I actually have all but a few Molten Tigrex parts to make the Glaive. I killed about 140? Or so Seregios overall, mostly because the gems were being mean to me at the end (Desire Sensor™)

i dont know if mhxx is different, but here, sergios insect glaive is beast when combined with aerial style. at first i dont know that the weapon have a passive that only included in the vanilla text, but when hunting with it i notice it just sharpen my weapon everytime i do aerial jump. its my favorite weapon ever since
The IG from Seregios honestly is one of my favorite IGs from my collection. The attack is not bad, and the special effect helps me stay in blue (although white is better). I would say you should roll in combat but when out of combat grab a whetstone. I just love that weapon.
Can you do a video explaining how forging/armor skills/elements and game mechanics works for us new to the series? Like when you apologized for the color on the HH because you "extreme forged" it, I'm lost. :( I'm excited to play the game but overwhelmed at all the jargon people are using on Reddit! I'm sure there'll be ingame dialogue explaining it all but I feel like you making a video on it would be way more informative for me and everyone else getting into the series. Please consider it, and thanks for all the videos. I've watched every single one in preparation for MH4.
I'm surprised the SA didn't get more of a positive review. That fact that the A > X combo gives you three hits but only costs 2 for the sake of sharpness. So you get 5 sets of combos that count for 15 hits before the sharpness drops down! Bang for your buck ya know!
Just made the HR Hammer to destroy Black Gravios' belly like in old MHFU times and then I realised the scales only raise when you use the G rank version :(

I just hunted my first Seregios in 4U's caravan story and I wanted to understand what that yellow outline on the weapons are. I'm late to the 4U party but this is truly helpful. Thanks as always, Gaijin
Been using it with GS and it seems to complement it just perfectly, especially if you're not using Crit Draw+Quick Sheathe and therefore not sheathing as often. I would say that if you're using GS, Seregios is a must have weapon.
It's worth mentioning that there may be better options for Switch-Axe come G-rank, but when you first get access to it in solo play high rank (no gathering hall missions) that weapon is an absolutely monster. It has over 900 attack with a power phial and at least has the option of white sharpness, even if it's tiny. The closest SA I've been able to make up to that point is from Rathian, which only has 864 and a poison phial. The next step down is 810 with either poison or dragon phials. The closest power phials are still in the 760 range. Most of these are still only green sharp or maybe 20-40 blue, so reaching white even for a sliver is amazing for that stage of the game unless you've had some stupid good luck with relic weapons from expeditions.
I'd seen the horn and wanted it, but now I definitely want that LBG too. I need to rank up and farm (and should probably stop watch your videos while I work :P). Thanks for all the useful videos, helps a lot for a newer player like myself.
Great explanation for the Seregios weapons and armor sets, personally I'm really looking forward to making the Lance, Hunting horn, and Bow! However, I'm curious about what armor set or mixed armor set you'd recommend for the Seregios bow, as it doesn't seem as though the Seregios gunner armor compliments the bow.

5 years later, but anyone else curious passing by, the Chaotic Gore Magala weapons also have a unique feature. They have both negative and positive affinity, but when you get inflicted by frenzy and manages to suppress it, the negative affinity becomes positive and is added to the positive. With this you have goofy stuff like a 65% affinity GS without even needing the Expert skill.
They do try to give certain monsters ( especially the flagships, but there are certain elder dragons that have unique traits too ) special gimmicks for their weapons, like for example in 3U Brachydios was the only monster where the weapons had the blast element ( used to be called slime ) and when it’s not directly the abilities sometimes it’s the appearance, like chameleos weapons being very simple when unsheathed, but then gaining these sort of translucid blades when you sheathe them
I know this is 6 years later, but I'll do my own Seregios Weapons Tier List, just for fun. Must Make: Bow, Greatsword, Hunting Horn, and Gunlance. These weapons stand out above the rest in their respective weapon classes, even in the endgame. Note: Because the Steve GS does not need Sharpness+1, you do not need to stick to the Baibai Kaiser set, making it an equal contender to the usually dominant Fatalis GS. Generally excellent and you'd be hard-pressed to find a better(non-relic) option. Honorable mention goes to LBG, because while I THINK elemental builds out-damage it, Steve LBG is great for all-purpose and is still a serious DPS beast. Decent: SA, HBG, Lance, and Hammer. Great weapons, just outclassed. HBG and Hammer outclassed by the Crimson Fatty versions. Lance is only good for evade-lancing, and faces competition from Crimson Fatty lance. SA can actually go the distance with only 10 units of purple, but it forces a different playstyle. Worth making but not top tier. Honorable mention goes to SNS, like SA it might be able to make-do with only 10 units of purple. I'll need to test it out first, but I can see Steve SNS being viable. Or maybe it's not viable and Rajang Club is a better raw option, idk yet. Avoid: LongSword, Dual Blades, CB, and IG. These weapons use up the sharpness way too fast to be viable. You are warned. Alternatives: For CB use Ceadeus or Rajang. Element Phial CB is also dope if you're into that. If you want to use general-purpose-raw dual blades, just use Rajang. Or go elemental. For Longsword, either make Dalamadur, Najarala, Tigrex, or go elemental. For Insect Glaive, use Bounding Dalamadur, Crimson Fatty, or again, just go elemental lmao. The Seregios versions of these weapons suck and I promise that you'll have more fun using the alternatives I listed out.
I feel like if you use the DB with an evadesion+3 razor sharp and evade extender you can just become a seregios. Perhaps its damage sucks but you can feel like how a DB player thinks he plays like.
wrong. Seregios CB is meta on deviljho and shagaru magala. Furia is better than crimson fatty in some cases. Both you and gaijins lists are ass gitgud you scrubby boy
I find the Seregios Charge blade to be good in some cases, it seems to encourage more axe play, seeing as you're not using as many hits, which I find do be fun. It could have to do with me being an idiot or something but I like it.
I really love Seregios armor and weapons. It was love at first sight when I saw the first pictures of it's armor, and the weapons look sharp an neat. My current Seregios X set goes like this: - Constitution +2 - Steady Hand (Razor Sharp + Mind´s eye) - Negate Bleeding - Weakness Exploit -Partbreaker - Slow Sharpening Overall, a good multi-purpose set.
The Light Bowgun is phenomenal at cutting tails. In fact, the rapid-fire Slicing S even manage to out-damage Normal 2s (even with Normal Up). Don't forget to pack 20 Whetstones with those 99 huskberries and 99 needleberries so you can make more on the fly. The absolute coolest thing about Slicing S is their supreme range. They fly as far as a Normal 2, but they will do max damage at any distance. So you can quite easily knock down flying wyverns as they try to escape to another area with them. I never thought I'd use Slicing S of all things as a damage-dealer, but I've actually had hunts where I would almost exclusively use Slicing S to destroy monsters.
i use the Seregios LS and its pretty easy to maintain Purple without loosing too much dps on the monster. if you play in a group of 4 there is usually enough downtime with mounting or trap setups so you can dodge all you need. And even solo i usually stay purple. But my absolute favourite Seregios weapon is the LBG *_* this thing is insanly overpowered.
Of course remember that individual playstyle will change how effective the weapons are for you. With Lance I run eva+2/3, evade extender, and constitution+1/2 and back-hop around the arena to keep up with fast moving monsters like Brachy.
Hello! Anyone knows how can i forge a chela blade (GS) from seregios? I killed a lot of them but i can forge all other weapon types except Great Sword. I'm 10* in caravan and HR4 in Gathering Hall. Any advise?
the cb is actually pretty good since with razor you are able to keep purple the whole hunt which will outdammage a lot of other craftable cb, but it's most used against deviljho since you won''t have to gp a lot
With all respect to Gaijin Hunter, from what I gather from japanese videos and other sources. If you really don't wanna waste your precious resources on weapons which are indeed fun to play but lose with comparision to other endgame weapons, you should only: Craft (from best to worst): 1. Bow (really good bow, no question about it, one of the best endgame bows) 2. GS (I see most Japanese players use it over Diablos GS apparently) 3. Horn (great synergy with evade style of play) 4. Lance (for evade lancing) Avoid (from best to worst): 1. GL (Long type means you sould focus on stabs other than shells + evade gunlancing, Wide would be better here) 2. Hammer (works only with evade hammering, if you focus on normal type of play with hammer + ear protection it's not that great, and Crimson Fatalis hammer is still way better). 3. LBG (Definately usable but LBG without elemenal shots is not that great. Rapid fire on lv2 normal is ok, but shouldn't be primary focus of LBG which main trick lies in elemental damage). 4. SnS (Again, no element is bad for SnS, and as GH stated in the video, you don't have too many oportunities to evade). 5. HBG (the unique reload method is not as good as on LBG because you'll be reloading only 1 bullet at time and you want full clip at once, means reload is faster than rolling 5-6 times. Siedge fire does not take advantage of Seregios weapons unique mechanics). 6. LS (as stated in video). 7. DB (as stated in video). 8. SA (as stated in video). 9. CB (as stated in video). 10. IG (as stated in video).
A long type GL is great/fine for online play and really I'd be surprised if it wasn't fine for solo online too.The Lance is weaker in every way, even if you never shelled with the GL (but you can, since long is still fine for chaining). I don't think wherever you got this from understands how damage works if they think an LBG needs elemental to be good--that's an outdated opinion that was always wrong, similar to what people used to think about bows. And "no element is bad for SnS" is another one of those wrong statements. Maybe if you were comparing something with the same raw and an element, sure, but the seregios has high raw and doesn't need s+1, giving you room for more damage boosters. The GS, while good, is mostly really good for solo. If you have the stronger GS made they are better for online multiplayer since they sport higher raw and you have a lot more openings to sharpen when needed. Not having to sharpen ever is great for solo speed runs though, which is why you see it.
decus478 Seregios GL is at best OK. It's not great. It's outclassed by other endgame Gunlances. Seregios weapons are designed evade most of the time and I hardly see how that fits GL. It feels great with Lance though. LBG is fine toy to play with for a few hunts but other LBG, mostly element ones outclass it. It'll end up lonely in your box sooner than you expect it. SnS is the same story, outclassed by other endgame SnS. About GS, no sorry but you have no idea what you talking about. The only better crafted GS are Diablos and Ukanlos. Hovever they support negative affinity, so even with Crit Draw you have 80% and 70% chance for a crit. If you miss few crits (which will likely happen), Seregios GS despite lower raw will be better. That's just my opinion, you don't have to worry about it. I won't waste my time grinding hundreds of Seregios to get all of his weapons because despite unique gimmick, most of them are easily outclassed or fail to work even in theory. The ones I listed stands strong so it's not a waste to craft them.
antariantariantari On GS: you're forgetting a few (and I guess have no idea what you're talking about?). Shine or Dark and Darkmire Blade are both purple, no negative and higher raw. The -20% on cera still allows it to eclipse seregios as well, when you're not playing solo. There are some other swords that, while they only get white, outdamage seregios even so since the difference in bonus between white and purple was nerfed. Crit Draw is nice, especially in solo when you're more likely to just stick to draws, but in online when other people are speeding up trips, mounts and other larger openings you have more 'space' to do your full combo. Again, it's a good GS I was just explaining why you see most japanese players use it--they use it for solo speedruns because it is undoubtedly the best in that environment and obviously still really good in multi. The GL is only straight-cut outclassed if you want to include s+1 and awaken in your sets. By not including either, you have tons of room for AuU, challenger and the like, easy. Evade GL is great--no merit to blocking unlike with potential Lance counters. You only get one hop/step but it's longer than the lance ones. The SnS I'd agree is outclassed a lot of the time, but I wouldn't call it useless and that's probably why gaijinhunter placed it where he did. Again, not having to include s+1 means you can go straight for AuU and challenger and the like without messing with s+1 or honed blade. The only weapon that truly, always outclasses it in that respect is farmed from a g-rank elder dragon event quest we will not have on release. On release, I would say it is the best raw SnS. For LBG I'd need to check what shots everything loads a bit more carefully, but an elemental LBG will only outclass it if it also has a significantly higher raw and does not need any skills to modify its reload speed. And even then it'd be on a per-monster basis. Out of the normal shot LBG, seregios seems the best and there is merit to having at least one.
antariantariantari He's not wrong. The Seregios GS is better suited to solo play than team-play. In team play you have far more opportunities to chain charges, leading the seregios GS to either ignore those opportunities and lose damage, or take those opportunities and run out of sharpness too fast. The affinity difference is negligable. an 80% crit draw is on average a 20% damage boost, a 100% crit draw is a 25% damage boost. That's not a big enough difference to make up for the sharpness issues you have in team play, or the 30 real raw difference (which makes the Cymmetry ~10% stronger). It's not even a competition, in group play the Seregios GS is MILES behind the Cera Cymmetry. The LBG is the best all-purpose LBG in the game. The SnS is terrible, no doubt about that. It's not because of the lack of element though, it's because of the sharpness issues. The SnS bread and butter attacks 5 times and it's repeatable so you typically don't want to roll afterwards so you don't have to reposition, they chew through sharpness so fast that it's usually more efficient to sit through white sharpness instead of sharpening every time purple drops, but the Seregios SnS has low little white sharpness that even that doesn't last long. It's literally unusable sharpness on an SnS. The Lance is even worse needing to evade 9 times to resharpen. The Gunlance is one of the best gunlances. I don't even know why you think anything else. Over time the sharpness is going to drop to white, but because it has a 30 sharpness buffer by the time it drops you'd have gained multiple ticks of re-sharpening meaning it has the highest effective purple sharpness of any gunlance in the game. The hammer is great in solo play. Yes there are times you'll do 6 attacks in a row (KO'd monster) but there are also times you'll do a level 2 charge and need to roll out afterwards. It balances out very nicely. In team play it's godawful for similar reasons to the GS. I really don't think you know what you're talking about.
At first I thought the same, but it turns out it's outdated opinion and Seregios is a bit better. I have no idea what you talking about differences in team-play. Unless you're speedrunning and have status support + stun lock monster in one place whole fight (not likely happen with randoms), you'll have enough opportunities to roll to maintain sharpness whole fight. There's absolutely no issues about sharpness with Seregios GS in team play. Cera is skill dependent, it starts with white (requires Sharpness+1) while Seregios GS starts with Purple so you can fit Attack+ skills or more skills in general to make up for lower raw and to buff it even aboe cera raw. As I said, if you're low on luck and miss few crits with Cera it'll be inferior choice. I'm not gonna argue with you further, go make proper calcs. Seregios LBG is easily outclassed by stat guns and when it comes to normal lv2, it's miles behind HBG. It's pretty much gold ian gun from 3G + new gimmick. Unless you play casual or for fun it's just like I said. I wanna see your times with it. Than compare it to God gun etc. I'm not a fan of Normal/Long type GL. If you're using shells, sharpness is always a problem so I'm better of with Wide + focusing on Shell dmg with Artillery Master because shell dmg is unffected by sharpness. I also use ESP most of the time. Hammer is good only for evade hammering. It's great for team play if you're evade hammering. What more can I say?
Sns and gs Seregios weapons are probably the most useful, as rolling is essentially part of the sns combo, and it's used to stop ending animations of gs swings, and repositioning
Sns is bad because you attack so much in between dodges. Even with razor sharp, you only get 2 attacks per dodge, and your normal combo with sns can easily be 10 hits between each dodge. It is definitely really good for GS, though.
Village is high rank, the only way to reach G-Rank is through the online/offline guild hall, which you can do with friends or solo. The new online feature makes playing with random people along with friends so much easier. So G-Rank should be a lot easier to reach than soloing in the older games. :P

Hi gaijin! Really love your videos. They give old and new players tricks, advanced movements and a basic understandig of the weapons, always pointing out the diversity and that every single one can be the "ultimate" 4 someone. There is one thing I noticed; since 3 Ultimate it's impossible to kill Kelbis including the MH4U demo. But i've seen videos of MH4G killing them with ease. Is that because the average western gamer prefers the fast, more comfortable way (at least in Capcoms eyes)? What do you think?
Lots of hunter want this monster make a comeback in rise. I never fight it before but based on the hype, is it weapon and armor are OP? Or is it because of the design looks cool?
@@amatmulisha2978 In my particular case is a litte bit of everything. I'm a sucker for flying wyverns and his design was really good. The hunt itself is also very entertaining, Astalos is a very fast beast that moves all the time and doesn't gives you time to breath. Besides that, he also can inflict the "bleeding" status which makes you lose HP if you run or dodge (two of the things you should be doing the most during the fight), in other words, it's a fight you have to use strategy. Only Smashing buttons will not save you for this one.

There's the traditional Gathering Hall quests (Low, High, and G rank), and then there's Guild Quests, which you obtain by doing Expeditions. He has a video up explaining Expeditions and guild quests, but in a nutshell: Guild Quests have a leveling system (from Lv1 - Lv140) that makes the monster increasingly difficult, but also increases rewards. Apex monsters (previously 'Extreme monsters') are monsters that overcame Gore Magala's Frenzy virus and have a huge boost in power. They appear in High and G rank quests as well as high level Guild Quests (at around Level 135). G rank quests are now categorized in three different categories that determine difficulty: G1, G2, and G3. G1 quests are obviously the beginning of G rank. G2 is the middle of G rank and generally where players do the most farming in preparation for the endgame. G3 mostly consists of endgame quests. I hope this clears things up c:
At 2:50 when you did the fade slash into the R slash combo, how did you continue the combo without hitting a target? I don't use longsword that often, but when I miss with that second R after a fade slash it always ends my combo no matter what I press...
if you don't have enough spirit built up you can't continue the R combo, after the fade slash he pressed R to do that step in and then pressed X (or A I can't remember) it isn't part of that combo but you can combo from that attack :p

I know I'm late but I've been playing 4u allot lately so I've started watching some of your old vids and couldn't help but notice you said to avoid the seregios sa but then put it in your top 5 Lol It might seem irrelevant now but could you maybe explain how you would have to play this sa differently to make it good? Just want to know cause it's one of my favs
I gem'd in evade distance, sneak and the rest of recoil for my seregios with HBG set... Simply because if the trade off between HBG and LBG is power for mobility... then what happens when you substitute mobility with the ability to roll pretty far, pretty quickly and pretty often... leading to the complete nullification of the need to reload... It means the only time of actual vulnerability you have is when you're trying to manage your aim (pellet excluded)... and when you lose track of your ammo and try to shoot with an empty clip... sneak tends to afford me plenty of time to aim in multiplayer and in single player, i can literally roll and shoot pellets in the general direction of the monster, free damage.
I think the heavy bowgun is meant to be based off of an old german anti tank rifle (judging by the magazine and the skids)-that's pretty cool in my book
You dont like the SA? I think its great i use it and, i play it with evasion and it almost never drops lower then white, i mostly got purple for the whole hunt.
You have to purposefully evade and that's why he doesn't like it. It's not like the other weapons where you're evasions are almost always necessary for using the weapon to its fullest and that makes it feel like you're being given a bonus without any real downside. It's easy to evade enough with SA and CBs, but when you compare it to weapons like the GS, which evade after almost every other attack they do, you can probably see why the evasion requirement is far less noticeable on those weapons.
If you're mostly purple for the entire hunt, you're probably not exploting openings as well as you should be. The better you are at switch axe, the worse the seregios switch axe becomes because you're dodging less and hitting more.
I see your point for the LS weapon but if you make a set focused on evading, it's pretty easy to stay in purple/high white. and as for damage, you don't lose that much since LS has the gauge for a high damage increase. Rusted with Narg gloves and a +4 consitutn/+2 unscathed with 3 slots will net you Evasion +3, evasion extender, razor sharp, consitution +2, and peak performance. unless the monster is a really immobile, I tend to stay in purple. and the damage is pretty high too.
Hey, what would you say is a good Light Bowgun armor set? I'm working on making the Seregios and Blizzard LBGs and want to be able to use them since I'm normally using Blademaster Weapons.
I'm actually finding the gunlance a bit underwhelming so far, but I'm assuming that's because I prefer to guard with it rather than evade. Hoping there's a more suitable GL tree for me later on. (HR7 and Caravan 10 at the moment.)
I made the Seregios CB in 4G and I didn't use it much, realized the sharpness being so small on purple and white made it meh. There's one thing I still don't understand, well 2, how do you get that Razor Sharp makes 5 rolls = 10 units of sharpness? The second one is: I don't quite understand what's special about the bow. Did they make Power and C. Range more effective or is it just they gave it high attack because it has no specials for rolling?

Can you only get the materials for the first weapon through village quests? I have killed seregios around 20 times at g2 and am not able to make the hh or hammer yet.
You made the charge blade sound like it wasn't amazing was my only problem. Yeah maintaining the purple is more of a thing than with, say, the greatsword, but with the good sharpness in the first place, the impact phials and the sheer raw damage, that thing got me through the tail end of high rank all the way through G-rank and I can still find a place for it in hunts I can't find a way to abuse elemental weaknesses. Finding time to get rolling five times is less difficult than it sounds, since the shield is on the weaker side without a charge, and rolling is basically how you position yourself to get hits in ax form. It might not be the _perfect_ charge blade, mind you, but I think any weapon that lets me, and at the time I was still not exactly good at the game, blind solo Dalamadur deserves appreciation.
When i saw the Lightbowgun i was in love :3 But it cant shiot elemental bullets? I think thats very bad but maybe someone can tell me better Is it that bad to have a none elemental weapon?
I've been trying to farm for Seregios Insect Glaive, but I need a few impalers. Sure, it's not the best weapon, but since I evade a lot and i'm trying to get some Sharpness +1, I think it would be a perfect weapon for my playstyle. Unfortunately I don't think you can get impalers at Super Sonic Seregios mission. Oh well.
A newbie to the monster hunter series who has only played the demo (quite a lot though) here with a question. Im really into bows as I play the demo and the bow in this looks really nice but is Load Up like a skill you get randomly on armor or something? Is it easy to get? Thanks to any help.
Seregios Switch Axe is underrated in my opinion ive been using it with evade+3 and considering how often you can dodge between SA attacks i end up not even sharpening it while fighting fast paced monsters(think brachydios) the only drawback is focusing more on slower/more powerfull moves despite the fast ones,but because it lacks elements its really no bid deal its been my go to non elemental weapon for a while now
So, even though the set goes against it, what happens if you have speed sharpener? Does it half the roles to sharpen it, or does it actually do nothing?
Actually, it's NOT the weapons themselves that are useless, it's the gimmick. Except the DB cuts the evade count required to 4. So, yeah. Even without the gimmick, the raw power of these weapons make them good for when you don't know or care about the enemy's weakness.

i dont know if mhxx is different, but here, sergios insect glaive is beast when combined with aerial style. at first i dont know that the weapon have a passive that only included in the vanilla text, but when hunting with it i notice it just sharpen my weapon everytime i do aerial jump. its my favorite weapon ever since
The IG from Seregios honestly is one of my favorite IGs from my collection. The attack is not bad, and the special effect helps me stay in blue (although white is better). I would say you should roll in combat but when out of combat grab a whetstone. I just love that weapon.
Can you do a video explaining how forging/armor skills/elements and game mechanics works for us new to the series? Like when you apologized for the color on the HH because you "extreme forged" it, I'm lost. :( I'm excited to play the game but overwhelmed at all the jargon people are using on Reddit! I'm sure there'll be ingame dialogue explaining it all but I feel like you making a video on it would be way more informative for me and everyone else getting into the series. I'm surprised the SA didn't get more of a positive review. That fact that the A > X combo gives you three hits but only costs 2 for the sake of sharpness.
So you get 5 sets of combos that count for 15 hits before the sharpness drops down!

I just hunted my first Seregios in 4U's caravan story and I wanted to understand what that yellow outline on the weapons are.

Been using it with GS and it seems to complement it just perfectly, especially if you're not using Crit Draw+Quick Sheathe and therefore not sheathing as often. I would say that if you're using GS, Seregios is a must have weapon.
It's worth mentioning that there may be better options for Switch-Axe come G-rank, but when you first get access to it in solo play high rank (no gathering hall missions) that weapon is an absolutely monster. It has over 900 attack with a power phial and at least has the option of white sharpness, even if it's tiny.
The closest SA I've been able to make up to that point is from Rathian, which only has 864 and a poison phial. The next step down is 810 with either poison or dragon phials. The closest power phials are still in the 760 range. Most of these are still only green sharp or maybe 20-40 blue, so reaching white even for a sliver is amazing for that stage of the game unless you've had some stupid good luck with relic weapons from expeditions.
I was thinking the same thing about the longsword. It's obscenely strong compared to what I'm using right now in high rank.

However, I'm curious about what armor set or mixed armor set you'd recommend for the Seregios bow, as it doesn't seem as though the Seregios gunner armor compliments the bow.

5 years later, but anyone else curious passing by, the Chaotic Gore Magala weapons also have a unique feature. They have both negative and positive affinity, but when you get inflicted by frenzy and manages to suppress it, the negative affinity becomes positive and is added to the positive. With this you have goofy stuff like a 65% affinity GS without even needing the Expert skill.
They do try to give certain monsters ( especially the flagships, but there are certain elder dragons that have unique traits too ) special gimmicks for their weapons, like for example in 3U Brachydios was the only monster where the weapons had the blast element ( used to be called slime ) and when it’s not directly the abilities sometimes it’s the appearance, like chameleos weapons being very simple when unsheathed, but then gaining these sort of translucid blades when you sheathe them

I know this is 6 years later, but I'll do my own Seregios Weapons Tier List, just for fun.
Must Make: Bow, Greatsword, Hunting Horn, and Gunlance. These weapons stand out above the rest in their respective weapon classes, even in the endgame. Note: Because the Steve GS does not need Sharpness+1, you do not need to stick to the Baibai Kaiser set, making it an equal contender to the usually dominant Fatalis GS. Generally excellent and you'd be hard-pressed to find a better(non-relic) option. Honorable mention goes to LBG, because while I THINK elemental builds out-damage it, Steve LBG is great for all-purpose and is still a serious DPS beast.
Decent: SA, HBG, Lance, and Hammer. Great weapons, just outclassed. HBG and Hammer outclassed by the Crimson Fatty versions. Lance is only good for evade-lancing, and faces competition from Crimson Fatty lance. SA can actually go the distance with only 10 units of purple, but it forces a different playstyle. Worth making but not top tier. Honorable mention goes to SNS, like SA it might be able to make-do with only 10 units of purple. I'll need to test it out first, but I can see Steve SNS being viable. Or maybe it's not viable and Rajang Club is a better raw option, idk yet.
Avoid: LongSword, Dual Blades, CB, and IG. These weapons use up the sharpness way too fast to be viable. You are warned. Alternatives: For CB use Ceadeus or Rajang. Element Phial CB is also dope if you're into that. If you want to use general-purpose-raw dual blades, just use Rajang. Or go elemental. For Longsword, either make Dalamadur, Najarala, Tigrex, or go elemental. For Insect Glaive, use Bounding Dalamadur, Crimson Fatty, or again, just go elemental lmao. The Seregios versions of these weapons suck and I promise that you'll have more fun using the alternatives I listed out.
I feel like if you use the DB with an evadesion+3 razor sharp and evade extender you can just become a seregios. Perhaps its damage sucks but you can feel like how a DB player thinks he plays like.

I find the Seregios Charge blade to be good in some cases, it seems to encourage more axe play, seeing as you're not using as many hits, which I find do be fun. It could have to do with me being an idiot or something but I like it.
I really love Seregios armor and weapons. It was love at first sight when I saw the first pictures of it's armor, and the weapons look sharp an neat. My current Seregios X set goes like this:
- Constitution +2
- Steady Hand (Razor Sharp + Mind´s eye)
- Negate Bleeding
- Weakness Exploit
-Partbreaker
- Slow Sharpening
Overall, a good multi-purpose set.
The Light Bowgun is phenomenal at cutting tails. In fact, the rapid-fire Slicing S even manage to out-damage Normal 2s (even with Normal Up). Don't forget to pack 20 Whetstones with those 99 huskberries and 99 needleberries so you can make more on the fly.
The absolute coolest thing about Slicing S is their supreme range. They fly as far as a Normal 2, but they will do max damage at any distance. So you can quite easily knock down flying wyverns as they try to escape to another area with them. I never thought I'd use Slicing S of all things as a damage-dealer, but I've actually had hunts where I would almost exclusively use Slicing S to destroy monsters.
Could you make videos like this for other monsters, especially for monster that are in all ranks (nerscylla or rathalos for example) please?

i use the Seregios LS and its pretty easy to maintain Purple without loosing too much dps on the monster. if you play in a group of 4 there is usually enough downtime with mounting or trap setups so you can dodge all you need. And even solo i usually stay purple.
But my absolute favourite Seregios weapon is the LBG *_* this thing is insanly overpowered.
Of course remember that individual playstyle will change how effective the weapons are for you. With Lance I run eva+2/3, evade extender, and constitution+1/2 and back-hop around the arena to keep up with fast moving monsters like Brachy.
I really only ever use the Seregios LBG, Gunlance, sometimes horn, hammer, the lance when I am evade lancing.
Hello! Anyone knows how can i forge a chela blade (GS) from seregios? I killed a lot of them but i can forge all other weapon types except Great Sword. I'm 10* in caravan and HR4 in Gathering Hall. Any advise?
the cb is actually pretty good since with razor you are able to keep purple the whole hunt which will outdammage a lot of other craftable cb, but it's most used against deviljho since you won''t have to gp a lot
With all respect to Gaijin Hunter, from what I gather from japanese videos and other sources. If you really don't wanna waste your precious resources on weapons which are indeed fun to play but lose with comparision to other endgame weapons, you should only:
Craft (from best to worst):
1. Bow (really good bow, no question about it, one of the best endgame bows)
2. GS (I see most Japanese players use it over Diablos GS apparently)
3. Horn (great synergy with evade style of play)
4. Lance (for evade lancing)
Avoid (from best to worst):
1. GL (Long type means you sould focus on stabs other than shells + evade gunlancing, Wide would be better here)
2. Hammer (works only with evade hammering, if you focus on normal type of play with hammer + ear protection it's not that great, and Crimson Fatalis hammer is still way better).
3. LBG (Definately usable but LBG without elemenal shots is not that great. Rapid fire on lv2 normal is ok, but shouldn't be primary focus of LBG which main trick lies in elemental damage).
4. SnS (Again, no element is bad for SnS, and as GH stated in the video, you don't have too many oportunities to evade).
5. HBG (the unique reload method is not as good as on LBG because you'll be reloading only 1 bullet at time and you want full clip at once, means reload is faster than rolling 5-6 times. Siedge fire does not take advantage of Seregios weapons unique mechanics).
6. LS (as stated in video).
7. DB (as stated in video).
8. SA (as stated in video).
9. CB (as stated in video).
10. IG (as stated in video).
A long type GL is great/fine for online play and really I'd be surprised if it wasn't fine for solo online too.The Lance is weaker in every way, even if you never shelled with the GL (but you can, since long is still fine for chaining).
I don't think wherever you got this from understands how damage works if they think an LBG needs elemental to be good--that's an outdated opinion that was always wrong, similar to what people used to think about bows.
And "no element is bad for SnS" is another one of those wrong statements. Maybe if you were comparing something with the same raw and an element, sure, but the seregios has high raw and doesn't need s+1, giving you room for more damage boosters.
The GS, while good, is mostly really good for solo. If you have the stronger GS made they are better for online multiplayer since they sport higher raw and you have a lot more openings to sharpen when needed. Not having to sharpen ever is great for solo speed runs though, which is why you see it.

Seregios GL is at best OK. It's not great. It's outclassed by other endgame Gunlances. Seregios weapons are designed evade most of the time and I hardly see how that fits GL. It feels great with Lance though.
LBG is fine toy to play with for a few hunts but other LBG, mostly element ones outclass it. It'll end up lonely in your box sooner than you expect it.
SnS is the same story, outclassed by other endgame SnS.
About GS, no sorry but you have no idea what you talking about. The only better crafted GS are Diablos and Ukanlos. Hovever they support negative affinity, so even with Crit Draw you have 80% and 70% chance for a crit. If you miss few crits (which will likely happen), Seregios GS despite lower raw will be better.
That's just my opinion, you don't have to worry about it. I won't waste my time grinding hundreds of Seregios to get all of his weapons because despite unique gimmick, most of them are easily outclassed or fail to work even in theory. The ones I listed stands strong so it's not a waste to craft them.
antariantariantari On GS: you're forgetting a few (and I guess have no idea what you're talking about?). Shine or Dark and Darkmire Blade are both purple, no negative and higher raw. The -20% on cera still allows it to eclipse seregios as well, when you're not playing solo. There are some other swords that, while they only get white, outdamage seregios even so since the difference in bonus between white and purple was nerfed. Crit Draw is nice, especially in solo when you're more likely to just stick to draws, but in online when other people are speeding up trips, mounts and other larger openings you have more 'space' to do your full combo. Again, it's a good GS I was just explaining why you see most japanese players use it--they use it for solo speedruns because it is undoubtedly the best in that environment and obviously still really good in multi.
The GL is only straight-cut outclassed if you want to include s+1 and awaken in your sets. By not including either, you have tons of room for AuU, challenger and the like, easy. Evade GL is great--no merit to blocking unlike with potential Lance counters. You only get one hop/step but it's longer than the lance ones.
The SnS I'd agree is outclassed a lot of the time, but I wouldn't call it useless and that's probably why gaijinhunter placed it where he did. Again, not having to include s+1 means you can go straight for AuU and challenger and the like without messing with s+1 or honed blade. The only weapon that truly, always outclasses it in that respect is farmed from a g-rank elder dragon event quest we will not have on release. On release, I would say it is the best raw SnS.
For LBG I'd need to check what shots everything loads a bit more carefully, but an elemental LBG will only outclass it if it also has a significantly higher raw and does not need any skills to modify its reload speed. And even then it'd be on a per-monster basis. Out of the normal shot LBG, seregios seems the best and there is merit to having at least one.
antariantariantari He's not wrong. The Seregios GS is better suited to solo play than team-play. In team play you have far more opportunities to chain charges, leading the seregios GS to either ignore those opportunities and lose damage, or take those opportunities and run out of sharpness too fast. The affinity difference is negligable. an 80% crit draw is on average a 20% damage boost, a 100% crit draw is a 25% damage boost. That's not a big enough difference to make up for the sharpness issues you have in team play, or the 30 real raw difference (which makes the Cymmetry ~10% stronger).
It's not even a competition, in group play the Seregios GS is MILES behind the Cera Cymmetry.
The LBG is the best all-purpose LBG in the game.
The SnS is terrible, no doubt about that. It's not because of the lack of element though, it's because of the sharpness issues. The SnS bread and butter attacks 5 times and it's repeatable so you typically don't want to roll afterwards so you don't have to reposition, they chew through sharpness so fast that it's usually more efficient to sit through white sharpness instead of sharpening every time purple drops, but the Seregios SnS has low little white sharpness that even that doesn't last long. It's literally unusable sharpness on an SnS. The Lance is even worse needing to evade 9 times to resharpen.
The Gunlance is one of the best gunlances. I don't even know why you think anything else. Over time the sharpness is going to drop to white, but because it has a 30 sharpness buffer by the time it drops you'd have gained multiple ticks of re-sharpening meaning it has the highest effective purple sharpness of any gunlance in the game.
The hammer is great in solo play. Yes there are times you'll do 6 attacks in a row (KO'd monster) but there are also times you'll do a level 2 charge and need to roll out afterwards. It balances out very nicely. In team play it's godawful for similar reasons to the GS.

At first I thought the same, but it turns out it's outdated opinion and Seregios is a bit better. I have no idea what you talking about differences in team-play. Unless you're speedrunning and have status support + stun lock monster in one place whole fight (not likely happen with randoms), you'll have enough opportunities to roll to maintain sharpness whole fight. There's absolutely no issues about sharpness with Seregios GS in team play. Cera is skill dependent, it starts with white (requires Sharpness+1) while Seregios GS starts with Purple so you can fit Attack+ skills or more skills in general to make up for lower raw and to buff it even aboe cera raw. As I said, if you're low on luck and miss few crits with Cera it'll be inferior choice. I'm not gonna argue with you further, go make proper calcs.
Seregios LBG is easily outclassed by stat guns and when it comes to normal lv2, it's miles behind HBG. It's pretty much gold ian gun from 3G + new gimmick. Unless you play casual or for fun it's just like I said. I wanna see your times with it. Than compare it to God gun etc.
I'm not a fan of Normal/Long type GL. If you're using shells, sharpness is always a problem so I'm better of with Wide + focusing on Shell dmg with Artillery Master because shell dmg is unffected by sharpness. I also use ESP most of the time.
Hammer is good only for evade hammering. It's great for team play if you're evade hammering. What more can I say?
Sns and gs Seregios weapons are probably the most useful, as rolling is essentially part of the sns combo, and it's used to stop ending animations of gs swings, and repositioning
Sns is bad because you attack so much in between dodges. Even with razor sharp, you only get 2 attacks per dodge, and your normal combo with sns can easily be 10 hits between each dodge. It is definitely really good for GS, though.

how far do the village quests go ? someone told me G-rank
Village is high rank, the only way to reach G-Rank is through the online/offline guild hall, which you can do with friends or solo. The new online feature makes playing with random people along with friends so much easier. So G-Rank should be a lot easier to reach than soloing in the older games. :P

Hi gaijin! Really love your videos. They give old and new players tricks, advanced movements and a basic understandig of the weapons, always pointing out the diversity and that every single one can be the "ultimate" 4 someone.
There is one thing I noticed; since 3 Ultimate it's impossible to kill Kelbis including the MH4U demo. But i've seen videos of MH4G killing them with ease. Is that because the average western gamer prefers the fast, more comfortable way (at least in Capcoms eyes)?

@0:47 No probs, since Seregios weapons have auto-sharpening. Just roll 3 to 4 times with the weapon sheathed to sharpen.

Lots of hunter want this monster make a comeback in rise. I never fight it before but based on the hype, is it weapon and armor are OP? Or is it because of the design looks cool?
@@amatmulisha2978 In my particular case is a litte bit of everything. I'm a sucker for flying wyverns and his design was really good. The hunt itself is also very entertaining, Astalos is a very fast beast that moves all the time and doesn't gives you time to breath. Besides that, he also can inflict the "bleeding" status which makes you lose HP if you run or dodge (two of the things you should be doing the most during the fight), in other words, it's a fight you have to use strategy. Only Smashing buttons will not save you for this one.

There's the traditional Gathering Hall quests (Low, High, and G rank), and then there's Guild Quests, which you obtain by doing Expeditions. He has a video up explaining Expeditions and guild quests, but in a nutshell: Guild Quests have a leveling system (from Lv1 - Lv140) that makes the monster increasingly difficult, but also increases rewards.
Apex monsters (previously 'Extreme monsters') are monsters that overcame Gore Magala's Frenzy virus and have a huge boost in power. They appear in High and G rank quests as well as high level Guild Quests (at around Level 135).
G rank quests are now categorized in three different categories that determine difficulty: G1, G2, and G3. G1 quests are obviously the beginning of G rank. G2 is the middle of G rank and generally where players do the most farming in preparation for the endgame. G3 mostly consists of endgame quests.

At 2:50 when you did the fade slash into the R slash combo, how did you continue the combo without hitting a target? I don't use longsword that often, but when I miss with that second R after a fade slash it always ends my combo no matter what I press...
if you don't have enough spirit built up you can't continue the R combo, after the fade slash he pressed R to do that step in and then pressed X (or A I can't remember) it isn't part of that combo but you can combo from that attack :p

I gem'd in evade distance, sneak and the rest of recoil for my seregios with HBG set...
Simply because if the trade off between HBG and LBG is power for mobility... then what happens when you substitute mobility with the ability to roll pretty far, pretty quickly and pretty often... leading to the complete nullification of the need to reload... It means the only time of actual vulnerability you have is when you're trying to manage your aim (pellet excluded)... and when you lose track of your ammo and try to shoot with an empty clip...
sneak tends to afford me plenty of time to aim in multiplayer
and in single player, i can literally roll and shoot pellets in the general direction of the monster, free damage.

I think the heavy bowgun is meant to be based off of an old german anti tank rifle (judging by the magazine and the skids)-that's pretty cool in my book
You dont like the SA? I think its great i use it and, i play it with evasion and it almost never drops lower then white, i mostly got purple for the whole hunt.
You have to purposefully evade and that's why he doesn't like it. It's not like the other weapons where you're evasions are almost always necessary for using the weapon to its fullest and that makes it feel like you're being given a bonus without any real downside. It's easy to evade enough with SA and CBs, but when you compare it to weapons like the GS, which evade after almost every other attack they do, you can probably see why the evasion requirement is far less noticeable on those weapons.
If you're mostly purple for the entire hunt, you're probably not exploting openings as well as you should be. The better you are at switch axe, the worse the seregios switch axe becomes because you're dodging less and hitting more.

I see your point for the LS weapon but if you make a set focused on evading, it's pretty easy to stay in purple/high white. and as for damage, you don't lose that much since LS has the gauge for a high damage increase. Rusted with Narg gloves and a +4 consitutn/+2 unscathed with 3 slots will net you Evasion +3, evasion extender, razor sharp, consitution +2, and peak performance. unless the monster is a really immobile, I tend to stay in purple. and the damage is pretty high too.
Hey, what would you say is a good Light Bowgun armor set? I'm working on making the Seregios and Blizzard LBGs and want to be able to use them since I'm normally using Blademaster Weapons.
Any tips for the g rank altar eon and tempest armor (not GX), I'm a switch axe user.

You said in another video, that the backhop of the sns counts as an evade.
So it restores sharpness too, right?
My hammer won't have the spikes stand up. What am I doing wrong?

I'm actually finding the gunlance a bit underwhelming so far, but I'm assuming that's because I prefer to guard with it rather than evade. Hoping there's a more suitable GL tree for me later on. (HR7 and Caravan 10 at the moment.)
I made the Seregios CB in 4G and I didn't use it much, realized the sharpness being so small on purple and white made it meh. There's one thing I still don't understand, well 2, how do you get that Razor Sharp makes 5 rolls = 10 units of sharpness?
The second one is: I don't quite understand what's special about the bow. Did they make Power and C. Range more effective or is it just they gave it high attack because it has no specials for rolling?

Gs and Hammer are imo the strongest ones because their sharpness doesn't drain so quickly with the right playstyle.

You made the charge blade sound like it wasn't amazing was my only problem. Yeah maintaining the purple is more of a thing than with, say, the greatsword, but with the good sharpness in the first place, the impact phials and the sheer raw damage, that thing got me through the tail end of high rank all the way through G-rank and I can still find a place for it in hunts I can't find a way to abuse elemental weaknesses. Finding time to get rolling five times is less difficult than it sounds, since the shield is on the weaker side without a charge, and rolling is basically how you position yourself to get hits in ax form. It might not be the _perfect_ charge blade, mind you, but I think any weapon that lets me, and at the time I was still not exactly good at the game, blind solo Dalamadur deserves appreciation.

I've been trying to farm for Seregios Insect Glaive, but I need a few impalers. Sure, it's not the best weapon, but since I evade a lot and i'm trying to get some Sharpness +1, I think it would be a perfect weapon for my playstyle.
Unfortunately I don't think you can get impalers at Super Sonic Seregios mission. Oh well.
A newbie to the monster hunter series who has only played the demo (quite a lot though) here with a question. Im really into bows as I play the demo and the bow in this looks really nice but is Load Up like a skill you get randomly on armor or something? Is it easy to get? Thanks to any help.

I actually quite like the Seregios Insect Glaive. I recently finished a Savage Jho quest in under 10 minutes with it!
Seregios Switch Axe is underrated in my opinion
ive been using it with evade+3 and considering how often you can dodge between SA attacks i end up not even sharpening it while fighting fast paced monsters(think brachydios)
the only drawback is focusing more on slower/more powerfull moves despite the fast ones,but because it lacks elements its really no bid deal
its been my go to non elemental weapon for a while now

So, even though the set goes against it, what happens if you have speed sharpener? Does it half the roles to sharpen it, or does it actually do nothing?
Actually, it's NOT the weapons themselves that are useless, it's the gimmick. Except the DB cuts the evade count required to 4. So, yeah. Even without the gimmick, the raw power of these weapons make them good for when you don't know or care about the enemy's weakness.
What is a good bow set to use with the Seregios Bow?
The High Rank Seregios set has Mind's Eye so i dont even bother sharpening and just auto sharpen when I can
