This ride does cause blackouts. I came close to blacking out on this. This isn't just a roller coaster here!
I may be 33 but I learned something that day. I am not able to handle these rougher rides like I could in my 20's and teens. I have been on rides closer to the intensity as the intimidator 305. That ride just pushes me over the edge INSANE.

Yikes!!!! I can't physically handle that ride. I tried it once and it make me sick the rest of the day.
Actually more intense than Millenium. This is the ultimate ride experience.
Its really the perfect combination of rides. It has the drop and height of Millennium Force and the intensity, twists, and G-forces of Maverick. They are the perfect rides to combine because Millennium Force was my favorite roller coaster for probably 13 years and Maverick was smaller, but one of the most intense roller coasters I had ever ridden. Just a brilliant decision by Intiman to combine the 2 rides. Now they just need a Giga coaster that is intense as this AND goes upside down. That would be the perfect ride. An enormous drop, intense as shit turns, and then 3 or 4 inversions

Millenium is much more accessible to many people, but it is mostly just floater airtime.
i went on this ride during summer vacay in 2012, and i was sooo stupid. THIS WAS MY FIRST ROLLER COASTER I EVER RODE IN MY LIFE TIME AND THE FIRST TIME I DROPPED THE F BOMB!!! Best ride ever!

i went on it 3 times in a row one time and started to black out too. Had to sit down for 5-10 mins
I went there on a day where literally nobody was there and made the mistake of riding Intimidator 15 times because there was never a line. I blacked out 3 times total, always around the first turn and at the end of the day, I had the most splitting headache I have ever had. The forces on this ride don't fuck around
This is probably the best ride at Kings Dominion. For most of my day here, I stayed between Anaconda and Intimidator 305. They both had pretty short lines.
This ride NEVER gets old
When I first heard about this ride I was like "why is it called intimidator" when I saw it I got my answer. That ride is AWESOME!! I got tunnel vision when I rode it and I came out laughing.
i rode this three times on opening day, my wife even got on it with me, she about blacked out at the bottom of that first drop... lol, it was fantastic, i hope everyone gets to ride it , its the best coaster i ever been on, but i havent been to cedar point yet

When i first went on it i was freaking out and my heart was pounding and i was SO scared, then i rode it 10 times afterward, i even went in the front, it is FUN.
Never riding this again. Blacked out on the first drop. That's never happened to me before my entire life on any ride....anywhere.
indyracingnut Once again, it's because of the high GForces at the bottom of the drop pulling you into that forceful right hand turn at 90mph, those GForces cause average riders to either black or grey out.
Such a good ride though. Eh, your loss. More fun for me👌

I've this ridden this 4 times back to back
I love Intimin makes these intense beasts and B&M makes these heavenly floaters. If you go to a park with one of each hyper (yes, I know 305 is a giga) then it’s really worth riding both because they are so different! I love it.
I like Leviathan and other B&Ms because of their roomy seating. This had much more Gs though, and even though the scenery isn't as good and it's not as long I liked this more than Millennium.

Omg I just went to kings dominion on Tuesday and I had never been on roller coasters, I got on every single one at the park and let me tell you this was by far the best one. My buddy actually blacked out though. If you aren't in good health don't get on this coaster. For those of you in good health, RIDE ON!
I rode this 3 times and each time when we started going down i was getting lifted up off my seat

Campbell Inman Don't be scared to get on it. Trust me, I first tried it not too long ago and I was shitting my pants looking at it (No I wasn't actually shitting myself but you get my drift.) Anyway it's really intense and fun.

Dude why are people saying ohhhhhhh I blacked out on this . Really it's a really fun roller coaster and the drop is fast so you won't freak out as much.

Omg I love this ride! I mean it was scary at first but its so smooth! I guess I'm lucky because I didn't black out
damn that's crazy! because they actually SLOWED the ride down! when it 1st came out it went close to 95mph.. and it was way too much for people. they added some brakes after the first drop. Right before the crest of the 2nd drop. crazy huh! glad you had fun!
This is by far better than the Intimidator at Carowinds in so many ways.
I love this ride if you ride it more than once in a row the drop gets more intense . And you blackout meaning that as soon is you get to the bottom of the ride and make that turn you can't see for about 2-3 seconds then its another drop then airtime . I love this ride . My brother and I rode it and I went on again right after . It looks so beautiful at night cause they have lights on it . They need to make more rides like this ! Amazing .

The only trim brakes are on the 3rd hill. At one point in the 2010 season they had brakes down the first drop, but they modified the first turn and the brakes were moved back to their original position on the 3rd hill.

Mantis is a Stand-up twister coaster, i think you mean Millenium Force which is a little bit taller and faster, but has a totally unique layout.

Just got on this today, this ride is intense
It is more intense than Millennium Force and Leviathan, so it fits in there quite well.
When I went on this the first time I blacked out for 3 seconds on the super sharp turns.
@JaxTeller22 there is nothing to worry about the best part is the hill but after that big hill it is fun trust it is amazing

Okay, so this ride is most definitely intimidating, but it is so much fun. You really should close your eyes on the drop, or you will black out. All my friends and I blacked out twice on this ride. It is a lot of fun and not as scary as it looks. Most definitely worth it. C:
I rode this ride when they first opened, and during the first drop, I blacked out. I was told that ppl was complaining about the ride being too fast and they lowered the speed to preventing a lot of ppl from blacking out. From reading these comments....it didn't work.
Rode it for the first time on saturday. Damn near blacked out. I will be back.
According to Taylor Bybee (Coaster Studios) you can blackout on this ride if you haven’t eaten in a few hours, so if you wanna avoid blackouts, that may be your first tip.
0:50 is the infamous gray out turn....still my favorite coaster to date though
I rode this just a few weeks ago, on the drop, you actually loose your eye sight for 10 seconds, its crazy.

Thank you for posting this! Loved this ride! In my opinion, it is better than Millenium Force in some ways, but still love MF more than this. Try at night if you can, loved riding then than the daytime.
I went there as my vacation to see my uncle and I loved this ride
My boyfriend rode this 2 times. The first time he had a bandage on his chin and the ride ripped it off. His vision faded but he didn’t black out. He loves it. Idk how he could go on it though

you must admit though sharp, the harnesses are pretty comfortable for an intamin coaster compared to maverick. but yeah this has like the best air time way more on that second hill then i expected. this is equal to maverick to me and i thought nothing would get close to maverick.

Yeah they are both cedar fair and put in at the same exact time too, some people are not understanding this! Plus this one is a giga, Intimidator at carowinds isn't.
I'm glad they reprofiled that first turn so the coaster didn't have to remain InTRIMidator 305.

They are both cedar fair parks, Intimidator 305 was planned first then they said lets do it in carowinds to. Just looked it up lol.

I'm bored and just looked up roller coasters, I'm now going to Virginia.
Been on this like 3 times. We had something like 8 people in our group and I believe 3 or 4 blacked out. I never did, but it's still difficult for the mind to process that first drop and turn.
Some people yes. But they have slowed the ride slightly so that happens less often

Actually, Skyrush is probably one of the most similar rides in existence in terms of layout style and forces.
Chris, the drop isn't trimmed anymore. They removed it after they changed the first turn. But it sucks that its closed :/

Many people have blacked out on this ride. I live 20 mins from KD and many of my friends who've ridden on the Intimidator said they've blacked out or have had severe vertigo.
They probably just grayed out, most of the general public don't know the difference between blacking out and graying out.
+RW_ RevengeoftheMummy Blacking out is when you pass out or fall asleep for a couple seconds. It happened to me once and I greyed out the other times I went on it.
