Yes Ísland is the Icelandic name for Iceland but it doesn't annoy us that others call it Iceland, we also have Icelandic names for other countries :) btw Britain in Icelandic is Bretland
I just commented that In Farsi aka Persian we pronounce Iceland as Eesland and we write it ایسلند . So I guess we have a very accurate pronunciation of it !!
I've been watching you guys for years and really enjoy your videos. My husband always asks when we are going to get one of your boxes so I ordered one for his birthday. It just came a few days ago and we have been enjoying a treat each night and will continue to do so until his birthday. So fun and I can't wait to try another.
The Icelandic name _Ísland_ has the same meaning as the English name: _ís_ is ‘ice’ and _land_ is ‘country, land’. So the English name is technically a calque. The English word that happens to be spelt _island_ in English, on the other hand, has nothing to do with ice or Iceland - the s in that word has never been pronounced and wasn’t there at all historically. It used to be written _iland_ or _yland_ in Middle English, and in Old English it was _īeg̍land._ That’s a compound of _īeg_ (which meant ‘island’ by itself originally) and _land,_ so it’s really ‘island-land’. The reason it got an s eventually is that it looks so similar to _isle._ The resemblance is coincidental, though - _isle_ was borrowed from French (written _île_ in Modern French) and comes from Latin _insula._ So yeah, _isle, island, Ísland_ and _Iceland_ are a bit confusing, but it all fits together somehow.
I use to love the Brach's Bridge mix. It was a mix is a type of snack mix or candy consisting of nuts, fruits, and "cremes" covered in chocolate. Some common ingredients in bridge mix include peanuts, raisins, macadamia nuts, jujubes, malt, fruits, nougat, and licorice. I love that you could a few different items and mix it up a bit.
When I lived in USA Ann 1996 I loved Brachs bridge mix and the chocolate covered jellies were my favourite. I read that they have discontinued the chocolate jellies such a shame.
@@maureenbrown6610 I'm not sure as they made many changes to them. I haven't bought any in years. I see the package once in a while, I pick it, and then put it down. LOL I know they are not as good as they once were.
Here I'm sitting, muching on the heavenly goodies you sent to me💖😋 thank you again😍 Ís means ice, so Ísland=Iceland. Jarðarber are strawberries, hindber are raspberries. The blue fronted kókómjólk is with less sugar. Stjörnupopp=star popcorn. I will keep on as I watch, I was too eager to send you the boxes to explain everything😂🤣
Yaaay! So glad you finally got our box back to you! Hope you are enjoying trying everything! Thank you for the notes. It's really great to have our questions answered!
Wendy’s frosty is a big part of my childhood. ☺️ Definitely dipped the fries in it. I was a cheerleader in high school and after games we would go to McDonald’s. We all dipped our fries in their sweet and sour sauce. That’s a game changer too.
Oh yes Kate, I knew about the zip lock bags😉😄 and I have never seen those 6L bags before, they are enormous, and I use them so much. I loved this video, thanks and lots of love, Rebekka.
Yaaay thank you so much Rebekka. I thought you might have but i didn't want to assume! Thank you so much for adding them in for me. So glad you enjoyed watching
Oh my gosh! Those ziplocks!! Those colors! Sigh 😍 love those! You’re gonna crack up at the ziplocks I’ve got in this box for you guys! Cause I lost it when I found them 🤣 and I’m glad the box got pushed, because I found a couple more things to add in that I haven’t seen before! And such a great rest of the box! The teas 🥰🥰🥰 I looove a good tea. Brent and I love to sit and brew some lose leaf tea while we have good chats. Love all the wonderful stuff that Rebecca sent! Hoping you all are doing okay. Been thinking of all of you loads. The kiddos and Brent were so sad to hear about your precious Bob. He’s in all our hearts. But still hope you’re doing as good as you can be going through the motions of it all. Sending extra hugs and loves all around. Have such a beautiful weekend and upcoming week ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
Wendy' is a frosty. The first time I had soft serve ice cream it came from Dairy Queen. That is the only kind of ice cream they sold. Next time you come to the USA look for a Dairy Queen.
Ahh yes!!!! That was it, a frosty!! Oh my word! I am so excited to one day try Dairy Queen! I watch them make them on TikTok! Can't believe we've never had one before
I wonder if there's a licorice gene. I adore the stuff. Bought a dark chocolate salted licorice bar not too long back and it was divine. A friend told me it was the stuff of her nightmares. LOL.
Hindber is Raspberry (in German Himbeere) and we call Iceland also Island in German not the direct translation Eisland (as in English Iceland), for whatever reason ;-)
Hey Kate and Alex missed you guys I been such a busy 🐝 but I have finally caught up with the missed videos that I couldn’t watch hope you all have a fantastic weekend love you guys 🥰❤️💞💗❣️
2:06 It's a different language. Look at like this. Germany in German is Deutschland, but no one who doesn't speak German calls it that. The Philippines in Tagalog is Ang Pilipinas, but no one who doesn't speak Tagalog would call it that. If you don't speak the language, you aren't expected to say the name of the country in their native language. 4:48 Wendy's Frosty! That means it's probably malted milk, because Wendy's Frosty's are frozen malted milk
I understand why people don't like licorice but I love it. I have never had chocolate covered licorice and I'm not even sure it's sold in America. At least, I've never seen it. Have a good one.

I quit having Wendy’s Frosty when I found out it has a form of plastic in it the USA allows. That’s why it doesn’t melt. You both look great ! 😊. What a nice, thoughtful and interesting box. Your a lucky bunch lol 😂. Gifts 🎁 and great new foods/ candies yummy 😋
we have tried some in a video before but would be awesome to try more one day!! Think we have a couple videos you could check out if you haven't seen them
