Sir, I want to thank you so much for all you do for the harsh vocal community. While I've never been financially able to do the EVI program, even just your videos have been absolutely instrumental in me being able to scream the way I do now. Any time I rip some vocals now people turn their heads. I'm at the point where I'm actually going back to school for upgrading, before ultimately going to school for music production specifically so I can produce all the music I've been writing these past two years since I started learning how to do these kinds of vocals. You have genuinely been a huge influence in me finding, or more specifically re-discovering my biggest passion in life: music. You have changed the course of my entire life honestly. Whether or not I become some huge successful musician doesn't matter to me, so long as I'm happier along the way. Thank you David.
@@Fenthule thank you so much for taking the time to share this. These types of comments are exactly why I love doing this. Looking forward to hearing where you go with everything!
Best vocal coach on youtube by far 🔥 i‘ve been teaching myself how to scream for like 2-3 years now only with videos and especially yours helped me improve so fast so i‘m very grateful you‘re teaching us all that for free ❤
Gonna watch this later but saw you posted it so wanted to drop a like and comment to boost you in the algorithm. You genuinely post fantastic content and I love ya man. Have a good day!
Thank you for this video. I have been watching you and practicing daily with your videos for over a year and my progress has been incredible. The last step is important, you must feel what you sing.
Hands down the best man, your videos have helped me improve so much as a vocalist. I would love to pick your brain more on helping me with more techniques if you’d ever be open to one on one time. Much love dude ❤️
🔥🔥🔥 you might not get a chance to read this, but your institute helped me achieve a dream. I became a metal vocalist (social arsonist) and I have toured in South America and in March I’ll be in Mexico. Thank you good sir 🤙🏻
Great to see another video! Love doing the alphabet and catch and release type of exercises to feel out the pressure and shape I need. It gets better over time! Love the advice about feeling the vibration and focusing it without pushing. It feels like lightening up makes the voice come through more.
Thanks for watching! The alphabet-type exercises can feel so silly but removing these types of vocals from the context of songs can do so much for taking the implied pressure off of how people expect the vocals should sound!
We have several warm up videos on this channel and videos about warming up! We also have several courses as part of our EVI Now program that dive into the how and why of a lot of the exercises you’ll see here. For more info: extremevocalinstitute.com/evi-now
As a drummer I dont work so much with scales, chords, etc the way a guitarist or pianist would but I do sing in my band so Im trying to learn theory as an intermediate singer. I want to take a classical or musical theory approach to heavy vocals the same way you would clean vocals. I can sing/ scream all the stuff I want to for the most part and am ready for the next step. I feel like I've gotten as far as I can on my own by singing to records and now I need to start paying for courses and lessons to truly understand the science and technique. My bassist is a Berklee trained singer and as a three piece band we all sing. So I find it a blessing working with him and have already learned a lot. I'd like to some what start getting on his level in terms of knowledge and technique about the human voice. If you could make practice videos with piano the way Jeff Rolka on RUclips does so you can follow that would be killer!
I've been practicing vocals for a few years now with a heavy focus on harsh vocals. I sing along to a lot of Metalcore and Deathcore style songs. The most improvement I've seen is from focusing on my clean agility and accuracy. Could you maybe try a video that talks about clean practice for harsh vocals? If it's necessary at all? Maybe something that covers the fry singing as well, like Chester Bennington style? I'd be curious to see if there are better and more efficient ways to train my voice since I basically exclusive practice while driving .
Thank you David! Would love to talk to any other autistic viewers & bedroom/garage singers who are trying to unlock the whole body connection thing talked about around 18:50 onwards. The actual mechanics of screaming are pretty easy for me after years of practice, but doing it in front of people or involving any of the non-vocal parts of my body is difficult AF after decades of being forced not to fidget/make noises!
I love this series.. I’m working on these exercises but still having trouble with my high frys. Any one got some pointers to help hit the highs easier?
can’t feel relaxed hitting a high I feel like I’m too tense with out trying to be and don’t know how to Adjust while being relaxed after hitting the fry
They need guys like you teaching in high schools. Lots of youngens hurt themselves early on and it wrecks their confidence moving forward. Great lesson.
I dig the pointers about how to hone in on distortion. I’ve been trying to make my false cords last longer-I’m like a 2second guy right now.. 😂😂 STORY OF MY LIFE RIGHT
Can you please make a video or short on how to scream like the woman from iwreastledabearonce. But the first 2 albums with the original singer. I’ve tried to replicate it but idk how she does it.
One of the craziest memories I have of you is the treaty of territory tour with nine kills and motionless and white and BVB and it was in Kansas, I saw you before you came out for slaughterhouse, and we both made eye contact, and all you did was whisper at me and said “shhhh🤫” and smiled at me 😂 and then you came out and absolute destroyed. Best thing ever teacher.😂
Wow, I’ve only been practicing for about a year and I can already out scream the shit out of you. But I’ve also been a singer for 30 years. Actually watching this just made me so happy because I know I don’t totally suck ass now. I can do all of that shit with ease man. I’ve just been copying this artist named Kim Dracula. And listening to his chaotic screams has taught me some other cool techniques too ;)
I have really been trying to learn for many years, but I cannot physically understand how to do the distortion, I studied singing and I know how to control my voice but this frustrates me a lot because I have never been able to do it...
I’ve been doing vocals for over 2 years now but every time I do false chords for more than 10 minutes my voice physically cannot do frys, but there is no pain or over pushing on my false chords. I’m stuck and I just need some advice
There's definitely something to be said about the raw authenticity and I don't discourage my clients and students from tapping into that but in order to replicate these vocals night in and night out without wrecking yourself having a good foundation is important. That way you can safely push the boundaries when you need to but also know how to back off
@@GoddaryuTUBE we won’t and here’s why: it’s very common for people to tense up when using these kinds of vocals. The camera switching to that angle is to show viewers that it’s not happening. There are no veins popping out of David’s neck when he vocalizes and to give viewers a different angle of the shaping that he’s using - Rilee (co-owner)
A new video? Advanced?! Walkthroughs?!?!? YESSIR!!

your videos have been instrumental in developing my false chords in a healthy manageable fashion. I talk about you to anyone I know who sings 🙏

Hi
Can you teach how to sing like Landon Tewers from The Plot in You?
I really like his voice and want to learn how to do that

Hey David, do you have any tips for low fry screams?
Can you do a how to scream like ERRA for both JT and Jesse?
I'm gonna come back and watch this next year
Whenever you're ready it'll be here! Thanks for the algorithmic boost 💥📈

me!!!? a fucking advanced screamer 🤣🤣🤣
Why not?!
So funny to think of where this vocal style started to where it's at now

@ExtremeVocalInstitute it's cool, I'm all for it, i just find it amusing to think about. I love where it's at and I love your work too!
