- In this episode of MadRasana Duet, we feature Sriram Bala and Ganesh Bala Presenting the ragam Kaapi.
Presenting a Medley, seamlessly woven parts of 6 popular compositions in Raga Kaapi, in different gaits, spanning across languages Kannada, Telugu, Sanskrit, and Tamizh.
The 6 compositions are:
1. “Jagatho Dharana" (Composer: Sri Purandara Dasar)
2. “Intha Sowkyamanine” (Composer: Saint Thyagaraja)
3. “Janaki Ramana” (Composer: Sri VaNamaamalai Jeeyar Swami)
4. “Enna Thavam” (Composer: Papanasam Sivan)
5. “Poonguyil Koovum” (Composer: Kalki Sri Krishnamurthi)
6. “Chinnanjiru Kiliye” (Composer: Sri Subramanya Bharathi)

Sahitya bhava is regrettably absent despite the excellent raga bhava. If you can learn the kriti while being aware of its meaning (word by word), it would be a wonderful addition.

Good attempt to weave the pieces ,but loose pronunciation and rendition. why does the attire resemble a bathrobe,seems too causally taken and disrespectful felt like these things should be taken care of as it’s an audio visual presentation.wondering if Madrasana didn’t check before posting
Relax dude. They sing great and the attire is looking good for em. Don't be salty about everything.
Agree, you should respect talent. You couldn’t sing like that if you are lose about any aspect of carnatic music. Love the Bala boys 👍
Excellent performance
Which Pundit from the Mylapore Mafia sings the sahitya with perfect bhava and bhakti with exceptions like MS Amma, MLV, Bombay Jayasree etc.. No wonder why Yesudas BMK were all never allowed inside these sabhas

The clothing choices make what are doing look dystopian. Bathrobes, seriously?! Their singing, taken separately without video, is not bad. Above average in the world of young non-professional Carnatic singers. They've obviously worked at many things. Too bad the clothing choice takes so much away.
They chose the bathrobe to imply that they are going to present a shower of Kapi
i remember the scene from "the disciple" where the singer says "everything is part of performance when you are on stage". Next time dress properly and avoid idiotic choices of dressing
How is such good acoustics possible in such a garbage (acoustically speaking) environment? or is this voice-over after the fact?
Kannada pronunciation is terrible. Musicians if they want to sing in a different language should know or learn proper way. Very disappointed.
And their accent is also a bit westernized. They have an insta acct where they sing tamil film songs from the 90s. Not so pleasing to the ears if you've listened to the original.
