  • Born in Ethiopia, Yoseph Ayele was kicked out of the United States because his Harvard degree and entrepreneurial work did not satisfy US immigration requirements. He moved to New Zealand to design the Global Impact Visa - the first immigration policy in the world to select people on their potential to create a positive impact in society. This visa is run by the Edmund Hillary Fellowship (www.ehf.org) in a new model for taking a human-centric and entrepreneurial approach to doing immigration in the 21st century.
Yoseph is co-founder and CEO of the Edmund Hillary Fellowship, a community of exceptional entrepreneurs and investors who are solving complex global problems from New Zealand. EHF is implementing the Global Impact Visa - the most entrepreneur-friendly visa in the world and the first to focus on impact.
Born in Ethiopia, Yoseph has lived in six countries across four continents. Before moving to New Zealand, he helped grow Inflection, a successful technology startup in Silicon Valley. He studied entrepreneurship, leadership and social change at Harvard, Cambridge, and Victoria University of Wellington. He is passionate about regenerative agriculture, building cultural bridges, and community. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Securing a job after the graduation is not enough for a work visa. The company should have secured you for a work visa. US immigration did right. Hard to agree to you for the matter.
For EHF, the vision is easy to tell, but hard to make it work. Some Kiwis say it’s a new version of exploiting Visa. I want to know what it has achieved and what the fellows have done, comparing to that of Finland or others.

I don't think he was expecting that much from America, I think he thought he had something to offer America, like open minded compassion

I dont think he has forgot about his homeland, none of us ever do, the task at hand is to build momentum from an amazing incubator for innovation like NZ then work our way out to the rest of the world.

@@davidtippett912 The compassion to offer to US? Not enough since the immigration is not allowed by those philosophy.

When you open the gates of immigration massively to people with very distinct different cultures you're paving the ground for incredible conflict!

I believe that it really takes an open mind and an open minded attitude to learn the truth about the world.
And the truth is that to have an opinion like mine you have to be open minded because I've taken certain opinions that aren't necessarily popular, but I believe them to be true.
And when someone like you hears these opinions you resort to ad hominem attacks on my character (and I think this says a lot about your character).
You see, I've always believed that we've got to be open minded about everything including the race issues (that I always talk about).
And I'm asking you to be opened minded. And a truly open minded person wants to get both sides of every question.

You could say that about anything - even the most destructive paths a man could take.
And massive immigration is obviously destroying White people!
Furthermore, it's racism when you promote massive immigration that destroys people or programs and polices that literally will wipe a people off the earth. That's genocide! And that's racism!

Referring to your initial comment - Maybe, but where did you understand that this is about "massive immigration"? It is about a small group of skilled people which want to create a global impact, not about "massive" immigration
