*Wakes up in coffin* "what is this?! A New York apartment?"
Cool! Alan Turing decoded Enigma and was instrumental in destroying Nazi U-boats. Turing was arrested for homosexuality - which was then illegal in Britain - and was found guilty of 'gross indecency'. On 19 July 2023, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace suggested Turing should be honoured with a permanent statue on the fourth plinth of Trafalgar Square, describing Dr Turing as "probably the greatest war hero of the Second World War".
*important to remember that the people who first cracked Enigma were: Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki and Henryk Zygalski.
They didn't just arrest him, dude was chemically castrated by the same government he helped out in the war
Turing is also the father of AI. The classic Turing test, Turing award, etc.
And also yes, lgbtq as well as women often didn't get the deserved credits for their scientific breakthroughs.
You guys are failing hard. Turing invented and described the concept of the Turing machine. That's his greatest contribution by far, this is the basis of computer science.
Fun fact: the whole coffin thing with people waking up was bad enough that they started putting bells over newer burials with the string going into the ground so that if they woke up they could ring the bell
I heard this before, but I didn't know the why behind it was they were mistakenly burying people alive! I don't remember where I heard that fun fact, but I thought this practice was because they were being superstitious.
isn't it also where the phrase "saved by the bell" came from? lol
You call anyone accidentally buried a “dead ringer”.
@@juanmacias5922 I love living in an era where I can just google the etymology of stuff. There's no evidence for A) anyone being "saved" by the various contraptions sold to people to be buried with "just in case". B) Anyone using the phrase prior to other contexts... like boxing. The sport where someone can be destroying your brain's capacity to name your kids anything but George, and when they hear a bell, they'll stop.
@@namehere5675 that’s pretty fantastic😂
“What is this, a New York apartment?”
Killed me Anna 🤣❤️
And then the reply isn't "I'd hate to be buried alive" but "I'd hate to live in New York" 😂 🤣
2:35 I mean, he had a group of 12 dudes when he was older. We call that a Fire Island Party now
Sodom and Gomorrah , Gods judgment against sin
Actually, I think a stronger argument could be made for God being pan. He does love everyone after all.
Absolutely!
ba dum tss
Awe
And arguably nonbinary depending on what monotheistic tradition one may follow
they're also non-binary by definition. God is the potential for everything the underpins reality so def not a dude.
We stan a potato King! Thank you Anna for making this Pride Month the trademark Gemini mess it should always be, lol
Praise be unto Gayby Jesus, amen 🙏🏽
God won’t be mocked , repent while mercy abounds
"Past those jugs" 🤣🤣
OFF TOPIC BUT HAIR IS SLAYYIN
SLIVING!
Fear of being buried alive lead to putting bells on graves with a wire running down into the coffin that a buried-alive person could use to ring the bell as a signal to those above ground they aren't dead yet! In "The Premature Burial", Edgar Allan Poe spends the first half of the story relating real world cases of people buried alive before getting around to his fictionalized story.
The inventor of the hypodermic needle was fellow Irishman Francis Rynd, and the guy has 7 kids, so if he was queer, he was either secretly bi (not beyond belief for the time) or deeply in the closet.
I see it being credited to Scottish doctor Alexander Wood in 1853
@@AnnaAkana google says Rynd created the needle(metal part) but Wood did the syringe(barrel+plunger). many interchange the terms needle&syringe but that is inaccurate. the syringe is any barrel&plunger and the needle is the metal poker. 😁
@@bribart402 I'm surprised she kept your comment up. My comment saying the same thing you did (with a source) was deleted. Going through other comments, I'm not the only one it seems (A user named criticaldiscussions said the same thing further down).

It’s the impeccable drag king skills for me
Wait Florence Nightingale was Queer???
Wth I've always admired her without knowing, just did a little research, there is no evidence of sexual relationships with anyone but some of her writings may suggest that she was romantically involved with other women.
So she was either Asexual or a Lesbian or both!!!
That voice is giving me Very Mary Kate flashbacks in the best way possible! "OH MY GAWD, Bodyguard, how could you?"
I love Elaine Carroll
I’m surprised no one’s commented that they’re now questioning the significance of waking up after three days in a tomb 🧐
He is risen
2:00 this made me search about the history and popularization of the potato because apparently, there are three people who did this. Parmentier (France) , Frederick (Germany) and Kapodistrias (Greece).
Rene Laennec was a devout christian. Did you lie for the joke?
The doctors are heart stompers, stompin’ on hearts!
Well, he was not queer he just had respect. btw, he was married to a woman.
1. Beard.
2. Lavender marriages.
3. Maintaining status, at all, in a compulsorily heteronormative society. See 1 and 2.
Jesus was Aro/Ace.
You cannot change my mind.
In all honesty, who knows what the actual orientation or gender identity of the real-life person was, but it's just too tempting to not claim Jesus as One Of Us. And there's something special about the person thought to embody human love being Aro/Ace.
I'm curious. How does Squarespace feel about you calling them daddy? 😆
they keep offering that sponsorship, so it must be fine
Protect the children
From bigots and pastors? Agreed.

Happy Pride Anna! ❤
Youre just doing this for attention and money
"What is this, a New York apartment?"
Come now, let's not get hysterical!.... You can actually manage to keep some of your paycheck, if you stay in a coffin, massive difference.
Ayyy Alan Turing the guy who ended WW2 way faster with his computer!

That was hilarious!
And poetic! 😂
How convenient, that critical comments don’t appear on your videos. I’ll repeat it again:
Since when Rene Laennec became g? I’d really appreciate your sources.
He married (unfortunately just 2 years before his death) but his wife had a miscarriage.

Dude! I've been watching you for over a Decade. You aged like a fine wine, and I aged like an avocado. 😂
Pretty queer

Hey
You're absolutely gorgeous anna! 😍 And really that's how the stethoscope was invented? She's also smart ❤
Wait the stethoscope thing isn't confirmed but you're displaying it as if it is?
I took her meaning to be that the unconfirmed piece, was that he supposedly was so discomfitted by female secondary sex characteristics that he removed the face-to-breast necessity...
Nobody has proof that he said, "ew boobs," much less that _that_ is what motivated his invention.
But that's my interpretation of her presentation.
As a straight man. I definitely do my due diligence to see if there's a heartbeat behind those melons.😂
Mustachioed Anna makes me feel things I am fully ready to explore.
Bonjour anna akana
Because potatoes are so good for you. You know, carbs and starch. So healthy. Head slap that guy.
Note: I love potatoes. Baked, boiled, slow-cooked, fried...if you can cook a potato, I'm there for it. Except I'm type II, and I have to be extremely sparing of my intake. Hashtag sosad.
I think it was to avoid famine.
So, yes, if done well, it can be good for preventing and staving off starvation and malnourishment.
You need supplementation to avoid things like scurvy, but like... harm reduction.
Like, people being so prideful about not eating the plant stone they didn't know, that they'd waste away.
Like refusing to wash hands or socially distance or wear a mask if feeling particularly subpar.
So yeah, tricking people into enjoying potatoes by making them the new forbidden fruit. People figured out how to enjoy it, and growing them is EASY.
safety coffins used to be a thing for a reason!
Algorithm boost 💙💚💛💜
Your so underrated.
I love you so much ❤😂Happy pride!
🤘🤘🤘🤘
O.O
If you wanted to make a point that homosexualas contributed to society, you could have without slandering a whole religion. What was the reason you had to mock Jesus, a religion followed by 2 billion people all over the world. You are being hateful just like the people you are trying to correct who are hateful to the homosexual community.
Sexuality or fetish does not inform science or inventiveness. This is apples and proverbial race car analogies.
I had a dream about you last night
I dont remember what it was about
The only thing i remember is that we were going to ‘do it’ and something would keep interupting us and we would never get around to it like a knock on the door or a phone call etc etc
I remember the house we were in was very undecorated and the carpets were on the walls
🤷
Another strange thing worth sidenoting is when i woke up from the dream i felt like someone punched me in thr head as if they didnt like what i was dreaming about, but as far as i know i cant control what i dream about
Wassup Anna 💙
This is like saying "inventions by people while blue eyes" or "inventions by people with a 3rd toe that is longer than their big toe".
I mean technically its a factual way to catagorize things, but its just a bit weird to do. Your skin color, sexuality, gender expression or anything else like that is irrelevent to how competent you are. It feels ___ist to use those catagories next to competency terms.
I get that we are talking about positive competency here but isnt it the same fallacy? Using catagories irrelevent to competency when talking about competency?
Wouldnt the best solution to be to not do that?
The correct response to someone who is ___ist is to respond "skin color, sexuality, gender expression, ect are not correlated to competency.".... yet we then proceed to use them while talking about positive competency? Why are we using these terms when talking about competency when why ___ism is unfair because those things dont correlate with competency?
I guess what Im saying is isnt it unfair in both dirrections? When you bring up someone's skin color, sexuality, gender expression, ect when talking about their lack of competence its ___ist because its unfair because those thing dont correlate.
Yet when we bring up someone's skin color, sexuality, gender expression, ect when talking about their abudance of competence its somehow not just as unfair? Its just as irrelevent though?
Bringing up historical contributions by minority and/or repressed groups is not a fallacy, it's a way of showing currently living members of those communities people like them in history as well as uplifting stories of people that were, most often deliberately, hidden, buried or obfuscated over time.
There's a reason the vast majority of stories we're taught in school are about white, cisgender, straight, able-bodied, upper class men - and it is not because they were or are somehow more capable, inventive, inteligent or *insert a positive trait here*.
Focusing on Black history of the USA, or on women's history, or on queer history, or disability history, and so on, let's us counter that bias.
Also, no, comparing straight historical figures to queer ones is not an equal comparison, because most forms of queerness were criminalized and pathologized for a lot of history. Same goes for comparing historical men to women in patriarchal societies, or for comparing historical figures of color to white ones in the West, you can pretend it's the same "in both directions", if one of the groups was [and still is] repressed, criminalized, marginalized and didn't have equal rights and opportunities, THAT is a fallacy.
You are also not allowed to feel proud about what your ancestors probably did but at the same time have to feel guilty about something that they allegedly did. Double standards are the Lefts bread and butter ...
She used to be cool
"The Gender Spectrum - from masculine to feminine:
Men / Queer Men / Non-binary / Trans-women / Queer Women / Women
Trans-women & women have different pelvic anatomy. Men & non-binary people also have different pelvic structures & utilization.
Discussions about gender identities must be taken seriously, as these definitions affect public spaces & others' lives. Pelvic qualities can be used to decide who can go to which bathroom or play in competitive sports.
Identities aren't just words. They have lasting & irreversible consequences to those who choose to transition. People under 21 shouldn't be able to make such radical changes to their bodies - which often require surgery."
Sociedad moderna necesita definiciones exactas de humanos 🌈
Did you really just change the thumbnail because you werent getting the views you wanted so you added a rainbow
gotta say I'm not a fan of the label "queer", it was long used as a slur and literally means "weird" or "unnatural" and I'm not keen on my sexuality being described that way
I think it is mostly reclaimed, BUT it is recently enough a slur that I wouldn't call someone "queer" unless I "knew" they self-identified as queer. Though, it do still use it as a collective sexuality including anything non-hetero.
Don't use it then. What you can't do is dictate how others use language.
@@scottw.3258so do you tell non black people they shouldn’t say the n word? Or when black people say non black people cant way the n word, do you go around telling them “ you can’t dictate how people use language?”
@@TanoHo-gd8qz Language is free. No one owns any word. If people choose to use certain phrases, or words, then that's their right to do so. It's then others right to react however they wish to that word, or phrase. What i would ask, however, is. Why allow words to upset you? The word itself doesn't upset, it's people who allow themselves to be ruled by words.
I've been called some rather nasty things in my life, and when i was a child, and even a young adult, i allowed those things to affect me negatively(note, I allowed them to upset me). Once you take charge, and decide for yourself that words are only a series of letters arranged in a style which allows us to make sense of them, then you become the master. If you decide that words will only affect you in a positive manner, then words will only affect you in a positive manner. If you decide that words will affect you negatively, then they will affect you negatively.
You cannot dictate how people use language, you can dictate how you react to that language.
@@scottw.3258 that’s a really long way to not answer the question?
This is equivalent to me asking “is it raining today?” And you answering “weather changes all the time. Some day it rains and some days it doesn’t. Embrace whatever weather is upon us that day.”
Bro answer the question 😂😂😂
Jesus is our queer brotha fasho
Queen sang who wants to live forever? apparently not him.
God is just not bound to any gender nor have sexual driven desires. but he is what you could describe a man
