Just like Snake said, this video will feature story beats from other Yakuza games, because this is waaay down the Yakuza timeline, yet chronologically the first. As always one of your jokes got me almost spit out my food at the **yume**
I hope you get into Kuze and Awano a bit more and how their actors' roles (Hitoshi Ozawa and Riki Takeuchi respectively) as 80s-90s action movie stars put them into the story. I've seen clips of their movies floating around online and watching them gave me a bit of nostalgia and a few laughs seeing as their genre of action movie stars is emblematic of Asian action movies of the time; not just in Japan, but even stuff from places like Hong Kong (Hard Boiled and the Philippines (Isang bala ka lang).
@@Tehsnakerer If you ever watch Takeshi Kitano’s films you’ll encounter a couple of them naturally. Ozawa plays a similar sort of yakuza character (granted much younger) in Boiling Point, and Hideo Nakano (Shibs) plays Kimura in the Outrage movies. Sadly no Riki Takeuchi, although I suppose he took Kitano’s place in the second Battle Royale movie (though I heard it wasn’t very good)
It’s finally here. I made sure to replay the entire mainline series about a few months ago before the video would come out and even watched editing stream.
This has to be the sharpest script yet! Practically every point made ending in an amazing pun that perfectly matches what it's commenting on, and so naturally flowing into each other that you don't see the puns coming until they've already happened. The real estate employee evaluation bit had me laughing so hard I needed to pause the video and just let it all sink in.
Nishikiyama is my favorite character and villain. Because I started with 0 and moved onto Kiwami. I was able to see Nishikiyama go from sworn brother to sworn enemy. The story of Nishiki both in and out of universe is so fascinating. Out of universe, we see a basic and serviceable villain turn into one of the series's most complex and layered characters. In universe, we chart Nishiki's downfall until all that's left is the monster wearing the skin of our bro. I'm also glad you're covering Yakuza 0 before 6. Considering those two games compliment and answer each other. They are the alpha and omega of the series, the beginning and the end of the Kiryu Saga. Two sides of the same coin.
I have a mod for this game where Kiryu's heat moves are changed to Kenshiro's Hokuto Shinken techniques ported straight from Lost Paradise and I think it compliments how earnest batshit this game is and I love it.
@@dalelumina3 I just wish they'd give Majima an extensive moveset mod of that nature now for completion's sake Or at least port the Hokuto stuff over to Kiwami 1
There's something so delightfully bittersweet about Y0. In an incredibly well done way, this game is sad. By the end of the game, we have a complete story arc and promises of our heroes rising up and getting stronger and conquering the world in their own ways... and then... Well, if you've played the games you know how that ends up. It really does feel like youthful innocence of "no matter what, everything will be okay if i just put my all into it :)" Which, yeah they do in some cases, but more often than not, things go very bad. The flashiness of the 80s and the wealth of the Bubble really backs this feeling up, too.
@@logicaloverdrive8197 Nishiki getting Turbo-screwed by that one uppity underling of his. All that suffering just because of an act of spite towards his boss…….
Also a late comment. For Mr. Shakedown, once you get enough upgrades its actually Brawler that is the most effective way to put him down. Get drunk and abuse the grab combo as it will put him down instantly. Drunk Brawler is hilariously broken and its so much fun
you can do it pretty early on as well. you just bait his charge attack, and simply run behind him and do the square+triangle combo then rinse and repeat. also, when he does that whirlwind swing that ends with him stumbling a little- you can get in a square+square+triangle combo. same can be done with Thug as well.
That thumbnail and title is goddamn briliant. Kiryu, the king of wealth back in the earlier days aka the "Bubble economy" of Japan, represented in the Yen paper money, and "The Past is a Present" - Yakuza 0's release boosted the series's overall population, gives more personality for Kiryu and Majima, and also giving Majima the loves that he deserves, introducing a lots of new stuff that everyone likes, very minor drawback. Without the Past, Yakuza wouldn't get the recognization and population that it has today. It's a Present for die-hard fans of the series, and a very modern welcome to the newcomers of the series. A great video. Unexpected at that, since I forgot you haven't done Yakuza 0 before.
Re: You talking about getting slower at making videos: The increase in quality from that is VERY apparent. There is so much going on in this game, and you're able to take us through multiple idea threads simultaneously, while still delivering an amazingly precise analysis on complex aspects, not only in context of this game, but in the context of the entire series (the section about how Kiryu's fighting styles is just *chefs kiss* perfect). I really think you have the best scriptwriting out of any gaming channel on the platform. Seriously. It's so easy to just devolve into "Then this happens; [joke], then we get this moment [riff]", but you NEVER do that. I also really enjoy your editing. Every clip is directly related to what you're talking about (except for the "WHAT GAMES THEY GOT" joke which was fucking great lmao), and all the little gags that I catch just crack me up, like "gives [Nishiki] some contrast" *turns up the contrast of the footage* I hope you feel the effort is worth it, but if its not, I'll watch your videos either way :)
I completely agree with 0 being a great entry point for having access to all the goodies and the sheer amount of 'fuck off' power you can pump into Kiryu and Majima respectively. That, and just being an all round superb prequel to the emotional roller coaster that is the rest of the series. Brilliant stuff mate, it was well worth the wait.
Your comment during the credits regarding having inserts and wordplay that can be caught on future views is something you are definitely succeeding at. On my third listen/watch (I like to listen to youtubers while playing grindy games so can rewatch a video multiple times a day), I caught the "Goh figure" line, and it absolutely floored me with wheezing laughter.
Been waiting for this one. I played yakuza 0 the first time around when your yakuza 4 video came out and blasted through the series after that. Love the vids 👍
Fastest hour of my life. By the time chapter 1 closed I was like “DAMN 48 MINUTES?!” It was a really fun watch and i’m excited to see even more happen soon.
I've never met a content creator who is able to write so clearly about deeper themes and details, often teaching me things about games I've played dozens of times, while also managing to fit in so many puns that catch me so off guard I literally say "Oh fuck off" out loud.
As someone who used this game as a jumping on point for Yakuza. I was wondering how much more do you think this would resonate if you were already familiar with the series so far? Seeing Nishki be the antagonist of Yakuza 1 felt like quite a shock after the character development in this to me.
It kinda reminds me of how James Rolfe talked about the original SW trilogy and the prequels, and depending on which you saw first it paints a different picture of who Darth Vader is as a person. Same with Nishiki. Also at least Kiwami 1 TRIED to give some context as to why he became evil, instead of the game just saying "ok you're out of jail and Nishiki is evil now"
It's a mixed bag for me, I don't think I'd have enjoyed Kiwami 1 at all if it was my first game in the series, because 0 does a great job as a prequel on Kiryu's story, we see Kiryu developing who he becomes in Yakuza 1 and knowing that and also his relationship with Nishiki, Kazama and Reina makes those characters much more appealing to me and made up for the plot that didn't get me very engaged by itself. I don't think Majima's story does a great job of being a prequel to Yakuza 1 Majima, despite being my favorite on my first playthrough. it sets the pieces but we don't see him becoming the Mad Dog as much as he just unceremoniously pulls the façade out of nowhere at the end of the game. I think that this (along with Majima Everywhere) also ruins a bit how his character's opens up to the player a slowly with each game from 1 to 4. After playing 4 I think Majima's story makes much more sense as a sequel to his flashback in 4 instead of a prequel to Yakuza 1.
See, here's where I see the problem with 0. It rides on that Kiryu-Nishiki friendship way too much, up to the point where Nishiki's "betrayal" makes no sense, even with the extra scenes in Kiwami 1.
original Yakuza 1 Nishki is completely forgettable. you barely see him and theres no backstory on their friendship making his betrayal feel empty. One thing i will say as someone who started on the original you can see how far RGG's character writing has come.
Honestly I started with 6 Genuinely still had fun Especially since even without knowing everything the story is emotional and self contained enough that you just kinda get it
I'm so glad you're finally covering 0. As someone who fell in love playing 0 as an entry point, and then playing through the entire mainline series from there, I'm really looking forward to your perspective on the game and how it ties into all of Kiryu and Majima's other appearances. I absolutely adore this game, and I've been waiting for a really good longform analysis video on it for a longggg time.
I put on TehSnakerer so I can sleep because it sounds nice and I am lonely. Never played a minute of Yakuza in my life. Thanks for the viddies big dogg.
Starting from 0, it's really cool seeing how much stuff from 1-5 was called back upon as I played through. Like meeting younger versions of later characters, or even just different moves and seeing where a particular one originated from, like Majima having several of his breaker-style moves in his earlier boss fights, or realizing Beast style is just a Kiryu skin for Saejima.
This was so worth the wait. I've been watching through all of your Yakuza vids from start to finish as it's just so enjoyable seeing you break down and analyse a series I adore. Really looking forward to the rest of your videos covering the Yakuza games in this detail. Godspeed, Snake
The wait was absolutely worth it. Personally, by the time you ended Yakuza 5, I also finished the aforementioned game, got to replay 0 to keep it in order since loving the series in its 2017 western release, and play 6. This deep analysis on Chapter 1 alone got butterflies in my stomach, the amount of details in the game only matches the details you put in the script, with the puns and word plays as you said in the outro. If you can publish parts 2 and 3 in time, I'd be super glad for you. If not, delays happen, and this part alone is worth rewatching a lot more before the complete video with all parts.
I have noticed, in yakuza games, the white or light suits guys are usually brawlers and hardheads (Kiryu, Goda). The blank and dark suits are the planners and schemers (Jingu, Kazama). Lastly colored suits can be either talk and provoke kinda guys(Majima, Akiyama) or slimey mfs (Awano, Shimano). The coloured might have even more subdivision but I might be too stupid to notice. Ofc this is my general observation and thus can definitely be wrong and doesn't even take into account people who don't wear a suit.
You're a such a legend for this, mate. I really like that you focused THIS much on just the first two chapters of Zero because this game probably has the most densest opening in terms overall story/character details compared to all the other games. Also, it's really impressive just how much meaningful stuff you manage to say in just a few minutes.
Okay, so I'm half-way through, this is a fucking great video so far, but rather than talking about anything actually significant, my brain is feeling smaller than the shakedowns, so instead I'm just gonna point out how the music seems to sync up pretty decently around the 41:00 mark. EDIT: Speaking on the end, don't worry about things taking long, Snake, the quality here has really shown, it's been a joy just for my brain to pick up on all of the wordplay alone, the time taken to analyse and appreciate the game's content is personally greatly appreciated, especially as someone myself who would hardly even think about it, truth be told it's inspiring, sometimes the biggest isn't the best, but big is perfectly fine when it's loaded with substance.
I love your videos because they're some of the best delves into any given game's greater themes, something that I tend to be very bad at picking up on. Character subtleties and intricate motivations usually make complete sense, but ask me to describe any themes beyond what's readily apparent on the surface and I feel totally blind. Stuff like your videos really let me get a deeper appreciation for some of my favorite stories.
So glad you finally got to 0. I used it as a jumping in point after seeing your videos, and while later games took its place as favorites, i can't deny it makes for one of the most solid and polished entries for the series. Here's hoping more peeps get into it through this review.
My love for the franchise has only grown with your coverage of it tehsnakerer and I consider this entry to be the best in my opinion. Also if you could take any character from the yakuza games out for a pint which character would it be?
I'm so excited for this! These videos are my go-to winding down videos. Every rewatch I notice something new, and your writing is perfect for my tastes. Thank you Snake, even if I constantly fuck up your name when I try to recomend your videos.
I am so thankful you gave a little section about bubble and it's connection to the main game. it's a shame we never got the song in the west on release but atleast we got fan patches. Just wish more people could have heard this banger. Replacement track still rocks tho. Also hope that small holiday with your mother goes well, can't wait for part 2 and future stuff!
I'm super excited for this. This game was my diving in point and now that I've worked past 0-6 and I'm on Judgment, I really like referencing these videos to refresh my memory on the story and process all the nuances of it.
I usually play videos in the background as I draw, but dude. The way you describe things, the humor, the visuals, and the absolute enthusiasm in your voice dragged in my full attention LMAO Genuinely the best thing I could've ran into today. Thank you.
While Yakuza 0 isn't a game I revisit as often as 5 it will always be the most memorable; not for its story, but because of it being that 2nd chance of the series. When the game released on PS4 I jumped on the chance to shill it to friends and then did so again to my PC mates for the Steam release (many of those friends I still discuss Yakuza a lot with today, even linked them your videos). It will always hold a special place in my heart. Also I felt this with your Yakuza 5 and Watch_Dogs Legion vids these past couple years I've really felt your editing and humor just keeps getting better and better with every upload. Hell, so far this video has been a treat and this is only just one part of the bigger Playing video.
I've been waiting for this for soooooo long, I'm so happy you're finally covering this one. It was my first Yakuza game. I really appreciate the depth of your analysis and I can only imagine how much work those videos must require. Thank you so much dude!! Can't wait to see what the future holds for your channel :) Edit: Btw I've been following your channel for a year or more now and you always seem to engage with your community! It really makes your content even better knowing you truly care about your fans 🙏🙏 rock on my brother
You're one of the rare ones who actually makes the entire runtime of the video worthwhile and don't drag on with unnecessary narrations unlike most analysis videos out there by creators who aren't too into Yakuza/casual enjoyers Looking forward to how much more parts there will be, keep it up
As someone who actually started from the 6 demo then got 0 and played through it from there, coming back to it and finding out and listening to you explain it (I mean to be fair you could probably find a way to make drying paint seem somewhat interesting) I never noticed how much this both falls back on and references to events that technically haven't happened yet
I began with 0 and its the game that got me into the series - Having played the entire rest of the saga and currently replaying 6 to gather my thoughts on it, I am so excited to see this analysis series. Already I'm learning so many little details I completely missed my first go around, especially the fact that the style combat songs are remixes of future tracks. Fantastic job as usual man. Side note but ever since your Yakuza 5 analysis, hearing you say "you may" cracks me up because I expect that giant ass YUME text to pop up again. The fact you did it here caught me so off guard I had to pause lmao.
I really do love how both characters fighting styles do show what their main style evolved into. For Kiryu, Brawler was the blueprint, Rush was the speed, and Beast was the strength. For Majima, Thug was the evasive precise strikes, Slugger was the weapon expertise, and Breaker was the unpredictability.
Currently going thru Saejima in 5, after a long 3 and a half years of playing the whole Yakuza Series. Got 0, Kiwami and Kiwami 2 on PC for Christmas 2019. Then realized that my Potato PC could mostly barely play Kiwami 2. Then buying an Xbox Series X after knowing that the whole series was available on Gamepass to finish Kiwami 2 then playing half of 0 again, it's that good. What a lovely series of videos and what an amazing video game series! I still think 0 is the best of them, followed by 4. 5 is SO DANG BIG.
ive watched this video 5 times and im still noticing small details like when you say "leading to a reduction of interest rates" you show a clip of majima saying he's bored 7:10 the work you put into this mustve been insane
I haven’t even finished this video yet but so far this is some of the best analysis and even comedy in this video series so far. The amount of ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ jokes is insane, and you’ve already recontextualized a bit of the game for me.
The thing is, when you get better at writing, you get more ideas, or more ways to polish the ideas you do have, which you have to then account for in the writing/video-making process. So it's the opposite effect of what you'd think in terms of actual output. This is why every book series ever just seems to get longer and longer and longer.
In an unbelievable coincidence, this video happened to come out the DAY I finished Yakuza 0. Had a great time with the game myself, and I've been really excited to see your perspective, especially after how great your Yakuza 5 video was.
Yakuza on PS2 was my introduction to the series and then I never touched it again for nearly a decade until Zero came out. The idea of an introduction to a series that had ballooned to the ludacris proportions that the series has was so appealing to me I went out and bought all of the games and have been playing through them for the last 3 years. Having played more of the series I appreciate zero that much more
Very few series can mark themselves with the ability to have a solid "Before and After" tint to conversations surrounding a particular entry. For Mario, its 64. For CoD, it was Modern Wafare. For Yakuza, its 0. There is the series before Yakuza 0, and the series after Yakuza 0. That's simply because this game had such a profound impact that the bones of it has entered it's way into every successive game in the franchise since? And why shouldn't it? It was the perfect second wind the franchise needed, not only bringing sales back up from previous entries, but providing a fantastic first entry point for newcomers in a wonderfully self contained narrative. Not only is it great for beginners, it's one of the best in the series, with a story so deep and intriguing and heartwrenching, I am still finding new insights into it years later, thanks to Snake. (Your Style vs. Substance point in regards to Nishiki and Kiryu was something I never really saw till now.) While a lot of my friend group rates and ranks the entries before 0 quite easily, almost every game after is a MUCH harder conversation.
i'm so glad you're continuing your yakuza coverage. your videos have provided so much deeper introspective into the series and you're still killing it with this one! you rock, i hope you keep up the awesome work :)
I was definitely one of the people commenting that I was excited to watch the 0 analysis after having just completed the game, but in hindsight it was foolish to not expect spoilers here. I'm still looking forward to watching all of the analysis videos as I work my way through the series!
I played 0 as my first Yakuza game. I love it. It sent me on a bit of a binge of the series (though as of writing i only played kiwami 1&2 and like a dragon) and then i found your videos of the previous games. As i watched them, it gave me a deeper perspective of 0, and the more i watched the deeper it went. So, thanks man, for making one of my favourite games even better for me in hindsight. I am SO EXCITED for your thoughts on this game.
5:10 Just wanted to say I paused here to read things - I'm one of those weirdos that will pause and crawl to read text that's only on screen for a second. I wanted to let you know we do exist, and your effort is appreciated. Zero is the entry point for me, as well, even though I haven't actually played it myself. Instead, I was introduced to it via Slowbeef's Let's Play of it, and at some point fairly early on I bought it. It sits in my Steam Library, waiting for the day I have hardware that can actually run it adequately.
0 was my entry point as someone who didn't own any PS consoles until getting a PS5 last christmas. And I gotta say, I fell in love with the series 25 minutes in when I got to the karaoke, of course picking Judgement as my song. That cheesy glam-rock with the ridiculous fantasy of singing on stage just told me everything I had to know. 0 may still remain my favorite in the series, though 7 is giving it a really tough competition and I could swap my pick between the two daily. Gonna be interesting watching it all through again now that I know how the rest of the series went and can see the seeds being planted.
It's truly fascinating how the video I made about 0 tackles it from the perspective of someone who started with it and yours reveals stuff I though it would pick up on after replaying it, but didn't really notice until your video. For example, the fact the three lieutenants are based off of pre-existing characters I just can't picture came before even though they did. As always another fantastic video and great script, will be looking forward to the next two parts. Also your puns will actually just kill me one of these days.
I am SO EXCITED for this one! Like many others, Yakuza 0 was the first game I actually played in the series (I'd seen an LP on 4 but never got any of the references to previous games), so it holds a place in my heart for being a fantastic entry point to the series. Can't wait to see the rest!
Seriously thanks for doing the Y0 review series now. Recently finished it, doing my exams and I need some time off, and this is the perfect fit. Thanks for making the series justice Snake.
I got into Yakuza thanks to your reviews of later games, and this was the first I played (I decided to play them in order). It is so interesting that now I can watch your reviews not merely as an observer but as participant.

Me, who played the entire main series and both Judgments in the span of a year and a half: "hehe, yeah"
I begun at 0, by June, and will begin 5 today... Going 0-4 felt like being with Kiryu for those 22, or so, years (in a good, often over the top, way)
Just played 3-7 this spring. It's a bit crazy, but it's doable.

Just like Snake said, this video will feature story beats from other Yakuza games, because this is waaay down the Yakuza timeline, yet chronologically the first. As always one of your jokes got me almost spit out my food at the **yume**
Yakuza fans will literally develop PTSD from the words "dream", "rubber bullet", "dragon" and "peking duck"

Seen a few Kuze clips but I don't really go into their actors, I do touch a lot more on the characters in later parts
Agreed
Man, it's probably the distance between when I played the games. But I didn't even realize that was Kyushu No 1 Star. That's really neat.
I have a mod for this game where Kiryu's heat moves are changed to Kenshiro's Hokuto Shinken techniques ported straight from Lost Paradise and I think it compliments how earnest batshit this game is and I love it.
the icing on the cake is that money and blood still blast out of the enemies when you use the hokuto techniques on them
@@dalelumina3 I just wish they'd give Majima an extensive moveset mod of that nature now for completion's sake
Or at least port the Hokuto stuff over to Kiwami 1
There's something so delightfully bittersweet about Y0. In an incredibly well done way, this game is sad. By the end of the game, we have a complete story arc and promises of our heroes rising up and getting stronger and conquering the world in their own ways... and then... Well, if you've played the games you know how that ends up. It really does feel like youthful innocence of "no matter what, everything will be okay if i just put my all into it :)" Which, yeah they do in some cases, but more often than not, things go very bad.
The flashiness of the 80s and the wealth of the Bubble really backs this feeling up, too.

I have to ask one question: are you angry about the rubber bullets in 4?

6:51
They also did born to be wild. That games final boss theme. Also known as "one of the best fucking final boss songs to also listen casually"
Re: You talking about getting slower at making videos:
The increase in quality from that is VERY apparent.
Every clip is directly related to what you're talking about (except for the "WHAT GAMES THEY GOT" joke which was fucking great lmao), and all the little gags that I catch just crack me up, like "gives [Nishiki] some contrast" *turns up the contrast of the footage*
I hope you feel the effort is worth it, but if its not, I'll watch your videos either way :)
Finally! He's pronouncing Yakuza right!
Tehsnakerer: Ya-gaaaami
Well, baby steps
I hear no difference
Your comment during the credits regarding having inserts and wordplay that can be caught on future views is something you are definitely succeeding at. On my third listen/watch (I like to listen to youtubers while playing grindy games so can rewatch a video multiple times a day), I caught the "Goh figure" line, and it absolutely floored me with wheezing laughter.
your quip and joke is so good, i think you can become a comedian
Been waiting for this one. I played yakuza 0 the first time around when your yakuza 4 video came out and blasted through the series after that. Love the vids 👍
Fastest hour of my life. By the time chapter 1 closed I was like “DAMN 48 MINUTES?!” It was a really fun watch and i’m excited to see even more happen soon.
I've never met a content creator who is able to write so clearly about deeper themes and details, often teaching me things about games I've played dozens of times, while also managing to fit in so many puns that catch me so off guard I literally say "Oh fuck off" out loud.
Also, "He hand him a business card". I'll admit I thought that was a verbal typo, until about 5 seconds later.
It's always a good day when Tehsnakerer uploads
As someone who used this game as a jumping on point for Yakuza. I was wondering how much more do you think this would resonate if you were already familiar with the series so far?
Seeing Nishki be the antagonist of Yakuza 1 felt like quite a shock after the character development in this to me.
The difference in quality of writing between 1 and 0 is staggering.
Honestly I started with 6
Genuinely still had fun
Especially since even without knowing everything the story is emotional and self contained enough that you just kinda get it
I'm so glad you're finally covering 0.
I suggest replaying zero after 5, many callbacks and narrative choices will enhance the experience
Literally finished your Yakuza 5 video. Imagine my joy seeing this one just come out
I put on TehSnakerer so I can sleep because it sounds nice and I am lonely.
I liked the sponsorship in the Blood on The Line video because it served the joke.
"I'd say on the other hand, but there isn't one"
Fuck, how do you keep doing this, I love it
I'm late in watching this part 1. But let me say: I love it, it's always a blast to watch your Yakuza videos (and all videos in general)
Kiryu is such a dork, and I love him for it
I have noticed, in yakuza games, the white or light suits guys are usually brawlers and hardheads (Kiryu, Goda).
28:59 it looks like Sengoku is T-posing in the background, and that somehow feels more apropos than a standard render/pose.
"Let's have moment of respect...", then the name is typoed. Irony at its best.
i was JUST rewatching the Shinada video last night, and this comes out. Brilliant timing as always.
Ichiban ez
The way you describe things, the humor, the visuals, and the absolute enthusiasm in your voice dragged in my full attention LMAO
Genuinely the best thing I could've ran into today.
Can't wait to see what the future holds for your channel :)
Edit: Btw I've been following your channel for a year or more now and you always seem to engage with your community! It really makes your content even better knowing you truly care about your fans 🙏🙏 rock on my brother
Yakuza 0 was my first in the series.
56:10 can I just point out how smooth that transition was? Damn
I haven't seen a single second of this video, but I have already liked it, because that's probably the best thumbnail I've ever seen
You're one of the rare ones who actually makes the entire runtime of the video worthwhile and don't drag on with unnecessary narrations unlike most analysis videos out there by creators who aren't too into Yakuza/casual enjoyers
Looking forward to how much more parts there will be, keep it up
As someone who actually started from the 6 demo then got 0 and played through it from there, coming back to it and finding out and listening to you explain it (I mean to be fair you could probably find a way to make drying paint seem somewhat interesting) I never noticed how much this both falls back on and references to events that technically haven't happened yet
Very nice, can't wait for parts 2 and 3. But no rush, take your time; that's what makes your videos so enjoyable.
I've only ever played Like a Dragon, and I've been having a blast with 0, as much as I did with Dragon. Great videos, always a treat!
In an unbelievable coincidence, this video happened to come out the DAY I finished Yakuza 0. Had a great time with the game myself, and I've been really excited to see your perspective, especially after how great your Yakuza 5 video was.
Looking forward to the rest of the parts when they come out.
Also, lol'd at the pro/con section, the one for 4 owns completely.
Substance point in regards to Nishiki and Kiryu was something I never really saw till now.)
While a lot of my friend group rates and ranks the entries before 0 quite easily, almost every game after is a MUCH harder conversation.
i'm so glad you're continuing your yakuza coverage. your videos have provided so much deeper introspective into the series and you're still killing it with this one! you rock, i hope you keep up the awesome work :)

Just wanted to say I paused here to read things - I'm one of those weirdos that will pause and crawl to read text that's only on screen for a second.
No joke, I legitimately stopped what I was doing as soon as I saw this video pop up. I’ve been looking forward to it.
We made it guys! Tehsnaker Is at the fan favorite Yakuza entry.
It's funny how even having went in release order I'm beginning to appreciate how this builds off previous entries more
44:14 that's such a good detail that I had to go see for myself and well, yea I can hear the similarities
That's so cool
Seriously thanks for doing the Y0 review series now. Recently finished it, doing my exams and I need some time off, and this is the perfect fit. Thanks for making the series justice Snake.
I got into Yakuza thanks to your reviews of later games, and this was the first I played (I decided to play them in order). It is so interesting that now I can watch your reviews not merely as an observer but as participant.
just finished this, absolute great watch and excited for the next part
i like how 0's plot starts with optional dialogue from yakuza 3 if you listen to some ladies speak and even more so with kashiwagi's cold noodles.
One thing you may have missed about Oda fight: his track is "Misery comes on beat", which is the recurring boss fight music for Majima. A little foreshadowing letting you know that Oda isn't what he seems
Everyone who that theme plays for dies (barring one instance that was changed)
