Hope it comes soon. I’ve had one in a box unused from March 2nd from John Lewis. I was weighing up whether to keep it and all the Amazon bolt on bits as it was all heading towards £2k. Other option was an XT 5 and the 23mm F1.4 but it’s much bigger, heavier and about £2.5k. I’ve got lots of top Canon SLR kit and so moving full on into Fuji mirrorless and lenses didn’t make sense. The X100VI is now off on a tour of China in a few weeks and will be far more discrete in public. I’ll take a Canon M5 and a few Canon M lenses as a supplement for rural, rivers, mountains etc. Given we have to cart cases and backpacks around for 2.5 weeks, small and light makes more sense.
Fuji Reala (Reeeaala!) was a 100ASA film that produced great greens and was widely available 20 years ago. It is such a shame that it is all but forgotten these days. Interesting that Fujifilm have revived the name in the X100VI...
@@gabrielbailey802 I have some Reala in 120 format in the freezer, I always loved the look. This latest film simulation makes me want to try the X100VI !
@@simondifazio4089glad you raised the pronunciation bit……like you I shot on MF with roll. Took loads to India and West Coast USA. Nice video, and photos! Looks like a vibe I could commit to. My favourite has become Nostalgic Neg actually. Looking forward to the forthcoming update bringing Reala Ace to X-T5.
Thanks for your video and insight into Reala Ace, which I hope will come to my X-H2 soon. Being an older guy, I grew up shooting negative and then slide/positive films as an enthusiast. Reala wasn't only available in Japan. It was released in Canada and the US, roughly somewhere in the 1980's, so probably also Europe the same time. I remember their promotions when it was released. It was called Reala rather than Reala Ace. It was a bit more expensive that fuji's standard Fujicolor negative film but it was sold widely and it wasn't just for professionals. It was known for better colour overall (including skin tones) and softer shadows. Superia didn't exist until many years later.
Thank you, the video I was waiting for. Really loved the tones of this simulation. Looking forward to the firmware update that brings Reala Ace to the X-S20.
@@gabrielbailey802 Definitely! It seems Fuji announced at the X summit this year that they will bring it to the X-H2s, X-H2, X-T5, and X-S20 during this spring. Fingers crossed it will actually happen🙂
All black clothes, a triban road bike, and an x100vi. The absolute basic bitch of photography, just like me 😆 (still waiting for the x100vi though) great video, and great pics!
Just the Reala ace film sim, some of them, I'd adjust exposure and contrast. Some of them I'd also underexpose in camera, which I feel makes this film sim shine!
4:06 not everyone has the ability to do that. More important I think is that film doesn't look like anything. It looks like a million different things and variables 🙂 I'm saving this vid to my photowalk inspiration playlist! Love the light in those shots towards the mid-end.
thank you, I appreciate that! it's the Haoge lens hood from Amazon. It doesn't sit 100% flush, but fits well enough, does the job, protects the lens and looks great!
Are these shots direct from the camera, or edited from RAW using Reala Ace from the photo editor? And if they are SOOC JPGs, are they with the default settings or some kind of recipe?
Nice video mate! I watched it a few weeks ago and I liked it very much. Today I was going to the supermarket and I think I saw you on the other side of the road 😂 I came back here to check it was actually you and I think it was 😅. Keep it up! 💪
He gets some pretty smooth video from that Sony.. some good attention to detail.. swaps up the angles too and keeps the tones all consistent.. pretty hard in the wild.. I tip my hat for the effort
Do you find it helpful shooting the JPEG film sims + raw or does that feel like a more fiddly work flow and less enjoyable? I’ve had x100vi only one day and trying to decide how to approach this
Good question! I feel like I go for JPEG first, then I have the RAW there so if something needs to be tweaked I can do it. Then I can get best of both worlds without stressing too much, and getting the benefit of those juicy JPEG’s
I tried the sim today but my photo colours and contrast do not look like your examples, i'm shooting on an xt5, did you create a recipe using this sim that you don't mind sharing? or is this literally just straight reala ace? Thanks!
This was straight out of camera, I feel like the lighting was really important and I slightly underexposed to get better contrast on many of the images
