    There's one thing to be said for realism in model trains, but the charm and bright colors of prewar trains is something else. Great video, Austin. Thank you 😊

      Yes they were ..and more to come from that visit. I was as far north as Eureka and Redding....so even closer!

      @@AustinsAmericanFlyertrains isn't american flyer 3 rail the same as lionel 3 rail

      They both operate on the same track. Gauge between wheels is the same. In this way they are the same. Other ways...size, construction, etc...are different.

    Why does the look so much like your concept with the smaller gauge track elevated in the background? Complete with painted wall backdrop!! Beautiful. And was that a hot air balloon dropping in the background? I was waiting for the little prop plane to take off 😄

      It is similar to be sure. One difference would be that my upper layout would extend out flush with the lower level. I'm really intrigued by the large scale. I saw alot of it while at the York train show in E. PA.
      As for the details...and the balloon did raise and lower...I was so overwhelmed with the layout and the museum and then was in a rush to try and get through everything in the few hours I had that I did not focus on many of the details.

    A layout from Lionel heaven complete with Lionel Bldgs. and accessories ! I hope all the running stock was repro, and not the actual antiques !
