Thanks mate, you've convinced me that I need a Unimat SL. I was going to buy one last year, but spent it's budget on a bargain Myford ML10. The ML10 came with more chucks, collet closers and accessories that I never use, so I can sell what I don't use and fund the SL that I was originally going to buy. Great video.

Thanks for the comment. I would live a Milford Super 7, but they are unobtainable. Cheers SteveO

Nice work Stevo that will be a great little lathe when you get it dialed in. Thanks for sharing.

I have a Pultra P type and it’s a similar size to the unimat and I use a 5mm belt made by Optibelt.

Thanks for the comment. Actually, I ordered some 5mm PU belt material yesterday. I think it's either Optibelt or Fenner. I think this would be better than the O ring material I used.
      Cheers SteveO

Nice little lathe, as you said the belt is not ideal but it still works. Looks like softer metals have good surface finish, which is expected. Better range of speeds and better belts hopefully you will be good for steel. Interesting project, take care be safe 👍

Thanks for the comment. Your observations are right. I will improve the drive system and I think it will be a useful but specialised lathe. Cheers SteveO
