Hello Lukasz, great episode as always. It would be awesome if Axel could use a second anamorphic lens to film this episode... The biggest issue for me would be the distortion, but I'm obsessed with straight lines. 😄It distracts me even when I watch (Hollywood) movies and tells me subconscious something about quality of the production. P.s. You are probably aware of the new (Viltrox 28mm f4.5 and Samyang "Remaster Slim") pancake lenses? I thought it could be a good topic for one of your future videos. Both lenses seem to create huge interest at the moment. The Viltrox has (unfortunately) fixed aperture, but I think they have a Nikon version. The Samyang is for Sony only, but maybe you could rent or borrow a A7. I think such videos could attract big viewership at the moment (especially as both lenses are not available everywhere, yet). Have a great weekend! 👍
Yeah, it would have been cool but they only gave us one. Please, there's no way it would work on a gimbal as it's too heavy (for ours at least) and it's a manual focus lens. So, it would have to be a very, very different video with a lot more static shots. I'm not aware of those lense. Honestly, I really don't pay attention to new gear, I just accept stuff we get for free if it's interesting, like this anamorphic lens (I turn away a lot of gear reviews cuz they simply don't interest me). Honestly, I'm kinda tired of gear review videos. We have a few more in the pipe and I can't wait to get through them and just get back to creative shooting on my own terms. :)
I really liked your comment about just shooting with gear that makes it fun! I know us photographers get really hung up on needing to use the BEST tool for the task, but some people seem to forget that at the end of the day most of us got into photography for the fun of it! When I first got into photography as a 10/11yr old, all I had was my Mom's cheap plastic point and shoot camera and I had a BLAST! Ever since then I find myself trying to recapture that feeling. Like most, I've definitely caught some Gear Acquisition Syndrome (GAS) where I buy gear I'll never actually use because I think that will make photography as fun as it was years ago. But on the flip side, the last couple years I've decided to slim down my gear to only two cameras and I've really enjoyed it more than when I had a ton of cameras and gear! Keep up the great videos Lukasz! 📸🙂
Thanks!! I'm glad you share the same sentiment. I find trying out unusual lenses like this brigs a lot of enjoyment to my shooting these days, but even with a simple 28 or 35 I have an awesome time. It's all about exploring the world and discovering things. :)
More video clips Lukas! Love it man 🤙🏼keep it up. Always makes me itch to get out with my a7r even more I’m lucky my job allows me to take my camera with me on the road every night. Never know what shot is waiting to be taken!
Thanks man!! Yeah, I've shot loads of bits of video like this. I want to put it together into a film at some point. I also wanna do a video about street cinematography. :)
@@EYExplore definitely looking forward to it! Me and the Mrs have always wanted to take a trip to Tokyo for our first venture off the continent. I’d love to sneak away for a workshop Keep it up! Much love, Dee
My Sirui saturn 35mm anamorphic (the lighter version) has become my main lens for photography so I'm happy to see other photographers dabbling with anamorphic shooting :)
Nice!! Yeah, I was torn between the two. But Sirui told me the Venus version was the pro one so I took it hahah, even though it's heavier. I wonder how it compares optically to the Saturn.
@EYExplore I know the saturn was initially aimed at FPV drones, small rigs, and such, but I'm not sure why they call the Venus the "pro" line. The optical formula is virtually the same. The Saturn does have better focus breathing and constant squeeze factor along all the focus range.
Enjoyable and instructive vid, Lukaz. Appreciate the PS demo of “unsquish” (new technical term😊). Can the correction be done in Lightroom? Other YT posts about this kind of lens tend to skip over editing stuff. When checking live view is the image compressed? Good subname for the vid, IMO, “Forced Creativity”😊. BTW, I understand there’s at least one anamorphic add on lens available for the iPhone. Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it! I don't think the correction can be done in Lightroom. I don't use LR but use the similar Adobe Camera Raw and couldn't find a way to do it. I wish it was possible! Yes, in the viewfinder the image is squished. You get used to it though. :)
Lukasz, I recognize the demo photo at 1:20, I think you took that at the start of our workshop the other day! Thanks again for the amazing workshop, it was so great to learn from you and work together for a few hours. I'll be sure and tag you when I post some of my Tokyo pictures. :)
Saw this yesterday on Patreon and loved it! Decided to save my comment until it went live here. Would definitely be interested in trying one of these lenses after seeing how it looked here. Also, I appreciated the little notes that popped up with information on movies! The effort paid off for sure.
Glad you enjoyed it!! It would be a fun project to shoot on film and then figure out a way to develop with an enlarger that has an anamorphic element. :)
I thought about it, but didn't see any subjects that warranted it on this shoot. You end up with a very narrow and tall image too, though I guess that's not so bad for phone screens. Anyway, it would be cool for some subjects!
Just to be sure, the compression look will be same if you use a 24mm and crop top and bottom compare to this 35mm anamorphic lens right if you stand on the same position?
I guess they give a similar field of view, yeah, but they are not anamorphic because the image is not squished or stretched. Also, stereoscopic images are something different altogether. :)
Had you tried and shown the 28-400mm lens? By the way, do you have other hobby and interests other than photography? Are you mostly one interest kind of guy or multiple?
No I never tried it. Sure I have plenty of other hobbies: sports, games, reading, etc. But I have little time for those at the moment. It's mostly photography and family these days. :)
@EYExplore oh I see, your family live in Japan with you as well? By the way, I from Malaysia, do you know how much it will be for me to move to Sweden? How much do you prepared when you move to Japan last time? :-)

Awesome as always guys 👏
Thanks!! :)
Looking very much forward to your Ambient Tokyo movie or whatever it will become! The clips you showed look very promising :-)
Thank you!! I need to get my ducks in a row and work on it full time! :)
Great video, what are the specs on the Freewell Mist filter you are using?
Thanks! It's a 1/4 black mist. :)

What a neat lens. Thanks for posting this.
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching! :)

Lukas the Master 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 !!!
You're too kind! :)
Dobra robota jak zawsze. Zdjęcie tej taksówki 20:36 wygrało ten odcinek dosłownie jak kadr wyjęty z jakiegoś filmu.
Też tak myślę. To zdecydowanie moje ulubione zdjęcie z sesji. :)
at this point, even cheap TV production crime shows use anamorphic lenses, it's so funny every time i see it
Ah really? I guess everyone wants that look haha. :)
all landscapes, how's about some portrait mode shots to challenge your eye? :D
I thought about it, but didn't see any subjects that warranted it on this shoot. You end up with a very narrow and tall image too, though I guess that's not so bad for phone screens. Anyway, it would be cool for some subjects!
Nice. Great lens.
Thanks! :)
Confusing but dope lol, thanks
Thanks for watching! :)
Just to be sure, the compression look will be same if you use a 24mm and crop top and bottom compare to this 35mm anamorphic lens right if you stand on the same position?
Yes, the compression should be the same, since the perspective is this same. But the DOF will be different. :)
@EYExplore I see, thanks! :-)
Are eyes perspective basically anamorphic too because they are 2 43mm lens but wider field of view and same vertical height?
I guess they give a similar field of view, yeah, but they are not anamorphic because the image is not squished or stretched. Also, stereoscopic images are something different altogether. :)
@EYExplore I see, I learned a lot and still has a lot to learn! :-)
Interesting, i like it
Thanks!! :)

Noo you missed the panda Trueno at 22:57 😭
By the way.. super video, as always
22:57 aww you missed the ae 86 in the back
Oh wow!! That would have been so cool! I didn't even notice that when editing the video... thanks for pointing it out! :)
Sirui just made a super-light, super-affordable, AF(!) 85mm 1.4(!) ...it could make for a very interesting street-photography video, just saying 😏😁
Oh thank you for telling me! I'm going to ask them about it right now! :)
@@EYExplore that's awesome! Thank you! 🙏😊
Must be nice doing street and not being worried about getting shot or mugged for your gear.
It is nice! :)
Squoosh!
Haha. :)
To quote my dear departed mother....."That's just too much sugar for a dime.". I'd not enjoy photography with that lens.
Haha, I don't get it, but as I say in the video, it's not for everyone. :)
@@EYExplore It's a very old saying, meaning something is overly complicated. 😉
