  • Hing Jeera dal
    Ingredients Quantity
    Water 2 ½ Cup
    Soaked Moong dal 1 cup
    Soaked Masoor dal 1 cup
    Turmeric Powder ½ tsp.
    Salt to taste
    Pressure Cooker
    Water 3 Cup
    Soaked Moong dal ½ cup
    Soaked Masoor dal ½ cup
    Soaked Toor Dal 1 Cup
    Turmeric Powder ½ tsp.
    Salt to taste
    Ghee 2 tbsp.
    Hing (Asafoetida ) 1 tsp.
    Jeera (Cumin Seeds) 1 tbsp.
    Green chillies chopped 3-4 nos
    Coriander sprig for Garnish
    Method of Preparation for pan
    1) In a Pan add water
    2) Add Soak 1 cup of Moong & 1 cup of masoor dal.
    3) Boil them together with turmeric & salt .
    4) Cover and boil the soaked dal till mashed.
    Method of Preparation for Pressure cooker
    1) In a pressure cooker add
    3cups of water.
    2) Add Soak ½ cup of Moong & ½ cup of masoor dal & 1 cup of Toor Dal.
    3) Boil them together with turmeric & salt .
    4) Cover pressure cooker and cooke dal till 4-5 Whistle.
    Method of Preparation for Tadka
    1) In a pan heat 2 tbsp. of ghee add hing, Jeera and chopped green chillies.
    2) Once Jeera and chillies crackles add the boiled daal and cook further 5-6 minutes.
    3) Add salt if required,garnish with fresh coriander,serve hot.
    Dal Tadka Restaurant style dal
    Ingredients Quantity
    oil 2 tbsp.
    Hing ½ tsp
    Jeera 1 tsp.
    Ginger chopped 1 tbsp.
    Garlic chopped 1 tbsp.
    Green chillies chopped 2-3 nos
    Onion chopped 1 nos
    Tomatoes chopped 2 nos
    Salt ½ tsp
    Red chili powder 1 tsp
    Garam masala ½ tsp.
    Coriander chopped 1 tbsp.
    Ghee (for garnish) 1 tsp.
    Method of preparation:
    1) In a pan heat 2 tbsp of oil add hing and Jeera, once Jeera crackles add chopped ginger and chopped garlic and Chopped green chilli & sauté for a minute.
    2) Add chopped onions and sauté for 2-3 minutes, add chopped tomatoes and cook further for 5-6 minutes
    3) once tomatoes are cooked add Salt ,red chili powder, garam masala and Saute well.
    4) Add Dal and Cook till dal is thick.
    5) Add chop coriander and stir well.
    6) Take in a serving bowl, garnish with fresh coriander and desi ghee
    Tomato Parappu
    Ingredients Quantity
    oil 2 tbsp
    Hing (Asafoetida ) ¼ tsp.
    Jeera (Cumin seed ) 1 tsp.
    Mustard seeds 1 tsp.
    Onion chopped 1 Nos small
    Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp.
    Green chilli chopped 2 nos
    Tomatoes chopped 3 Nos Big
    Salt ½ tsp.
    Red chilli powder 1 ½ tsp.
    Turmeric Powder ¼ tsp.
    Curry leaves 6-8 nos.
    Tamarind paste 1 tsp.
    Curry for garnish
    Chopped tomato for garnish
    Method of preparation
    1) Heat oil in a pan add
    hing,Jeera and Saute till
    Jeera turn brown.
    2) add chopped onions and sauté well.
    3) add ginger garlic paste and chopped green chillies sauté for 2-3 minutes
    4) Add chopped tomatoes and salt and cook till tomatoes are mashed.
    5) Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder and saute well .
    6) Add Curry leaves and saute well.
    7) Tamarind paste and saute well again
    8) Add the boiled daal and cook till the daal thickens
    9) Serve hot garnish with curry leaves and chopped tomatoes.
