To think it all started with jousting bulls. They had to do something in their downtime to keep the horses fit and from going mental. And it became Art.
Laye to the party here. The tails are docked on working bull horses. Only a section is removed that grows the longer hairs. Long tails and bull horns are not a good combination.
+Birgit Schenk The tail is the normal length of the tail bone, they just cut the hair. It prevents the spear from becoming tangled in it. These horses are bred to have shorter highly muscled necks. Even when he drops the reins the horse doesnt really stretch out so much. The down side of having such a thick neck is that they aren't really all that flexible. I found this extremely soft riding, very soft contact with many moments where i could see slack in the reins. He is so soft in the hand he barely has to move it. Very well educated horse
What an amazing animal. Great horsemanship!

Ayayayay!!!! mi Pura Pasión!!!
Beautifully done!
Is it necessary to dock the tails these days? I mean, braiding it up should suffice.

Smart horse! He can understand the words! But, WHAT happened to that poor horsey's tail?
It's braided so it doesn't get tangled.
Oops. Looks like this one was docked.
His tail has been cut not docked. I don't understand why they do this because horses use their tails to swish away insects

pure passion. there's no pull in the reins, or the horse would've stopped..
ole ole y ole esos aires camperos
No. Fake comments too. Try again.
Lovely, but that poor horse could hardly breath by the end of it...
It's mostly because of the hyperflexion in his neck. Show must go on.
But he also did a quite exhausting excercise.
Das arme Pferd..
What happened to the tail, this is horse abuse and mutilation!
And the nose on the chest, not horsefriendly riding!

the tail has to be docked so it doesn't get tangled up around the stick. The tail bone is fine.
I've seen this same discipline of riding in North America with horses that have not had their tails cut. The tail doesn't get tangled in the pole
