    Looking forward to the setup video Jason. Last week I turned my global input trim to +5 or +5.5 and I’m really happy with the tune

    On the ToneX pedal, I think global trim set to +8.5 sounds slightly darker than when setting trim to 0 and compensating with patch gain. I actually like the sound with trim at 0 and adding gain to my patches as needed. So I'm doing what is suggested here...set trim and leave it alone (0 for me), and then adjust gain in my presets.

    Hi Jason, Let me better understand the setup. For the pedal track, you are sending the clean signal to the pedal (assume that the pedal is in Live mode?) and from the pedal back to your audio interface. Is this correct? I am confused sorry.

    Or turn up or down the guitar or whatever your first pedal is on your board (mine is a compressor) which I'm going to want to adjust to the output of the guitar anyway, When switching guitars

    Jason, i really like your videos ! Why isn't anyone talking about how the Amplitube and Tonex software default settings are maxed out or higher ? I have been bringing this to their attention for a year and they still haven't addressed this ! The volume is so high that you can blow your monitors. It's maxed out on every preset and when they start doubling the amps, adding pedals, the volume is even higher. If you go through the software you'll see what I'm talking about. The default settings should start at -40 DB. Is there any way to fix it since they won't update the firmware ? Thanks

    I am a new tonex user. I get a clearer feeling when I use tonex as a plug-in on my computer. When I use it as a pedal, I think I set the input trim correctly for my own guitar (Jackson SL1 and input trim +5db)... My sound card is Motu M2. I wonder if it is natural to experience some noise and some volume loss when we use the tonex as a pedal? Could the sound card's preamp cause me to get a slightly cleaner result when I use Tonex as a plug-in? In short, is it natural that I cannot hear the same quality in the pedal that I hear in the software? Thanks in advance for your answers.

      The pedal and your interface should sound pretty much identical as long as you have the input level set the same.

      I use Tonex with Audient ID4 and it sound great, with the Tonex pedal like an audio interface, it sound not good…the preamp of Tonex pedal are garbage. The Tonex software sound great with good audio interface…

    Hi Jason, do you use “advanced” mode when capturing for the ToneX pedal?

    • @JasonSadites
      @JasonSadites  9 месяцев назад

      Hi, I would say about 90% of my tone models are using Advanced mode. There have been times when I have been happier with the outcome of the Default mode and have used that since they were more accurate. Hope that helps!

    Does the Input Trim acts as a limiter/booster? For example, if I have a boost pedal in front set to +6db, would the Input Trim adjust the signal to what the Input Trim is set to before it hits the capture? Be interested on how that works and how it affects the signal coming in/out.
    Thanks for these videos, btw!

      Very good question! Set the input trim to match a good gain for the direct guitar tone or set it lower to match with drive and boost pedals...

    Ever since I did the latest update on the software for Tonex and Amplitube 5 it does nothing but glitch and the update was supposed to fix it. I didn't have the problem before the update. The input on the guitar fades in and out. It's not even usable. I did an uninstall and reinstall and it didn't fix the problem. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this ? IK Multimedia Support hasn't gotten back to me yet.

      Any updates on your troubleshooting?

    • @patrickaskey1965
      @patrickaskey1965 Год назад +1

      Not yet. Sweetwater Support tried but couldn't fix and they're waiting for IK to get back to them. They were able to see multiple issues with it on a daily basis. Now it closes constantly while practicing. I did a computer restore today but haven't tried it yet. I don't have any other pedals for FX, I was using the Tonex software for the amps and the Amplitube 5 software for the FX and just turned the amp off in Amplitube 5. Also , when changing presets in Amplitube 5 the volume is maxed out where as Tonex is 50%. That's another problem that makes Amplitube 5 useless without an interface or controller for the monitors. If I needed to get additional stuff I would've just bought a good multi fx unit. Frustrating but not giving up on the Tonex pedal.

      @@patrickaskey1965 maybe it's a faulty unit bummer

    • @patrickaskey1965

      It's not the pedal. It's just Amplitube 5. The Tonex software works great, Amplitube 5 glitches and shuts down since the last update that was supposed to fix it.

    The ToneX models I make sound perfect. I gain match the reamp out out and it comes out PERFECT. However almost every model on ToneNet is WAY oversaturated. Im talking amps I actually own having like 10x the gain they should even maxed out. WTF are people doing out there???

  • @toneconsultant
    @toneconsultant 2 месяца назад

    I have to say, though your video tones sound good, I don't believe I can get those. What I mean is you addressed the input gain issues, but I set my global input at -15 and picked a clean amp and I still get a ton of gain. I just can't figure out how to get a clean tone so I can't consider buying any downloads, which sucks. I can't use a hi-gain amp download either. It sounds like I have an OD pedal on 10 and the selected amp is also with gain on 10. I just can't figure it out. Global input & select amp gain on lowest settings and the gain is still crazy high. So frustrating.

    • @toneconsultant
      @toneconsultant 2 месяца назад

      Hummm. I guess you answer this at 16:50 minute mark. I don't know. This software isn't great to use on hi-gain amps because the high input doesn't allow much headroom. It's always maxed out.

      I have not used to software yet. But have the pedal running through the send/return on the helix. I did get it to sound right just now, but I have to boost the signal by over 20db. via the gain on the helix and cranking the trim and gain on the tonex. Also tried two different guitars with similar results. Is very strange to me.@@JasonSadites

      If I were you I would try turning my global input trim on Tonex to 0.0db and then boost the final output in the Helix Output block up the needed amount. Let me know if that helps.

    So, guys - what would you do if I use mainly 2 guitars - one with vintage single coils and one with SH-4 which is high output humbucker. I'm supposed to trim the input gain with the humbucker guitar so it won't clip and leave it be, than while switching to single coils trim the gain knob on the tonex? I'm kinda lost in that...

    • @JasonSadites
      @JasonSadites  6 месяцев назад +1

      My take on this, as I have talked about in many videos, is to set the input trim on Tonex Pedal to -3dB, which is equivalent to an audio interface set with 11dBu of headroom. Leave it there regardless of guitar/pickup combo you are using and then simply use the Gain to knob to adjust each tone to taste. Hope that helps :-)
