Biography:
Elden Jerome Campbell (born July 23, 1968 in Los Angeles, California) is a retired American professional basketball player who played center in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Campbell attended Morningside High School in Inglewood, California before playing college basketball at Clemson University. During his four years at Clemson, he averaged 15.3 points per game, 6.8 rebounds per game and 2.7 blocks. His college team was involved in one of the most notable plays in college basketball history - a one-point loss in the 1990 NCAA Tournament to a Connecticut team following a miraculous full-court catch-and-shoot play by Tate George with one second on the clock. That same year, the Los Angeles Lakers drafted Campbell with the 27th pick in the 1990 NBA Draft. On March 10, 1999, Campbell was traded by the Lakers along with Eddie Jones to the Charlotte Hornets for Glen Rice, J.R. Reid and B.J. Armstrong. His longest tenures were with the Lakers and the Hornets (in Charlotte and New Orleans); he would also play with the Seattle SuperSonics and briefly for the New Jersey Nets, spending most of the final two seasons of his career as a member of the Detroit Pistons, being on roster in the 2004 NBA Championship team. During his tenure with the Pistons, perhaps his most important contribution was playing excellent defense on star center Shaquille O'Neal in the two playoff series in which the Pistons engaged O'Neal's teams (the Lakers in the 2004 finals, the Miami Heat in the 2005 NBA Eastern Conference Finals); because of his enormous bulk and strength, he presented a unique challenge to O'Neal in the low post and was one of the few NBA players who could pose a serious physical challenge to O'Neal on defense. His 15-year career comprised 1,044 games, of which he started 671, and 106 playoff games, of which he started 53. In 15 seasons, Campbell averaged 10.3 points per game, 5.9 rebounds per game and 1.5 blocks. He is especially known for his shot-blocking ability, with 1,602 career blocks. Notably, Campbell is the Los Angeles Lakers' leading scorer for the decade of 1990-1999
Teams:
Los Angeles Lakers (1990--1999)
Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets (1999--2003)
Seattle SuperSonics (2003)
Detroit Pistons (2003--2005)
New Jersey Nets (2005)
First Mix about him on RUclips
such an underrated player
I'm glad someone paid a tribute, him and Van Exel, worthy and Scott is all we had when magic retired. Always played hard.
One of my favorite players to use on NBA Live 97.. I still remember.. on ps1
People forget how good easy E was! Especially his run with the Lakers. Double digit scorer good post defender! The 96 season when magic came back was fun man!
I REMEMBER HIM WENT TO HIS GRAND PARNETS CHURCH IN 97/98 GREAT DAY... OG STATUS.. UNSUNG FORGOTEN SOLID PLAYER
ONE of the greatest mixes ever on an underrated Center!! Elden Campbell was one of the greatest ever!!!
@Kings Will Soon Rise but look at his lakers numbers he was the star ok the lakers were weak in the mid90s
His early years when he was lighter he was a monster. I loved matching him watching him come off the bench and dunk all over unexpected big men.then i think he got too buff and it slowed him down.it also took some of his agility. Still miss watching him.cool dude
Yeh, I think he did get too big. He definitely wasn't as agile when he got really big.
Still my favorite Lakers.
Elden was a humble Beast.
One of my favorite Lakers from back in the day Before there was Leonard there was Elden Campbell one of the chillest players to ever play
Easy E
One of my favorite Laker team,no stars still a lot of fun to watch
I’m a Campbell and I’ve played basketball 🏀 for 2 years
favorite one was when he intercepted that half court pass and dunked on Mutombo left handed @1:23
Thanks for the video.Very underrated player.definitely deserves more recognition!
He would’ve done well under Phil Jackson. Likely reduced scoring role, but relied upon to defend and hit a 15 footer.
He was the best I’ve seen against Charles Barkley. Did well against many marquee centers as well
beautiful mix my friend :). Elden deserve this...
Elden Campbell and Bill Lambeer are my favorite centers of all time!!!!
Campbell should have been a superstar. just loved his style of play.
Loved E. I wore number 41 because of him. Wish I could find a clip of a dunk he had against Milwaukee IIRC that was NASTY. Thanks for the great mix.
He would have dominated the 2020s NBA
great mix, a stroll down memory lane to my favorite era of NBA
No other team in the NBA passes the ball with more style and skill than the LOS ANGELES LAKERS. Period.
NICE MIX MUCH APPRECIATED I THINK THIS THE FIRST ELDEN CAMBELL MIX ON RUclips
Elden Campbell was such a frustrating player to watch. One day he would be outplaying Shawn Kemp, but on another day he would lack focus and play average. It's really a shame that he could not gel with Shaq. They could've made an awesome big man duo. Nonetheless, for his career, Elden was a solid big man and good defensive anchor.
dzieki Misiek to piekne czasy milo powspominac! pozdrowionko i wesolych swiat!
NBA all-time block list kemp is 48th campbell 28th
@TheKingMisiek Nice mix he's an old work horse that was around for a while...You should do Terry Porter.
keep going make mix's of people who deserved this
Campbell was a great player. I preferred seeing him and Nique go at each other rather than Nique and Jordan.
@BIGGIEBOY26 yes it is , many my mixes are first on youtube and whole net :) ...
@TheKingMisiek YEAH I NOTICED ON MOST OF MY SEARCHES....APPRECIATE EM MORE THAN U KNOW THANKS
monta ellis can you do him or stephan curry. i know there young but.
Gentle beast version of Anthony Davis
Great job man!
@radiobasket
przylaczam sie do pozdrowien, az sie wzruszylem. dzieki. super dobor muzyki
Nah
I Thank You For This
You were a good player elden
He's basically Tim Duncan without the minutes played
Tim Duncan without the superstar mentality and aggression. Campbell could have been a great player but he just never did have the mentality to be great.
@@doctorx1924 yea i agree. he didn't really have the dog in him
Eldem improved every year until Shaq got there.
Rashad McQueen he kept improving after Shaq got there. His career high in points came in Sgaq's first year with Lakers.
wish he could brought his superman game when he and Shaq were on the floor together.
@@jcrhea001 Shaq got hurt during his first year with the Lakers which allowed Elden to have a career year. If Shaq didn't get hurt his numbers would have dropped the first year there but after Shaq's first year Elden' numbers declined rapidly.
Could've been as good if not better than Shawn Kemp if not for his inconsistency.
@MrSlik25 soon ....
Shaq took his place and he slowly faded.
Same for Eddie Jones. Kobe came in and Eddie had to go.
I think they got rid of him to clear up cap space for Glen Rice? Wish he and Eddie stayed for the championship run. They would’ve both fit in because they both can defend well
@edwinb155 maybe, but Eddie was a superstar for himself first, and 2nd place just wasn't for him, I think. Campbell was decent, but nowhere near to Shaq.
