I love seeing someone upgrade the 4th gen and take care of her. I have one with the V8 and I love her. I will treat her right and hope she never stops!
I’ve been running with the same tires for the past 6 months on my 4Runner and they’ve been great so far on the roads in Calgary and gravel FSRs. Can’t wait to test them in the snow and also hear your opinion on them. Looks like we won’t get a snowstorm on the long weekend this year so snow testing will have to wait 😅 Really digging the look of your truck! 😎
I had posted a comment on your BFG review video but wanted to see what you had to say about your Falken's, of course winter is far from over and at least around here ( Grande Prairie area ) its been a weird winter so far with snow in Oct but hardly a thing since and here we are well into Dec. Lots of time yet for you to experience those tires this winter before a more informed update on the Falken's winter performance. I had bought a set of Falken tires this summer but my intent wasn't really winter performance since I typically put on dedicated winter tires. At one of the tire shops I was at, they happened to have a BFG KO2, Toyo AT3, and the Falken AT3W sitting side by side in their showroom and feeling the rubber softness was interesting, both the BFG and the Toyo feel much softer than the Falken. One would swear that the Falken should not grip ice as well as the other two simply based on the feel of the rubber but from your experience so far I get the impression that is not the case ?
Hey Charles! Ive really enjoyed my Falkens so far. They have been much more dependable than my K02’s. They aren’t the best on ice, but realistically nothing is without studs. I have had full confidence in them as a dedicated year round tire here in Calgary. In the snow packs they have been fantastic - no issues at all winter off-roading. I have also preferred their road performance as they are a very responsive and grippy tire in my experience.
I love those sliders I had them in my FJ but took them off because I wood get dirt on me getting in and out but those ones are the best how they slant up
Only issues so far have been a little more money in gas haha! Wheel bearings, axles, and suspension/bushings are all solid so far. I flushed my power steering fluid recently which really helped with some of the extra groan. With the V6, I’d recommend a regear! Nice!! Let’s go Alberta! Maybe we’ll see eachother around!
Great question!! Realistically, with more weight on the corners of the vehicle, everything has to work harder to get the truck moving, and to slow it down. You can relatively expect wheel bearings and related components to wear a little bit quicker, though not too substantially. I would say that the V8 has absolutely no issues pushing 35’s, and a regear to 4.88 would bring things back into perfection.
@@looseaxles I can see where a regear and possibly upgraded brakes might be on your list. I've always loved the lines of the 4th Gen. You have a beautiful truck!
Also I went from 33s to 35s on my FJ and I got to be honest with you it ran and drove a lot better for some reason I love that fucking beast vehicle some lady ran a red light and flipped me over also if those rooms are black I would like them I just don't like the color
I got to be honest I hate those rims but to each his own but yes 35 let's call a spade a spade everyone wants to be as high as possible I had 35s on my FJ and I miss the fuck out of that thing now I have mud tires on my 4Runner that rub like a motherfuker but I don't care I need a lift bad
If you need to take a shit, it's unavoidable. To put different wheels and tires n your truck/car without a clear reason for it, it's crap in itself. And yes, I wrote it because I wanted to.

That’s the good stuff right there! Absolutely love to hear it! What’s next for you on your truck? Long live the V8!

Right! I am so excited to see how they do here in Calgary as well. Haha finally a nice September long! Thanks for the kind words!

I wish you still had those Black rhinos I'm just a big fan of black wheels
They were fantastic wheels and have found a new home with an awesome owner!
What all did you do to get the 35s on
I had 35s on my v8 4runner, sudden braking is scary. Those heavy wheel tires take more to slow down.
I plan to leave mine stock, but I also heard that you can out tundra breaks or 5th gen calipers which are bigger and compatible?
@@JonFox1945 mine is the sport edition and I believe those already have the bigger brakes.
@@russmt4181 mine is sport as well but I heard someone say that the upgrade was still Superior
@@JonFox1945 thanks, I will look into it.
I haven’t had any braking issues - I’ve actually been really happy with my stock 4th gen brakes. I also drive quite slow haha!

Any issues with having 35s on the 4th gen 4runner? Like parts wearing or breaking? I have the v6
- Also in Alberta :)

I was looking at those same gloss white kmc rims on my white 03 4Runner. I just think the white on white would look unique.
I think you’ll love them! My favourite wheels I’ve owned.
Also when I had my 33s they were 12.5 and I loved the look my 35s were 10.5 and maybe that's why it ran and drove better
How do you like the Dobisons IMS lift?
Phenomenal! I can’t say enough good things about it.
How does this impact the engine, drivetrain, bearings and steering components?
Great question!!

did you upgrade the ring and pinion ? 4.56?
Not yet! Once my rear differential goes, I’ll do a regear and a solid spacer.
still running a half inch body lift?
You bet! It’s been perfect.
What’s the wheel spec on that rims you have?
Hey man! They are KMC LOBO 17x9 -38!

Totally bro! I can relate. I love the feel of the 35’s haha. And 100% white is not for everyone! In black they look dope as well!
Damn I just realized their white I thought they were grey and they do look good now that I see their white
So sick
Thanks man!
Large speed bumps?
🙄

Also I cut my muffler off today and it sounds mean as fuck 4.7 isa beast motor but then again what motor does Toyota make that isn't a beast
Hell yeah bro! I bet that sounds gnarly.
