    This looks like a slightly upgraded version of the original G9, but that is a 2020 model and this is a 2023 model. The G9 has the neo G9 and the oled G9 so I am going to say this is the "original G9 killer" because it has same specs, has slightly better performance and it is slightly cheaper.

    Hi, I do need some advice about watching 1080p videos on 1440p monitors that no one is talking about !
    Tried some high-spec 1440p models but all of them were blurry, shockingly worse than 1080p native monitors while playing 1080p videos.
    Then I unfortunately learned that the scaler won't be able to precisely transpose the 1080p image onto the 1440p screen. Meaning, blur and other visual artifacts make the video look substantially worse than 1080p native monitors and it's not related with bitrate or compression etc.
    Mainly watching 1080p shows, movies (not streaming on youtube/Netflix etc) and have a huge archive... Tried 4K monitors/TVs with 1080p videos and they look just fine, equal to 1080p native ! 4K is exactly four times 1080p resolution; this means that for every pixel in 1080p, there are four pixels in 2160p, so you just make each pixel four times bigger. Looks exactly like a 1080p display.
    I want to upgrade to 2K for games, web & work but "to watch 1080p videos blurry with artifacts" is holding me back.
    4K is hard to drive and it's expensive but definitely clearer than 1440p !
    - Should I skip 1440p & invest in 4K monitors ? Can you do a video about the elephant in the room ?

    • @gavinbailey11
      @gavinbailey11 7 месяцев назад

      You're never going to get perfect image quality watching a 1080p video on a 1440p monitor. It's just how it is. I have movies downloaded natively to my computer that are 1080p and they still look blurry. The reason is because computer monitors don't have the same upscaling tech that TVs do, so they won't ever look as good on a monitor when compared to a TV. It'd be the same way if you were to play a game at 1920x1080 on a 2560x1440 panel, it would look blurry and washed out unless at the native resolution. I deal with this constantly, even with RUclipss newer "1080p enhanced bitrate" videos on Premium. I've just learned to deal with it unfortunately. Unless you wanted to watch it at 4K on a 1440p display if it was uploaded as a 4K video, you'll never get the same clarity on a lower resolution than your native res.

    How does this compare to the Samsung Odyssey? What type of system do you need to take advantage of this monitor?

    • @GeekStreet

      Very similar in spec, really depends on your usage, the majority of pc's can support that resolution I've got an older PC too from 5 years ago and playing forza and fortnite is fine, most pc's can cope with 1440p but struggle at 4k hope that helps.

      @GeekStreet Are there any differences between the LG and the Samsung Odyssey Neo 49"? The Samsung has gotten a lot of criticism and the LG seems less expensive, but I'll admit that I like the Samsung a little better. I'm also trying to build a new PC, but attempting to figure out what I need in a graphics card to game with this type of monitor.

      @@Aggie1295 looking at the the spec of the neo G9 the main thing is that the brightness is twice as bright and it's mini led so black levels will be better but other than that it's pretty much identical. GPU really depends on what you plan to play. As a low end example you get away with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 on a low res.

    Hey guys, I had an OLED G8 and the picture was definetly better than with this monitor. But please consider. U will always have a bad feeling when thinking about burn in when you also work with the monitor - i was always thinking about burn in. This Monitor doesn't have that problem - it has 240 hz - 1440 p - and is around 850 Euros in Germany and Austria. For 240 hz, 1440p and 49 inch , i will recommend. BUT not for more than 1000 Euros... then i would save up for an mini led 49 inch if you also do office work. All the best Martin

    "LG 49" excellent review again @geekstreet , surprised by the amount of cons it has , speaker input should be on the back panel not underneath , no inbuilt speakers , the white bleed through is really bad & should send the monitor back to LG for a refund , the no mounting brackets spacers or washers or screws for the big LG recess for mounting , no 4k , no good for consoles & the price of 2860aud , i also think the view is to narrow for sim racing , i cant recommended this for pc & console gaming , massive pass for me 😔

    • @GeekStreet
      @GeekStreet  Год назад +1

      Thanks, theres a couple of reasons for the design gamers generally use headphones so no need for speakers and having a headphone jack underneath is just for convenience in plugging in. If it was 4K the majority of GPU's wouldn't be able to handle it hence why they go for 1440p. For the hardcore gamers out its pretty good.
