I worked at Cracker Barrel for 11 years and we add 5 cups of sugar to the tea 🤣. This is how I make my southern sweet tea. Boil 3 family size bags of Luizianne iced tea in 2 cups of water on the stove. Remove from heat when it comes to a full boil. In a 2 gallon pitcher add 2 cups of granulated sugar and then pour the hot tea water over the sugar. Don’t squeeze the tea bags too much or it will be bitter. Fill up the pitcher with water, stir well to dissolve sugar and allow to cool in the fridge.
As far as the tea, we dump loads of sugar in while it’s still warm. I used to dump extra in when I worked at Raising Canes as far the bathroom spray, we have a brand in America called Poo Pouri and I absolutely love it! It eliminates the smell completely!
I bought an iced tea jug that has a built-in steeper and use it to cold brew my tea overnight. Before I pour a glass, I'll put 1-2 tsp. of honey in and warm it up slightly in the microwave so that it becomes thinner. Then, I slowly pour the iced tea in and stir so that the honey and tea combine. It always comes out perfectly!
12:33 the toy was "weeble wobbles", their catch phrase was "weebles wobble, but they don't fall down." Glad to see you all back! 2022 is off to a bad start for me, so it's nice to have little enjoyable moments. Also, thank you for the alternate way to inquire about sending boxes.
@@chrisharris7931 Simple syrup is just predissolved sugar. Half and half sugar and water simmered until reduced. If you ARE going to brew it cold or at room temp, that's the way to go.
Glad to have y’all back. Alex’s chair is a wobble chair. They are frequently used in classrooms for fidgety kids. 😁 Being from Georgia, we brew the tea and then add various measurements of granular sugar in the tea. My family, growing would put anywhere from 1 cup to 1 1/2 cup of sugar to a full gallon of unsweetened tea while it’s still warm. We then chill in the refrigerator and then when you are ready to drink, fill a glass with ice and pour it up! Enjoy!
I was walking around Walgreens wondering and came across a whatchamacallit and a Whozeewhatsit. I picked up one of each and we tried them yesterday and today. I hadn’t had a whatchamacallit for years. It was okay. I thought they both tasted a little cheaper than I remembered. We are getting use to better chocolate, so the standard American chocolate isn’t really something I like anymore. We do like to follow along and try stuff you all are sent, but we didn’t even notice. Thanks!
Native Texan here. As a child our iced tea was sweetened with (white) granulated pure cane sugar. That being said, I have enjoyed (light) brown sugar sweetened tea with lemon. It's great on a 100 F+ summer day here abouts. Most food joints fast/fast casual/sit down use corn syrup as a sweetner. When they actually use sugar, it is usually noted as a PR come-on..."Our tea sweetened with real sugar!" Glad you are back with new content. Happy Lunar New Year as well...Cheers K&A!
Welcome back ! We missed you . Alex, congrats on your new stool and Kate , your hair looks great. On the issue of the tea , growing up in Pennsylvania we always sweetened the hot tea with sugar , to taste, and then when it was cool we just poured it over ice. The amount depends on the person , we just had to deal with however sweet our mom made it lol . Now as an adult i like it sweet but not too sweet . Just play around with it , see what works best for you .
Hey Lainie!! We missed you too!! So nice being back again. Haha he loves his new stool! Thank you 🥰 Thank you for the help with the tea! Definitely going to have a bit of a play!! Love that - We just had to deal with however sweet our mom made it 😂
@@ThisWithThem I'm not a fan, but I'm from the deep south of the USA. Here, they definitely steep it hot and add sugar before it cools down to avoid the granular texture. If you wanted to get out of tea-making duty as a child, you didn't add enough sugar for your mom's liking. 😂
I'm so glad y'all are back! This year started off horribly, my mom got covid around Thanksgiving and was so so sick for months it's just the last few weeks that she has recovered at all. She's doing better now but still not back to 100% so its nice to have your vids to look forward to.
My mom also always adds the sugar while it's hot after boiling! Then puts in fridge then adds ice and it's delicious! She also boils several tea bags in a pitcher so it's potent! 🥰

I didn't think Id ever see them again, those "From Concentrate" juices are belong in the 90s in my mind. So I know it makes no sense, but even though it says "From Concentrate" what it means is it is concentrated and you need to dilute it with water. Thats why theyre so thick and syrupy.
Kate and Alex when you are making sweet tea you do it to how sweet you want it. I personally do not drink iced sweet tea. I only prefer my hot tea to be sweetened and then I use honey to sweeten my tea because it's already liquid so I don't get any gritty texture at the end from undissolved sugar.
I don't like sweet tea, but my ex-husband loved it. He was born in Oklahoma and raised in Texas. My mom brews me a pitcher of iced tea every few days because it's so 🔥🥵 here in the summer. We use 6 bags decaffeinated black tea and 2 bags of Jasmine tea (the size for individual cups) in a microwaveable teapot and let it steep before pouring into the pitcher with at least 2 ice cubes trays worth of ice. The black tea gets a little bitter in large amounts and it took us about a year to figure out the right balance. It's perfect for me after working in a hot mailroom all day and going to the gym.🐈⬛🐾🐈⬛🐾 I came across your channel via Men Try Videos which live about an hour away from me!!!
Hi Kate and Alex! Welcome back? Good to see you both. This is a great start to this year. I am looking forward to all the different treats you have to show us. Have a great week.
In the southern states in America, regular white sugar is usually added to brewed tea while it is still hot so that the sugar dissolves. Then it is chilled and served with ice.
Growing up in Texas when you boil your tea for sweet tea you use 6 tea bags in a medium pot and then add your sugar to the pot while the water is still hot enough to melt it. Then pour that into a 1 gallon container and fill the rest with water so that the tea is not to strong or sweet. Hope that made sense.
You can make your own simple syrup with equal parts white sugar and water. You just dissolve the sugar in the water. But sweet tea is made with white sugar so it doesn't dilute the tea by adding simple syrup.
We make sweet tea by stirring in granulated sugar while the tea is hot and stir to dissolve. I buy the Duke Cannon bars for my Dad and they suds great, smell so good and bar lasts for ever.
Terribly missed you, Kate & Alex! I'd usually watch your videos during meal time (breakfast or lunch or dinner), because it makes me enjoy my meals better! For Iced Tea we generally just use sugar and put it in before the tea cools down. When making Iced Tea (Sweet tea) you're still meant to steep it with hot water and then you'd immediately add a bunch of sugar if you're doing it at home. You can do Simple Syrup but its basically the same thing. Then just stick it in the Fridge and get it when its cool. The amount of sugar can vary a lot depending on who is making it, if in doubt, add a bit more.

Yes, we just add our sugar first & then we pour our HOT tea water over the sugar & then stir it up until the sugar has dissolved then pour in the rest of our cold water. Just dissolve ur sugar then u don't need simple sugar or syrups. I also add one or 2 flavored tea bags like peach 🍑 or whatever u want. Let them steep for however strong u want ur tea. Then pour over ice & garnish with fruit. 🥤🍋🍊🍓🥝😋

Hey hey, welcome back! Good seeing ya! (Looks around) I don't see a "form down below" as mentioned in the intro and again at the end. Am I missing something?
Welcome back Kate and Alex! The sweet tea I've had has either pure cane sugar (Gold Peak, my absolute favorite!) or white granulated sugar. Cane sugar comes specifically from pure sugar cane whereas granulated sugar can come from either sugar cane or sugar beets. There really isn't much of a difference. Hope that helps. I think as the tea sits in the fridge it may taste stronger. Glad you are back!! Hugs from Lancaster,Pa. 😘💓😘💓

We sweeten our sweet tea with sugar, when the water is still hot. Then you chill after sweetening.
Nice to you see both again. Was wondering what happened to you. So glad to see you both healthy, happy, and refreshed! Happy New Year from the Rogue Valley area in beautiful Southern Oregon!! Keep the videos coming!
Thank you Debbie!
Ahhh i see! Yes that does help a lot. Thank you 🥰
