    That "always on" lume formula is super cool. hoping Seiko do more watches with it.

    I think it’s a DLC coating but not sure, I like your pointing stick ha ha first time I’ve seen one on a watch review (and I’ve watched and hundreds of watch reviews!) it’s great, rather than just explaining you can actually point 😉👉🏻

    I think this one divides opinion. I really like it but recently picked up the blue colourway of the Zodiac Olympos for a crazy low price but still couldn't justify both. In the UK and Europe I'm seeing the price of these dropping. In the UK I've seen a few places offering 30% off and in Europe (where the price is a little higher due to conversion rate) it can be up to 40% off. If people are interested in this one shop around or gamble and wait until just before or just after Christmas as I can see this one going for crazy money.

    Needs a solid caseback and shorter lug-to-lug. Otherwise, very nice.

    Really wish this was all bead blasted for a more matte finish overall.

    I really like this watch, but "split pins" on a watch this price would NOT be my first choice. Yes, it is easier to resize but those pins are going to loosen over time and slip. Post and sleeve would have been much more price accurate and appropriate. It is confusing though, I've resized Seiko Presages ~$500 that have post and sleeve. That's just Seiko for you I guess

    Really like the look of this Alpinist. However, I don't know why they don't change the inner rotating bezel to either a 60 minute or 12 hour bezel, something that we'll likely use. The other thing that irks me, is the crystal on the back. I love display case backs but why would you want a massive printed logo and text to cover everything? They already have Seiko on the rota, so they don't need more Seiko branding! Plus, why even bother with the smoked effect on the crystal, which further makes the movement less visible. Seiko with their idiotic decisions as always.

      The Alpinist originally was a mountaineers/explorers watch. the compass bezel is there to tie into that aesthetic. if you want a 60 minute timing bezel go buy a dive watch. if you want a 12 hour bezel go buy a GMT

    • @WLVFX
      @WLVFX 10 месяцев назад

      @@jacobt1027 What I want is this style of dial/watch with an inner rotating bezel that's either a 60-minute or 12-hour. It's because it'll have a unique look compared to a dive watch or GMT watch.

    All these night vision Seiko's end up heavily discounted.. can't think why..🤔 definitely an acquired taste..

      All black watches are a niche market to say the least. If it’s not DLC or Cerakote the finish will wear off quickly.

    • @Daniel-bv2wc
      @Daniel-bv2wc 10 месяцев назад

      @@Bob_Smith19 yeah I was hinting at that.. one scratch or mark and the watch is devalued. Plus it's quite a harsh modern look only suitable for some pieces.. the alpinist is already an over rated carbuncle in my opinion so coating it in black is not an improvement.

      No, only Rolex owners on Reddit do so. They also do it before taking driving shots in their cars.

    I don't know what this infatuation is with you and automatics, but I hope you get over it some day. Solars keep time better and are less expensive to boot. Two thumbs waayyy down 👎 on this one.

    • @RpMcMurphy_
      @RpMcMurphy_ 10 месяцев назад +1

      Is there a solar alpinist similar to this auto?

    • @WatchesBeAwesome
      @WatchesBeAwesome 10 месяцев назад +6

      You can enjoy both. I have 7 or 8 solar watches, and another 8 automatic watches.

    • @renngretsch
      @renngretsch 10 месяцев назад +1

      No sweeping seconds hand with any solar watches I am aware of, and with a lot of quartz watches the seconds hand does not hit all the markers.

    • @Bob_Smith19
      @Bob_Smith19 10 месяцев назад +7

      Do you realize most watch enthusiasts prefer automatics? Don’t get me wrong, I prefer quartz for accuracy. But I have a large collection that has all sorts of movements. Automatics are going to hold value unlike quartz.

    • @melissasmess2773
      @melissasmess2773 10 месяцев назад +2

      The point is to have a watch that’s classic, OG and doesn’t require a battery has a beautiful living spring powered engine. Most of my collection are automatic but an inexpensive G-Shock is useful for setting the time when switching watches. Finding a well regulated automatic is half the fun, quartz watches are accurate,
      boring, always running 😂
