is it worth it? Did Honda do enough with their 2023 HR-V to justify a starting price increase of over $2500? There is a lot to unpack, and there is a lot of fun to be had in our latest and best review so far. So, come along for the sub compact drive of a lifetime as we review the all-new fully redesigned 2023 Honda HR-V.

Hey, I absolutely love my HRV LX with AWD. I think it is a wonderful little vehicle for the price. Not all of us can afford a CRV or other higher priced SUVs. Handles and rides beautifully, easy to get in and out of, and NOT sluggish or ugly !

    I had a 2022 Civic Sport I now I have a 2023 HR-V Sport and my wife had a 2022 CR-V touring
I loved the Civic but I love the HR-V WAY more.
I see people say that the HR-V is under powered..... I'm used to driving diesel and V-8 pickups and I'm totally fine with the HR-V. No complaints!
I bought it for fuel efficiency and reliability and I love it.
In the Civic I was getting 37.7 mpg and the HR-V 28.5 the CR-V 31.3 mpg
    104 miles a day 95% cruise control at 70 mph over 2000 rpm's of I keep it under 2000 rpm's I get close to 30 mpg.
I can barely tell the difference in power between the HR-V and the CV-R 1.5 turbo. Neither one is a sports car and I don't drive them like one.
Bottom line, I love everything about the HR-V !!!

@@HoodSlappersOfficial about 10 years ago I had a 99 or 2000 civic, can't remember the year since I owned 3 or 4 of that body style. I delivered pizzas in a blizzard, the town was shut down, right outside of Chicago. I made $450 that night passing 4x4 trucks that were stuck. It was a white knuckle night but it was a beast. Lol
      I've had about 6 civics.
It's hard to pick a favorite
The 2022 CR-V touring is impressive for its size. The ride is awesome.
I liked the 2017 Civic for the body style
It's a toss up between the 99 Civic and the HR-V.
The HR-V is roomy, it sits up higher, I like the ride, and it handles great. L.E.D. headlights and tail lights. It's a jacked up Civic with AWD. It is just a fun car to drive. The urban gray paint makes it looks a little more aggressive.
I seen a red 2023 HR-V WoW!! Looks really good in person. Pictures don't do it justice.

I previously had the 2016 HRV, and drove it for a couple years. I really enjoyed it after driving a Toyota Yaris for many years. I liked the size. I rarely have others in the car. And I got an average of 35 miles to the gallon. I traded it in for a 2023 HRV because I am driving too many miles per year to keep a car with 110k miles on it. I love the new design. Very comfortable to drive. Lots of great safety features. Disappointments are that I get 34 miles to the gallon now. And there are times that I wish it had more power. But it is an awesome car for my 30 mile commute. In spite of it being larger, when I needed to parallel park, it was easy using the backup camera. I landed 1 inch from the curb on both front and back. That was on the first try. Automatic high beams are terrific.

The lack of rear center armrest and cupholders is not a design flaw, just a budget decision to keep things at a set price with all the upgrades from the previous version, like the Civic.
The new version lacks the Magic seats because of the different platform design and location of the fuel tank from the previous version. And the AWD is slower than the FWD.
The 17" wheels/tires on the LX/EX-L look anemic and small in the wells.

    • @HoodSlappersOfficial
      @HoodSlappersOfficial  10 месяцев назад +1

Great points. That Magic Seat was pretty cool though. We have to move on though because there is still a lot of great things to remember about this new HR-V. Thanks for watching.

    • @jjacob25101
      @jjacob25101 8 месяцев назад

@HoodSlappersOfficial Yes, the Magic Seats I believe are still available on the Ridgeline, possibly, maybe even the CRV, but not sure, what was so convenient is if you were backed up to a wall, or parallel parking with another car close behind on the previous HR-V, you coukd easily load things in via either rear door. Especially bi yckes, potted plants, larger HDTVs and other tall objects.
But as you said, the new HR-V has so much going for it, and so much potential if Honda would go for it. That includes at least a Sport Touring version, with all the comparable equipment from the Civic Sport Touring Hatchback.
Notice that the rear of the center console has designed accommodations to install rear A/C vents and USB charging ports. A folding center armrest with cup holders for the rear seat is another simple upgrade.
The possibilities are endless, of corporate bean counters, marketing, their Honda Performance Division would get the approval to offer more exciting trim.leveks snd options, the HR-V could be incredible.
IMHO, the Civic EX Sedan, EX-L Hatchback and HR-V EX-L should remain configured with the standard 1.5L turbo engine, but upgrade the Civic Touring Sedan, Sport Touring Hatchback and the possible HR-V Sport Touring with the Si 200(222) horspower 1.5L turbo engine, like the Civic Si Sedan, and Acura Integra A-Spec Technology Package, with the CVT, or 6 speed manual versions with the LSD, also put the LSD on the Civic Sport Sedan/Hatchback and offer the same for the HRV Sport.
Then upgrade the Si and Integra A-Spec Technology Package with the detuned 2.0L turbo engine in the previous Accord Sport 2.0L.
I think an HR-V Type R as some mentioned, would be overkill, and detract from the Type R, but I would love it, if they made an HR-V Si with the detuned 2.0L turbo engine in both 6 Speed and Automatic with the conventional shifter, not the push button one like they had in the Accord Sport.
All the bells & whistles from the Sport Touring, Bose Stereo, performance dual exhaust, slightly lowered springs like the Eibach ones, front strut tower brace, and along with other suspension tweaks, that would be pretty much it.
But I would be happy with the planned modifications and add ons to the standard HR-V Sport. I just wish that they also had a 12 voltage outlet in the front.

Thanks for the question and the subscribe. First of all, you have a very lucky kid to be getting them a nice new car. Make sure they remember this in the future. The HRV and the Crosstrek are two great cars to consider. The Crosstrek has always been a great value and more often than not, can lease at a great price. The HRV, for this new body design, has raised their price, but with it has also raised their standards and did a really nice job. Personally, if you are looking for the right price point, Crosstrek. If you are looking for something that brings more to the vehicle but at a higher price, we would definitely say HRV. Both vehicles are Japanese engineered and it's hard to go wrong with that.

AR, great question. To be honest, both are great and you can’t go wrong with either brand. However, what we like about each is the fresh look and design on the HRV and the pure reliability of the Corolla Cross. At the time of those reviews, the Corolla Cross was a very long delay. So, if time is not on your side, the HRV would probably be a quicker purchase, but it’s also more expensive. Our one issue with the Corolla Cross is that, much like a Corolla, it’s kind of boring and plain.
All this to say, you’ll be happy with both. Do you want the fresher looking vehicle that comes with a higher price tag, or the cheaper vehicle that looks cheaper for a reason but is backed by a brand with a great track record? The agony of choice. ;)

Great video guys! I know I used salt to deal with the sluggish problem in my garden. It worked but is is a bit pricey so... 🤷‍♀
Honestly the HR-V is a great car if you are the target consumer. I had the sub-compact Chev Sonic and it was great right up until my daughter got too big for the back seat. The sub-compact SUV is a great option for anyone who doesn't have grown children. That fuel efficiency rivals that of any Hybrid in a larger vehicle. Perfect for getting to work and running errands, not so great if you want more than two adult sized people in them.
