I totally agree! The Blade Runner soundtrack was on repeat for like a year at one point haha. And also Vaporwave, the genre resonates well with Tokyo's streets. :)
On your walk and route, I would have shot so many pictures. The umbrellas as an example. We do not use them as sun protection up here in Scandinavia, so they are very exotic to me😂 We only use them for rain protection. Good video 👍🏻👍🏻
Pretty cool exchange between you both and cool moment in this vlog! I sometimes choose to take photos just to fulfill my mood of doing something spontaneous beside my graphic design, and get it as satisfaction at the moment that I want to feel it alive in a few seconds later it disappears to re-synchronized my creativity.
I hear that!! I have some friends who are designer, illustrators, creative directors, etc. and photography is a nice alternative creative outlet for them too. :)
Very cool conversation! A lot of it is very relatable for me. When Ulysses was talking about being a candid photographer that hit home for me. I don’t like labeling myself a street photographer because I make so much more than that. Going to start saying I’m a Candid photographer
@@peterd1332 I think the idea is that 'street photography' is a subset of the more general 'candid photography' which can include scenes that are not typically dubbed 'street'.
@@peterd1332 Well, the typical street photography definition is candid photos of decisive moment involving people. So, a photo of a trash can is not usually considered a 'street' photo, but it may very well be a 'candid' photo because it was not staged or prepared by the photographer. Similarly, photojournalism is a candid form of photography but not typically considered street photography because it deals with newsworthy events rather than mundane daily scenes. The work of William Eggleston could be called candid but he is not often considered a 'street' photographer.
Talented guest. Difficult to distill take-always or insights, TBH. Wide ranging chat. Two Ricoh guys stroll past “Canon plaza” photo house at about 9:08min - nice😊. BTW “media” can be both singular and plural. Cheers!
Thank you so much for noticing!! Yes, I am always trying something new haha. I grade each video by hand and to do 'to the video' meaning I try to respect the light and color of that particular shoot. Glad you like this one! :)
Well, he's definitely working though. He's having an exhibition soon I think. I know his struggle. I also know he's prolific in his creative output. :)
It's amazing to me, how you can be taking pictures so close to people and yet you seem invisible to them. They don't react to you taking their photo. If I tried that here in my small Southern town, I'd either be attacked or hauled off by the cops, to the nut house.
I turned off when he said there is no right or wrong with street photography. Yes there is! There is right and wrong with all photography. That’s why 99% of images made lately are garbage, including the images in this video. If you want to see street photography done Right then look at the work of Eduardo Ortiz.
Obviously, there is quality work and bad work, but we're discussing the tenets of photography. What are the rules? In any art there are rules, but it's possible to go beyond them and make the the genre what you will. Forge your own path, don't just follow someone else's values blindly. I don't think Ulysses photos are garbage...
Excellent.... love at 17:48 you both without saying anything to each other stop talking and each take a photo... the we see an attractive young woman in a blue classy dress walk out of shot and you both watch/follow her down the side street. Nice :-))))
Hahah, yeah I loved that moment. I think we both saw the potential but both didn't get anything good. Ulysses didn't send me his shot and mine was not even worth keeping. But yeah, the moment hooked us. :)
Not just visual art forms are great sources of inspiration, also music! Classical, metal, jazz...

These casual, conversation style videos are always my favourites 👍
Glad you like them! :)
Two of my favourite presenters. Thank you both gentlemen.
Thank you so much!! :)
Great talents on observing to capturing photo moments, great video guys.
Thank you so much!! :)
Last time I saw you and Ulysses in the same video he was wearing a tie, and now he's wearing ripped pants. His fashion is quite eclectic haha
Haha yeah, he's was leading a workshop that day so was 'in the office' but our walk and talk was more casual. :)
Another fantastic video, thank you!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! :)
These collaborations are much needed 😂. Love these collaborations videos too Lukaz and of course, Charles too
Thank you!! Actually, we should have Charles on the channel again. It's been a looooong time! :)

What is the 'make so much more than that'? How does the term Candid photographer fit better?

Thanks for the upload!
Our pleasure! :D
Wonderful discussion! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for enjoying it! :)
Loved the interview and thoughts shared. Thanks Ulysses and Lukasz!
Thank you so much for watching! :)
I like his work.
It's excellent! :)
Czesc.
half way through i realised - hey someone is recording them, hahaha
Haha, yep! :)
Great talk, awesome photos 👍
Thank you!! :)
A brilliant exchange of ideas between two creative minds! Thanks for revealing some newer dimensions of candid street photography.
Thank you so much for watching! Glad you found it interesting! :)
Can't tell which one's prettier 😍
Haha! :)
I love this
Thank you! :)
@@EYExploreyou guys inspire me thank you! Always!!!
great video
Thanks!! :)
Fantastic duo 😎
Thanks!! :)
What bag did you use Aoki?? Cool looks. ❤
You should probably ask him on his IG! :)
The style is similar to a Billingham. Great bags.
@@johnvienna3422 Nice tip! Thanks!

Yeah, we covered a lot! I think I lean towards 'media' but had a brain fart in the moment haha. :)
The lady in the background with the planted wall and the alley might have been an interesting photo @ 5:53
Yeah, the scene is nice, but people on phones.... dime a dozen, haha. :)

I can't speak for your town, but this is my experience everywhere I've been. :)
Good convo boys!
Thanks Alex!
Great video 👏 What bag did you use?
Thanks! My bag is from Squallo Works. :)
Lol. Two artistic kindred spirits.
It feels like that, yeah! I really love Ulysses' work! :)
Two handsome men.
:)
not many people are interested in this kind of photography
I dunno. I'd say street photography is pretty popular these days, but sure, not as much as landscape or general travel photography. :)
everything RUclips touch become fake positive
I don't know what that means...
